Considering people or dying and people are missing including an infant, that's kind of a tasteless thing to say, don't you think?

I wasn't trying to be tasteless, pardon me if it came out that way. its sad that people are dying in floods and my heart goes out to them. I'm just saying i can remember just a few months ago when there was a major brawl going on between n. florida, alabama and ga over the need for water in s. georgia/n. florida and how bad the lack of water was getting. There were people in fl that had gotten to the point of doing actual rain dances.

That could of been partly responsible for the flooding.
Things dry out and get hard so when it rains heavy the water doesn't get soaked up fast enough to prevent flooding.
We had a lot of flooding this year for the opposite reason.
We had so much rain everything was saturated.
So when it keep on raining the water had no where to go.

    Jason,
I can't speak for Michael's intent, but if you hang around here in OT fort any length of time you will see we are more straight to the point and more blunt than in the rest of the forum. That doesn't mean there was any bad intent, just more honesty.

I would imagine Georgia's soil probably makes it prime for flooding. i hate ga's clay dirt

No, it's not - it's true. My son in Marietta garaged his ski boat and his father-in-law's very large houseboat was useless on Lanier for several years due to drought and low lake level. Dan was excited this year as the lake levels were recovering - but this is too much.

Now I'm just glad my son lives on top of good sized hill as it looks pretty grim. I haven't watched much news lately and didn't realize it was that bad. Hope it clears soon but it will take time for that much water to drain.

As the cooling trend develops you will see more wet (in fact even ice ages are basically very wet all the way around while most think of them as snow). The droughts in many regions around the globe are now gone - monsoons turned into floods because of the droughts in W Africa, India, Pakistan - and many other areas. Millions have been stricken, only hundreds lost so far, but residual effects might be more deadly than the water itself. Crops and grain reserves have been destroyed and livestock lost in more places than you want to know about - and the monsoon seasons are not over. Weather is expected to resemble that of the 70's by this winter. It's gonna be a tough one. Seatbelts everyone.

I live in Mississippi, just south of Memphis and it has been raining at my house for the last 9 days in a row.

That rain will probably last at least off and on until the end of the Asian monsoon season - about 3 more weeks or so. You might even get some snow this winter. I wish I could be there. Nothing more fun than watching southerners drive in snow.
