Is a simple factory reset enough to protect the data on the phone? I heard the data would be easily recovered after factory reset.

I did a test on my iPhone 6. I am able to pull out a lot of photos from it, lol. Anyone know how to permanently destrory the data before selling?

The only way to delete all information is to smash it with a sledge hammer numerous times. Then sit the pieces on top of a powerful magnet for 12 hours.
You won't be able to sell it after that but I bet you could create a viral YouTube clip about it.

Just how many state secrets are stored on your phone?

A quick Google search will give you the answer you need. I'm always amazed that people think this place is populated by geniuses on every topic.

From much of the info I see doled out, I wouldn't trust a recipe for brownie's that I obtained on this or any forum.

    Thank you.

Don't if you used it to record private videos of you and your partner before.

Hit the phone with a hammer then burn it with fire.

    No more data.

How sensitive is the data on your phone? If you're really paranoid just microwave your phone and give up on selling it.

the only safe way is to flash the ROM before you sell the phone so no data will be recovered by any means of hack

It is necessary and important to erase everything before selling iPhone ,It involves your personal privacy if the data and photos are found by other people , you don't even know what other people are going to do? it's dangerous,

Delete cache and reset the phone should be efficient. You have to be a really good hacker or police to have access to data them.

Or you could listen to the media, and think that a hacker getting hold of your name. address and phone number is the end of the world.

Apart from them signing you up with some F***witted insurance company that gives out $10 per signup, and having to tell them half a dozen times that you don't want their s***t, all is well.

I never sell old phones. I keep them for a little while, to ensure my new one does the job, and then I literally destroy them.

yes, the factory reset can be recovered, be safer, you need to download the iOS eraser tool to help, which can overwritten your iPhone many times as to reduce the risk of data recovery.

Personally, like everyone else here, my sentiments are that if you have such compromising stuff on your phone, just don't sell it. I mean not that many psychos exist in the first place but suppose they do, what are the odds that one of them ends up buying YOUR phone specifically and running a recovery software to dig up those dirty little secrets?

Maybe i need to add some , not all deleted data will be recovered after factory reset , in other words , the factory reset process can not delete data from phone completely ,
That said , it is necessary to permanently delete data from your phone before selling your phone , as for how to delete them with out recovery , what you need an effective way to do ,
