So have you ever hit the jackpot? Perhaps not millions like the person in the article below but enough to make you the clear bread winner, working for yourself. Has this put a strain on your relationship with your prior breadwinner spouse.Has it affected your family relations and strained your friendships, are they jealous or resentful of you. Did you have to forge new friendships because of it?

Any radical change of lifestyle will cause sudden loneliness.

Or at least sudden break from an old social network.

Yes - at birth. I was born to be me!

While I was still working, yes. The 35% growth in my net worth since the new year, combined with having one foot in the grave has me extremely tempted to start showboating by making ridiculously stupid purchases. I'm constantly re-evaluating my personal pledge to leave everything to the SPCA. I mean, really, how much money can a dog actually spend???

No need for one of those. The secret to a totally stress free life is to be alone. People that argue the point and would like to tell you that your existence is meaningless without a significant other are usually trapped in a loveless relationship and are looking to get you to share in their personal hell. Been, there and done, that. The t-shirt may be faded, but I still have it.

Has it affected your family relations and strained your friendships,
Nope! I don't make it a point to make my situation known to anyone and I don't exhibit any behavior that would draw attention to anything well outside the normal.

are they jealous or resentful of you.
Not over any knowledge of my financial independence, but they have a long list to compensate for the lack thereof. :-)

Did you have to forge new friendships because of it?
When my previous dog passed, I rescued another one. Man's best friend.

    Thank you.

    Ok, that explains it!

But good article, yes work hard for years and most of your friends clear out, which is fine since it saves you having to kick them out later on.

But family sure give them a wad of cash, and then kick them out, but in a nice way!

Of course it can, but the exact opposite is also a possibility.

No. Either one shows true character. Abject poverty means you have no idea what you are doing.

It could also mean that you know what you are doing, but it takes a long time.

          Like becoming a movie star.

Joan Rivers went through the abject poverty phase, then made tens of millions, (l read her story).
