I know Steven and I disagree a lot on newer music. I can't tell you a darn thing about this band except some how I got this tune on my itunes ( it must have been a free download or something) , but I think it really rocks. Sugarcult: |

Here's one from 1976 that got some airplay back then but has since long disappeared into obscurity. The Group - Smokie The Song - "Living Next Door To Alice" |

Here's a 1974 remake of an old standard, I think from the 40s. The Singer - Lou Christie The Song - "Beyond The Blue Horizon" |

A classic maybe, but certainly in no way obscure as this was a fairly big hit.

I can't believe this Air Supply song, which is one of their best, was never even a single...Simply Amazing The Song, from 1982's "Now And Forever" - "Come What May" |

Not really obscure I guess, but one of the best songs ever written IMHO. |

not around these parts. Heck, it just about broke the Billboard top 100. And even "So Very Hard To Go" which was a relatively big song in comparison, is obscure. It just broke the top 20 but hasn't been played since except on really hard core R&B stations. Which is a shame because it was a damn good song from 1973.

I'm gonna have to agree with Steven on this one ( even before he says it),this is not obscure. But it is a good song so here you go: |

Before Meatloaf (Bat Out Of Hell) was Meatloaf, he did this song with Stoney on Rare Earth records. Notice how the sound is so much like the band Rare Earth who had some great songs. |

Hey all, Some SugarLoaf? Green Eyed Lady? According to Billboard Magazine, this song entered the Top 40 on 9/19/1970 and rolled the Top 40 charts for 12 weeks, peaking at number 3. It wasn't obscure but, to many on this thread, I'll bet it is now. |

record quality was terrible and I couldn't get it to play on my turntable without skipping. Granted, my turntable cost like 15 bucks at the time, but still. I honestly don't miss vinyl.

All I can say is, what a terribly underrated group. I'm going to be sharing a lot of their songs over the coming days starting with this one. From The Alan Parsons Project The Song - "Old And Wise" |

Ok, A group that everyone in my neck of the woods found particularly excellent but got no national exposure because they wouldn't tour. I remember buying this album in the cut out rack (yeah, you old geisers know what a cut out rack is, right?) down at Alwilk records in Elizabeth NJ. Bought it just 'cause of the cover. My oh My, was I pleasantly surprised here's another from that same album Dance, snap your fingers, enjoy! |

Good Rats-Tasty. Remember it well because of the cover. (The cover in the Fireball Express vidoe has a "promotional copy, not for resale" sticker on it.) Good choices. |

Steven, Just a thought. Are we getting near the point of no return with this thread? I'm thinking of that forum glitch that zaps threads - is it after 30 pages? It would be a shame to see all these posts disappear. Maybe we should think about retiring the thread or migrating to a 'Son of Rock & Roll Obscurity' thread. What do you reckon? Frank |
