I have to admit though, I think Greetings from LA was his best imo. | |

Sure, ol' Eddie was great in that film. On the topic of obscure French r&r, here's Little Bob Story. Cool band, horrible at lip synching. |

Well, if me and my friends count, the Jam were gods with some folks stateside. I had the honor of seeing them live and it was awe-inspiring. they belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. |

Here's a band I can't remember being posted in any of the music threads so far; Root Boy Slim. But this is probably his best known song, Christmas at k-Mart: |

We all remember the Dream Academy and their big hit "Life In A Northern Town" (Ah hey ma ma ma ma). Well, this is one of their very obscure tunes that came out the following year (1986) The Song - "Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want" |

One person's blues classic is another's "obscure" song...Here's a classic from ZZ Hill: |

Here's another one hit wonder band from the 70's. A fairly standard "rock anthem" type song from this Canadian mob. Features 3 siblings (2 boys Ben and Jed along with sister Leslie), who are no doubt Mr and Mrs Krauner's pride and joy. This song first came out in 1978 when I was 15 going on 16. Those were the days when I was into both kinds of music (Heavy and Metal). Yet for some strange reason this video fascinated me back then. See if anyone else can understand why a teenage lad would find it so, erm... fascinating. Failing that, just enjoy the song. |

It's hard imagining Paul McCartney doing anything really obscure, but this album certainly qualifies. Totally improvised and critically acclaimed as one of the best albums of 2008 that nobody knew existed... Electric Arguments by the Fireman (Paul McCartney & Youth) The Song - "Sun Is Shining" |

Wow! I have a lot of listening to do. I have only heard a handful of the many songs listed in this thread. I never liked many of the standard "top ten" songs but it looks like I missed a lot of the more obscure ones. Wish I could contribute something but you guys are in another league. Keep them coming.

Cool new stuff. Knew of DFA but Gunslingers are new to me. Here's one of my fave new bands. they're a bunch of kids from Puerto Rico. Great live act - a true party band. And you don't get many of those any more! |

Here's a band that had some success in Holland but never made it in the states. They did some really catchy, albeit very European, tunes that probably never had a chance here. Still, these were some cool dudes and their music can't help but make you smile. Here's one of their catchiest tunes...from 1980..."Rockin The Trolls" |

Time to give some of my hometown buds some love. This is a band from Fort Collins that's making lots of waves in Denver and beyond. Really outstanding and great live. For fans of early XTC, Wire, Mission of Burma, Gang of Four, et. al: |

Would it be too bold of me to plug my other site in this thread (as it's relevant) rockwaves dot net? Oops done. I will choose a couple of these gems and put them on Classic of the Week together with a link back and credit. I also have a radio rock show starting tomorrow which podcasts afterwards on the same site. Some great stuff here guys and a fun post, Steve. Better not plug too much but do pm me if you want the URL of the radio show. So anyway here's my gem:- |
