Playing as good now as he did over a decade ago! Way to go Bret...

Give us older guys something to cheer about.

As a 49er fan that was hard to watch, but yes, Favre is one of the all time best. Amazing play.

That was incredible! It's a good time to be a Viking fan. He was what they needed to make the team complete!

This one's even better - Throwing a pass, and then making it down field to deliver a block... He was playing like a youngster again today.

Great play but the defensive back could/should have easily pushed the receiver out of bounds instead of trying to knock down the pass.

The new rules allow you to push the receiver out of bounds.

There is no longer a force-out rule on pass plays.

The receiver was in the air and could have easily been pushed out of bounds.

Great play through - what a pass and catch!

That's a very risky play though, that has to be timed just right, especially w/ the type of rockets Brett throws. If you start your push off a little too early, you risk pass interference, and you pretty much give up the touchdown whether he catches it or not. Better to lay off, and hope that this is not the 1 in 100 chance that this is the one that will be caught.

Plus if you look at this play, you'll see that they both were up in the air, there's no way he could have pushed him out anyway. It may have been luck, but it was a great pass, and even better catch.

The beauty is what the receiver did with his feet.

And, I'm saying the db should have concentrated on pushing the receiver out of bounds.

He should have realized that he was going to get beat to the ball and...

...a good, well timed shove and the receiver would not have landed in bounds.

You will see this happen before the season is over at the back of the endline.

        Correction...

The ball actually went past where the db (#26) was originally positioned - along the back of the end zone.

He ran in a small circle and lost the ball and his positioning - for an easy knockdown.

( see 35 seconds into the clip )

If I was the db coach I would be pissed.

Oh well. it's just another chapter in the legend of Brent Farve.

That was a great finish to the game.

I probably doubted Favre more than anyone - but if he can comfortably fit into this role of game manager and not gun slinger - then Minny will look real good in the playoffs.

Of course the questions about Favre lately haven't been how does he start the season but how does he finish.

            My thoughts too Teddy.
Lets see how he's doing the last three games of the season instead of the first three.
He is looking good though, I'll give him that.

I'm a Vikes fan and I still doubt him. Not so much in these early weeks, but I am still assuming he either A) won't be around in week 12, or B) he will be so tired and/or racked with pain - but will refuse to come out of the games - that all his typical late game bad decisions will start showing up.

Don't forget how good the Jets were in the first half of the season last year.

Despite the fun of the first three games, I still think his signing will set the Vikings back at least 2-3 years. The only good thing is that we will finally rid ourselves of Childress.

              Besides, its all A.P. anyway.

You may be right, but I have a feeling that you just still have some pent up feelings about what he's done to your team in the past - am I right?

Not at all. But, I will admit that have grown to despise his "act" over the last couple years. I never had a problem with him until the last 2-3 years. I would just prefer that he goes away.

With what the Vikings are paying for him for TWO years, I see no good coming from his being there.

They could have picked up Jeff Garcia in the off season to hand off to AP and throw short passes and not make dumb plays. Mark my words, before this year is over, Favre will cost the vikings at least a game - maybe two - with a dumb late-game ill-advised throw or throws. Then, all of a sudden his injuries will start being an issue. Then, the vikings will have to ask one of the other two QB's who they treated like crap this pre season to save their rear-ends. I wonder how that will work out?

And, that will all end up being enough for them to end up nowhere again this year.

It't too bad, because they are really talented on both sides of the ball.

PS - he was only 15-16 vs the vikings.

Why should he have to go away if he still out performs over half of the quarterbacks in the league, and can still make it to every game? His waffling decisions about retiring, are just brilliant marketing. The only other athlete that I know of that marketed his waffles better was Michael Jordan. Let's not forget that he bounced in and out of retirement a couple of times as well.

I could be wrong - but I'm predicting a John Elway type of retirement season for Bret Favre. - He almost pulled it off his last year as a Packer in 2007. I think GreenBay made a mistake by not letting him come back after giving them a 13-3 record in his last year there. His indecision does make news, but that keeps him and whatever team he's on in the headlines. And that's good for marketing.

PS - Brett's record is 17-14 against the Vikings - and no team has scored more points overall against the Vikings than the Packers.

For me, it was never about Farve being good enough, it's about him being such a media whore about retiring or not.

Farve is a great player, but there's tons of other great players in the NFL that deserve some attention, and I'ld like to see more of.

At least we don't have John Madden and his Farve-fettish to deal with any more....
