How to avoid "working" in bed. Attach my laptop to my desk?

Hi, guys!

I work from home on a laptop.

I often find myself taking the laptop away from my desk (which has an ergonomic chair), and start "working" on the couch or in bed.

This really messes up my posture (I already have several spine and lower-back issues). Plus, I soon get out of "work" mode and into "browse mindlessly" mode. Not good for productivity.

I'm thinking of buying a security cable lock that will attach my laptop to the desk. That way, I won't be able to take my laptop to the bed or couch. It will unlock with a key (not combination) and I will have given the key to a friend who lives nearby.

What do you think about this idea?

Any other tips to prevent me from using the couch and bed to "work"?

Thanks!

Easy, shut off the central heating or cooling to your bedroom and that solves that one.

As for the couch, l tend to go from a table, to chair with leg rest to another chair with a leg rest, (which l don't use).

And have little to no back issues, (but l do Palaties and body weight training, twice a week, so).

And l do all of my online work on a Laptop also.

Not sure about the lock idea, makes it pretty silly if you want to go out for a coffee and do some work?

PS l only tend to watch silly videos late at night as a reward for a hard days work.

Get yourself a desktop PC. Or, you know, some willpower.

lol that's exactly what I was thinking a month ago. But Now I have my working desk next to my bed so whenever I am tired I go to my favorite position;laying on bed while working .
while writing this post I am on my bed .
if you think that you are really productive on couch or bed then I will advise to buy the hospital bed, attached monitor/laptop to the front of your bed and attach wireless key board and mouse.
That is what I am thinking these days .

Who actually types anything in 2017? Your phone has voice recording and those files can be automatically transcribed. Or, you can do direct dictation. Free in the Mac OS and the iPhone OS or use Dragon Dictate for the PC.

      Typing? Seriously??

I only have to take my eyes off the road while texting and driving at 70MPH to proof my copy. These apps are not perfect.

This post was made by touching my keyboard, once - to click 'submit reply.'

      Thank you.

Try working on Desktop. That way, you won't be able to bring your desktop to your bed or couch.

If you weren't financially independent, you would not have this problem. How do I know? People I know who need money get the work that pays them done before they play.

As regards what it does for your spine, talk to yourself in a sterner tone, scream at yourself to stay at the table when you want to move into the bed.

This sounds so strange to me... When I want to do something, I do it. When I don't care about something, it doesn't get done. I don't see how this would be hard. When you get hungry, do you have a hard time getting your hand to hold a spoon/fork and move it to your mouth? Chewing and swallowing your food?
