After Game of Thrones season came to an end I have ran out of TV shows to watch. What TV shows are you currently watching or new seasons premiering soon?

    Hi D,

Right now - years after the fact - I am getting into Ray Donovan,

Wrapped up Narcos Season 3 a few weeks ago.

Netflix documentaries are also dynamite. Some come in series format. Most are really good.

House of Cards rocks. As do old skool series like 30 Rock.

Curb Your Enthusiasm is coming out soon, for the first time in a long time.

These are some of my faves.

    James Franco's, "The Deuce."

Last night I finished binge-watching 3 seasons of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.'" Twisted, but some seriously funny moments.

"The Planets" is off to a good start.

"Endeavour" on PBS ended last Sunday. It wasn't until the final episode that I discovered that Endeavour was the lead characters first name.

Hoping that "Einstein" and "Will" return. Just discovered that the second season of "Victoria" just started, starring Jenna Coleman who was absolutely mesmerizing in the lead role. No photograph could ever capture her charisma, but you must admit, she's a looker. :-)

    You are most welcome!

I am sure that they will bring out a tv series called "Hunger, Hunger Hippo's Game" anytime soon, on FTA.

Centres around hippo's being in the distant future, bored s***less and having to fight each other for some scraps of food.

But it is set in a totalitarian, 1984 type future, so Microsoft gets a good plug!

I am personally waiting for a tv series where there is a apocalyptic world where inept zombie people run about, going for brains, (for obvious reasons) and are clobbered with baseball bats or crowbars in a satisfying and grotesque way.

Check out "Damnation." Best thing about it is that it's a time period and subject matter that is really fresh to TV. Everything else has been done to death. Everything except you, but the year is young. Hope springs eternal.

We know Claude the cameo role, but a slobbering, jelly on a plate type creature that lives in a vat of old donut oil, and occasionally slays a Crispy Creme employee for their complimentary donuts, is well known.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

The Good Place is a GREAT show. Very cute and quirky.

Sense8 is also a fantastic show. Unfortunately it got cancelled after season 2 due to how expensive it was to film, but it's created by the Wachowskis, the same people who directed the Matrix.

    Both are on Netflix!

I just watched an interesting documentary on Animal Planet called "Fear Island - Fortress of the Bears".

It was about an island in the Alaska Aleutians that became isolated after the Ice Age ended and it has the most dense population of bears and also the biggest brown bears.

The crew went in search of a mythical bear called "Grandfather" by the locals that may be the largest bear ever recorded. They didn't capture it on the high quality camera but the did get it on a field camera that was mounted at 6 feet. The hump of the bear was higher than 6 feet, meaning the bear was probably over 13 feet tall when standing on its hind legs, making it the biggest bear ever recorded.

They got some hair samples and the DNA showed it descended from both brown and polar bears. They also tested if it had short faced bear DNA, which went extinct at the end of the Ice Age and was the largest species bear ever known. The DNA tests were inconclusive.

Billions - One of the best shows ever!
Imposters - Just ended the season. Inbar Lavi is a total babe.
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - Stupid funny! The best kind.
    Elementary - Still holding up.
Succession - After two episodes, I think I'm bailing. Insipid dialogue and ridiculous storyline.
NHL Playoff's, baby!!! - Ovie gets his name on the Cup! A long wait until next season. :-(
Westworld - I have no idea what's going on, but I can't stop watching it.
Trust - Just ended Sunday night. John Paul Getty is the character Donald Sutherland was born to play. Hillary Swank was good, too.

Westworld is masterfully presented. A perfect introduction. And When we get to see Anthony Hopkins, it's a treat. A master actor. I agree about this season, it jumps around a lot. The first season really impressed me like the show Fargo and True Detective (the first season).

I watch Bill Mahar too. But I don't think he's a good comedian. His standup isn't that good (in my opinion). But he's smart and knows his stuff. And he gets good guests that can hold their own in a debate.

Yeah, I watched 1 episode of Succession, and the characters are insufferable. I couldn't watch it again.

I'm with you on that one. Although I still watch it, it seems to be approaching it's use by date. New Rules is still worthwhile, but sometimes his panels devolve into the same sort of shouting matches that make CNN unwatchable.

John Oliver is a lot funnier and a lot more informative. The deep dives he does into specific topics are very well done. Recent controversy notwithstanding, Samantha Bee is a lot funnier as well.

I'm highly recommending, "Yellowstone." I'm not big on cowboy crap, but this is modern-day. Excellent writing and casting. Kevin Costner is the main character. Nicely done show.

The opening credits are some of the best I've ever seen. I know, but I pay a lot of attention to them. Best I've seen since. "Genius: Picasso." I don't know if they give Emmys for credits, but those were a sure-fire winner.

I think our expectations are too high coming off the first season. While it was exceptional, season two feels ordinary; like any other police procedural.

Recorded episode 1 of "The Purge." Anyone see that? Any comments.

Also recorded, "Kidding" with Jim Carey? Also just had it's first episode. The promos look like a poor-mans, Pee Wee's Playhouse, perhaps the greatest show in the history of television. lol

Oh, wait. I forgot about Beavis and Butthead.

One of the funniest bits in the history of comedy.

The mugger says, "Your money or your life?"

      Benny's response. "I'm thinking. I'm thinking."

Of course, it's the deadpan droll that puts it over the top.

I just read a few stories about Jack Benny...

He was on Password in the early 60s and the password was "miser". Jack's clue was "ME!".

Another was a joke Jack told. Jack went to Truman's inauguration. Security asked Jack what was in the violin case he was carrying. Jack replied "a tommy gun". The guard responded, "Oh good. I was afraid it was your violin".

He was the best out of getting a laugh out of a joke that bombed. He'd just give that glance of his and everyone would start laughing. I'd bet if you took a poll of comedians from the 40s - 70s. that Jack Benny would be voted the favorite comedian of comedians.

All gold and I would bet you'd be correct on that poll. His interplay with Rochester was a hoot, also.

Yeah, l have watched a few,...funny moments, and the occasional well known actor showing up.

The violin lessons one, where he was putting tissues into his jacket to stock up was whitty and clever.

But l am more into Laugh-in, at the moment, seeing Goldie Hawn when she was around 15 years old is novel.

Laugh In is a good show. I like how fast paced it is. BTW, Goldie was in her early 20s when she did Laugh In.

Early 20's,...could have sworn she wasn't any older than 18, cute though.

You got me on Cher, but Liberace, nope.

Liberace sounds more like a treatment for tinea, than a world famous pianist, so understandably most people used Liver-Archie.

Second winter,....Aussies don't have winter this time of year, hot to stinkin hot is what we usually have.

No it is the flu, a flu lasts for almost 2 weeks and drives me nuts before it ends; l am at the half way mark and almost over it, although l had to do the lawns 2 days ago, as it was looking like a jungle outside, and that put me back a little.

Tried to do too much before Xmas and it has caught up with me, at the worst time, (taking a break wise) but l will milk what time l have and do a few fun things.

Flu shots, nah, they don't work, and l hate needles.

No chest pains, changes in mental awareness, yep, but it is more a head full of cotton wool than anything else, and ears as well. Have the cough one, and the fever has virtually broken, but l have fatigue, or if l go out and do little more than read a paper, and l come home to see what evil deeds have been done here, l tend to want to nod off on the keyboard, and take a short nap, (that ends up being three hours).

I also hear others in the general public coughing like l do, so this evil things is spreading.

Overnight temp, here are comfortable T-shirt on most of the time, with either hot or cool, but the humidity is sky high, so our day temp's are either sauna or sunbed.

                    But l appreciate your concern.

WHAT, l am on my deathbed, with only 50 years of life left in me, and you two are making jokes, (quite good jokes) about it, pfffft.

Worse still the Xmas pudding is all gone, and the brandy custard is nearing its useby date, (maybe l should let it go way past, to see if l have an overwhelming urge to skull the lot, late at night, that might just prove that l have the dreaded Claudemydia virus).

Probably have to exile me to Wooster Ohio, where they have the advanced Claudemydia Virus and Bubblegum Clinic.

The sweaty, overweight and balding doctors, wouldn't bother me, or the oversized, balding nurses listening to horse races on their radio's, but the reports of an overweight, balding, sweaty guy in a bubblewrap suit tip pie-toing through the halls late at night juggling a cow bell, is too horrific to bear.

The Man in High Castle is one of the best series on Amazon along with the Grand Tour. There's so many new series on Amazon, Hulu, and Netflix it's hard to sort through the bad ones to find the hidden gems.just finished watching the second season of Iron Fists it was pretty good. Does anyone know when Vikings and Knightfall will be back?

Bodyguard ( A BBC production but available on Netflix everywhere outside the UK). A thriller that covers terrorism, organised crime, government/police/security services corruption. Starts off with a nail biter of an opening, and finishes with one. Well worth devoting 6 hours of your life to.

The Sinner Season 2 (Netflix everywhere outside the US). A bit darker than Season 1 but still with enough twists and turns to make for compelling viewing.

The Last Kingdom Season 3 (Netflix worldwide) - been a fan of this for a couple of years now.

Narcos: Mexico (Netflix worldwide) As the name implies the producers have moved the setting from Colombia to Mexico. Based (loosely) on real events.

Vikings Season 5 (History Channel/Netflix) The saga continues.

Secret City (An Australian political thriller available on Netflix worldwide). I must admit to being pleasantly surprised at how good this one was.

Frontier (Netflix worldwide) A show aboot () Canadian pioneers in the 18th century.

No Activity Season 2 (CBS in the US, Stan in Australia) An American take on the dry as a bone Aussie comedy which is also on Stan. Thankfully they haven't changed it too much from the original and ruined it as is the case every time Americans try to remake great shows from other countries. Probably due to the creator of the Aussie classic also being the main writer and producer of the US version. He even stars in it with an American accent of course.

Yep, enjoyed se2, ep1, and l thought that "Voyager, hands up" was going to be a bad or silly song, but it wasn't, and Bortus's home world looks errarely like Vulcan.

So going to Bortus home world to do something that they would never do in the mainstream version, is no doubt a clever side gag.

So good story development, and the gags are not toilet humor, (well, a little) and more clever jokes than usual.

      Should be a good season.

Yes, the Orville is turning into the Borus show, l hope that they give some of the others a plug, (they gave the chief of security a good run in season 1) but the chief navigation officer, they could do the rest of the season around him,....and the holodeck, lol.

The zodiac idea was interesting, but the baby scene, l thought that we had got that fillin, out of our systems in the 90's.

Might take a while what with 90's cliche ridden "having a baby" usually while eating dinner scenes, and such.

Also watch Windy City Rehab the past few weeks. The buying of old homes in Chicago and turning them into a nice place to live is amazing. Other shows on HGTV are good, but this one holds my interest lately.

Parker is starting to appreciate the people that work for him and pretty much lets them know it. Learning from the school of hard knocks. He should have been a better person from the start and I am not saying that his success (millions) was to blame. It is good to see that he is capable of learning from his mistakes and blames only himself.

I finally started watching The Big Bang theory on Netflix.

The laughter track is cheese on toast and takes a lot of getting used to (like other shows), but having seen a version of the show without it, it's borderline scary.

This show apparently has Young Sheldon when he is older, so not much more needs to be said.

But since he is in a sitcom he obviously cannot develop some software or site he can sell off for millions, (Musk developed PayPal when he was young, and got around $132 million later on).

I watch MASH without the laugh track, and it doesn't have this annoying lull inbetween the conversation, although it is generally a lot funnier than the example above.

  • I loved Game of Thrones!!!
I was pretty excited and frustrated, as its return was not until 2019, so I was looking for a TV show to watch, after going through a lot of websites and talking to friends, I came to a conclusion that I should watch Vampire Diaries, I loved it.
But then I went through a serious break-up and was looking to sort it out then my friend suggested this brilliant How to get your Ex Back stuff and it really worked according to it and I'm so glad it worked.

I watch Jeopardy almost nightly. It helps me with quick recall as I get older. While I like the show, I don't really care for Trebek.

I estimate I'd win about one out of every 10-12 shows but wouldn't come in third very often either.

I struggle with categories like literature, classical music, opera. I keep hoping for categories like "Denver Bronco Quarterbacks" and "Kurt's Favorite Pizza Toppings", but no luck so far.

I had given up on West World after watching all of Season 1 and then the first episode of Season 2. Let me tell you what a mistake that was! Season 2 really warps your mind and takes you on a ride of possibility/reality/imagination.

Anyone still watching Walking Dead? Is it worth it to catch up gave up on it 2-3 years ago. It was getting really repetitive and kind of agonizing to sit through.

I gave up on it as well. It became extremely formulaic:

      1) Move to new place and kill zombies along the way;
      2) Arrive at new place and encounter new people;
      3) Unite with new people, or fight them;
      4) New place gets over run by zombies so... (back to step 1).

      Repeat ad infinitum.

What makes it worse is that there are only two possible endings:
      1) Kill all the zombies (highly improbable)
      2) Get killed by zombies and become zombies.

There's a third possible ending, although that has nothing to do with the story. After a future season ends the producers see that they're losing more and more viewers with each passing season and knock it on the head.

I was looking forward to how they would produce that episode long battle on Game of Thrones and lo and behold it took place in darkness (with efforts clearly made to lower brightness)......in a blizzard!

This is the same kind of tactic that's rife in computer games. If they don't want to hassle of having to render so many objects or add details, they will just make the scene night and / or throw in some bad weather.

Night and bad weather is expected, but they went overboard here and it was quite obvious why.

I remember the first Silent Hill. they could completely do away with draw distance since all you done outside was roam around in thick fog.

GoT was enjoyable nonetheless though and I'm interested to see where it's heading.

Which unfortunately is the pilot only, no more were made.

I know that Mark will like it with reality changing, but the concept was a little annoying although a good concept.

I still like the original Time Tunnel 1966 version though.

And a few more episodes may have been produced, l will have to Google it.

The original time tunnel did have an episode where a well known individual from the middle ages was plucked up and put down a few hundred years in the future, during the civil war, so similar but this tunnel was more haphazard, and yea good but not as good as the original.

Australia hasn't abolished guns, just semi-automatic and automatic guns. I assume you don't have a criminal record so there's nothing stopping you applying for a license, and no doubt being allowed to buy a gun.

        Go for it I say.

According to this totally unreliable source, there's one bloke (you have to assume it's a bloke - most women don't have the need for phallus compensation), owns 131 guns.

Although some are really not liking the current writing of GOT... well for me I do, although I am not a die-hard fan. It is not the same as seasons 1-5 but nonetheless it is entertaining.

I finished watching season 6 of House of Cards... wtf????? The ending??? Very vague.

Although Claire acting and all was good, the show was just meh.... season 1-5 were the best.

I don't watch many TV Shows these days. Long gone those times where I binged watched many days after days. Looks like you tend to not care about watching much anyways when you have a higher sense of responsibility and trying to make income on IM because your so focused on watching videos and reading.

Yeah, I'd sooner keep off the bandwagon which expects everything to be perfect, but the last two issues in the episodes were definitely noteworthy and entertaining in themselves - each related too.

It's all good and it's not my work.

And also from what l read today, hypes up the death tally.

Or reports went up to half a million, but in reality about 100 people died, some school children and some workers.

And quite ironically over 1000 committed suicide, because of the fear of radiation poisoning.

Fear and hype can cloud judgement, as to what is really true and no doubt someone who lived in the general area, would react with dispassion and emotional aloofness rather than discuss it, to realize that there is no poisoning taking place.

People that come from fear are pretty difficult to talk to, but they tend to oil their own guillotine, through their band-aid remarks, although a Geiger counter and confirmation that the background radiation is not lethal might create reassurance?

More arrant nonsense from you. I notice you didn't post a link to this crap, because there isn't a reliable one.*

The absolute truth is that we will never know for sure exactly how many deaths will be attributable to the incident, either those who died directly from the incident or those who died from radiation poisoning subsequent to it, or even those who are still to die.

The best guesstimate so far is around 4,000 deaths.

        * And don't even think about posting a link to Andrew Bolt's column in the Herald Sun. Bolt has already been convicted by a court of law because of lies he told on another matter. He is not an expert on anything except peddling right wing propaganda on behalf of his paymaster, Rupert Murdoch. I notice he didn't provide any links to reputable sources in his column, knowing full well that his target audience (the moron demographic) will swallow whatever crap he publishes, especially those who haven't watched the show and never will.

That's nice, here is an article from a source that puts it down to 31, (The Enquirer, pretty sure RM doesn't own that).

Oksana died, as did many others -but because no data was kept from before the disaster, nothing can be proven. Today, as the TV series points out, the official number of directly attributable victims of Chernobyl is 31. Other, "unscientific", estimates vary from 4,000 to 93,000.
          https://www.theguardian.com/environm...s-kim-willsher

I know not very reliable but it will do.

And Bolt pushes the rules on something he commented on 10 years ago, according to a judge in Australia, enough said.

There's the money quote for you, which was my main point - no-one will ever know for sure how many deaths are attributable to the incident, whether it be 31, 100 or 100 million.

And since you brought up Queensland, aren't all those rednecks going to thrilled that the Adani mine which they were promised originally would create 10-15,000 jobs, is now likely to produce "around (in other words less than) 100 ongoing jobs" according to the new Agricultural Minister (Google it yourself to find whatever you think is a reliable news outlet).

Senator Bridget McKenzie, Deputy Leader of the Nationals, says it will create around 100 ongoing jobs
In the meantime there isn't a bank on Earth who is willing to lend them the money to start the project.

Stumble upon Undercover Billionaire last night on the Discovery Channel. He is going to try and build a Million dollar business under 90 days. Little different from Secret Millionaire or under cover boss.

The guy is in Erie Pa and doing all small odd jobs. He is not using his own money to build a business. The show was filmed around Saint Patricks Day and he was sleeping in a old pickup truck and eating Ramen Noodles.

His point is to show the American Dream is still alive. When he pitched the idea to the Discovery Channel. You can look up more info by doing a google search and watch the trailer. I thought it was a decent show last night and would recommend it to a lot of people on this forum.

    Two new series I'm watching:

The Loudest Voice - about Roger Ailes and the setting up of the FoxNews channel, with Russell Crowe as Ailes, Naomi Watts as Gretchen Carlson and Seth MacFarlane as Brian Lewis. Crowe is either wearing a ton (literally) of body padding and makeup, or has really let himself go. I suspect it's the former. One episode in but so far so good.

Perpetual Grace Ltd - a story about a couple of religious con artists who've scammed lots of people out of their life savings and are a pretty dangerous duo. Stars Ben Kingsley and legendary Aussie actress Jackie Weaver as the duo.

That's some pretty big name stars involved in these shows. Oscar winners Crowe and Kingsley, nominees Watts and Weaver, MacFarlane who is becoming a real Renaissance man with a multitude of talents. The other actors in the shows are worthy of the company they're in as well.

    Both shows recommended.

Claude, you'd probably like this...I've been watching Strongest Men in History. 4 of the strongest guys in the World travel and try to duplicate (or beat) legendary feats of strength.

Brian Shaw is from Colorado and is HUGE. 6'8" 445. Some think he could be the strongest human to ever live.

I also caught part of Undercover Billionaire where a rich guy starts with nothing and tries to build a million dollar business in 90(?) days. It looks interesting, although he does have a pickup. I think it would be much tougher being homeless with no transportation, especially a pickup which can be used to make money. But he does seem to know entrepreneurship...

Like Arnold said, how do you measure who's the strongest? Is it the person that can dead lift the most or bench 250 the most number of times? I'm not sure. But I do know if I was driving down the canyon and was buried in a rock slide, I'd want Shaw to be the one to move the boulders.

            An interesting fact of physics...

The larger you are, the weaker you are...per pound of body weight.

As human size increases, there is actually a point where the added strength is overcome by the added weight.

The reason this happens is that your strength multiplies at half the rate of your weight.

It's why gymnasts are smaller people. It's why small mammals, like mice can run at speeds (relative to body weight), and leap at distances (relative to height), that we can't come close to.

It's why ants can carry 20 times their body weight. It isn't because they are so strong....exoskeletons are far weaker than having the muscle over the bones....it's because they are so small....and weigh so little.

Shaw is extremely strong. And it helps that he's huge. But there are men that are far stronger if you measure strength relative to body weight.

Yes, as animals get larger, their proportional strength decreases.

A point that is often left out, is that due to the physics of physics like leverage, rigidness, etc, it often takes more strength for larger people to do things like bench press. It takes more strength for a 6'5" man to bench 250 than a 5'5" man, and that's just for leverage. The 6'5" man is also moving the weight 3-4 inches more in both directions. Like Arnold said, how do you measure strength?

Nature doesn't care about size and there are no such things as weight classes in nature. These are simply man-mad concepts created for our sense of "fair". Let the ant tell me how much stronger it is proportionately than me as I smite it.

The Family on Netflix. A very disturbing documentary mini-series I can't go into details about since it covers both relijan and polytix. 10/10.

The Spy (Netflix), starring Sacha Baron Cohen (Ali G, Borat, Who Is America) in his first (as far as I'm aware) straight role and he's very good. Inspired by events that involved Israeli "superspy", Eli Cohen. It also stars Noah Emmerich previously seen in the brilliant espionage drama series The Americans.9/10

    Mindhunter Season 2 (Netflix): If you liked S1, you'll like S2. 9/10

The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance (Netflix): A prequel to the 1982 Jim Henson movie. If you liked the movie, you'll also enjoy this show. It recaptures the world and themes that made the original movie a hit with fantasy fans everywhere. Safe to watch with children as well. 9/10

Utopia Season 4 (known as Dreamland outside of Australia) (ABC). Anyone who's ever worked in a big bureaucratic organisation, whether it be government or corporate will recognise most of the characters. They're portrayed as being what they are in the real world, ie complete arseclowns, especially the marketing and HR departments. Very funny. 10/10.

As for muscle gals, it is like Writhe Free Nite in a fish market dommed by Satan ... repurposed as a livin' underskin tattoo of zero frickin' significance whatsoevah.

Tellya, we gals commune regular as srsly weaponised harridans to discuss ways we might max out our genetic exotica with all kindsa supplementary health & byooty aids from lipstick to customised personal taser cannons -- an' word out rn for Princess is plz don't get nowan to flush your butt with no kinda tumescifyin' slooshie!
