Hi,

I've been roped into creating a hard copy brochure for a local restaurant - still not quite sure how that happened but anyway....

What I would like to do is copy a couple of comments people have made about the restaurant on travel forums such as trip advisor. My plan is not to use the persons name but just the website where it came from such as "see what others are saying - Trip Advisor......, ........, .......etc

Can you see anything wrong in doing this?

Thanks for your thoughts

While what you want to do, quoting a source website without
explicit permission, might be technically something somebody
could sue you about, chances are nothing bad will happen.

Trip Advisor may or may not be "agro" about it if their lawyers
find out. Technically, if a person posted it on the Trip Advisor
website the content probably belongs to Trip Advisor.

    Hi Loren,

Thanks for your thoughts. I just wanted an idea of what I was getting into before I did it.

    I skirt the issue with:
    It has been said
    Many visitors comment on
The soups crezette is becoming famous as far off as -- with people exclaiming:
If you try the soups crezette with our 3 inch steak you too will be saying that your whole body trembles until you come back for more.

Then there is always the ploy of sitting next to the exit and if you see people smiling on their way out, stop them and ask for their opinions. "May I quote you on this?" "This would be wonderful on our three page brochure going out to 10,000 chicken lovers.. Would you like to have your picture appear along side of your comments?"

    Apply yourself.

The easy way out that works just as well as testimonies is to find out what they sell most of. Then you can just adjective it out without testimony........

The homemade warm mulberry pie with its flaky crusts and plump locally grown berries is a favorite of the locals who often order a hot whipped cream topped cup of the house's rich original blend of French roast to complement the dish.......
Sounds much more tempting than "Joe says he really enjoys the place a lot".

Damn it. Now I'm hungry again. Good luck.........got to get to the kitchen............

    Thanks Sal and Talewins

I love the way you've written this!! I already knew that I'm not a copywriter but your posts have inspired me. Until your comments I probably would have gone with "Joe says he really enjoys
    the place a lot".

Thanks for the ideas - now back to the drawing board.
