Yes, l have Norton for my w7 Tosh, Laptop, and it is fine, overall.

But the autofill part is a dog, (you have to jump through a lot of hoops to use it, without it being in your face) so l use Dashlane instead for that.

Dash,...is free, but occasionally they pull your account and try to force you onto their paid one, (no prob, thought just set up a new one.

And go Norton through Ebay, it only costs around $25 for 3 PC,s and you can download the key immediately.

And be wary of the ones that send it, since that requires you to go online to their site, (that can be riddled with scammers hijacking Nortons address, (not something you want to go through).

I recommend Malwarebytes definently one of the best ones there is. MB is usually used not as a full protection suite but more as one in a while scan your pc for viruses. But I believe the paid version has that full protection. But another really good free one is Avast. A lot of antiviruses slow down your pc, but Avast isn't too heavy.

I second this. Utilizing Avast with Malwarebytes is more than sufficient. A large problem people see is when using Malwarebytes, they are expecting full protection. However, it's anti-malware not anti-virus software. I recommend bundling the two.

If you are talking about offline, then you will get an empty box with a key, for around $55 for one PC.

And online, Norton only seems to sell the bells and whistles one, at $100 a year, with the only advantage that you can keep what is left of your previous subscription.

But a lot cheaper, (as l did) to forget about what subscription you have left and buy Norton for all of your PC's in one hit, so all have the same time frame.

True, Malware is great in scanning and picking up stuff Norton misses, but on newer PC/laptops the free version constantly pesters you to buy it, and if l remember correctly is free for a limited time.

I have it on a 6 year old Laptop, and it is free indefinately, but not on the 1 year old newer one.

You have a Windows 7 Laptop?. Why? You would have had the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. If it's as old as the O/S, that makes it up to 9 years old.If it's new, why Windows 7? (please ignore any Australian interventions) Perhaps you inherited it recently or bought it second hand?

I use Windows Defender which is free and works perfectly. Why anyone would buy Norton or anything else escapes me.

True, 10 is great, apart from stuttering with modern games, the zero privacy thing, the installing updates when it wants, near zero transparencies and sheet of paper graphics, (sorry, my mistake sheet of colored paper) and blatant advertising during startup, when you buy some software.

None of which, l used it for three days, installed Photoshop, and the next time l switched it on, two Abobe ad's showed up, on startup.

Also installed the 1 month free trial version, but the add's still showed up, even after the forced updates crippled it!

True, some of the issues with W10 in October 2016, (when l got my one from Tosh, China) have been made better, and even l have to admit that the frosty transparency on w10 on the Microsoft dedicated laptops, (competing with Apple Airs) look nice.

Norton was probably the best I've used. It's kind'a pricy though, and heavy on the system. I use 360 total security in my desktop and AVG in my laptop. The best free stuffs I have found out there.

There is no BEST AV for any Operating System, period! All AVs have their goods and bads, whether it's detection rates, ram hogging or whatever. Windows Defender should suffice if you don't surf "naughty" or "hottie" LOL. If or when you are hit by one, then use Windows Defender to scan through. Whereby unsuccessful, then try out whatever FREE AVs there are. Just sharing my thought

i think you should upgrade your windows first. nowadays latest windows have a own antivirus. and it works really well. otherwise Norton is pretty good for antivirus.

A freelancer I hired for a graphics design job years ago recommended Bitdefender to me. It's done me great so far, and is quite aggressive when it comes to malware. Plus it comes with a specialized protected browser intended for online banking and other transactions. I have used Norton in the past though and it's good too. I just prefer Bitdefender over it.

Paid antivirus probably Norton but if you're looking for a reliable free one, I usually go for Avira. They're pretty good except that you have to survive the random pop up ads from them on occasion which can only be removed if you subscribe to their premium plan.

Upgrade, sounds like a contradiction in terms?

I have had W7Pro for a year now, with zero updates, (including sneaky ones) and the OS is purring.

Microsoft may run, "we care about you, so you should update" and "the latest free upgrade gives you the best protection" and "we have your three year old interests at heart" but they are really saying is "buy our s***t" and "buy our s***t or else".
