Hi, I own a 2004 Mazda RX-8. Great little car that has amazing handling and of course the controversial rotary engine. Even though its not a torque monster the rotary engine has a 10 rpm rev limit so you can make this thing scream. As a matter of fact it is recommended to redline this car at least once a week if not everyday (I redline everyday!!!) because this keeps the carbon deposits from building up in the engine.
Another quirky thing about the rotary engine is that oil is shot into engine to keep the apex seals lubricated so this car uses more oil than you would think.
Many owners of first generation RX-8's pre-mix two stroke oil into the gas tank every time they fill up, to lubricated the apex seals. This really seems to help the car run smoother.
Mazda was the only Japanese car manufacture to win the 24 Hour Lemans in 1991 and the only manufacture to win using a rotary engine (over 700 hp from a 2.6 liter engine). Toyota won the 24 Lemans this year (2018).
I plan on doing a few simple mods to my car like lower the suspension with Tien coilovers, adding a sport exhaust, upgraded brakes, and an after market cold air intake.
Mazda stopped making the RX-8 in 2011 because of problems with the apex seals. Many people who owned rotary engine car don't know how to take car of them so the engine wears out prematurely.
I also love Audis and Corvettes. Chevy has done a really good job with the C7 Vette. It is now on par with the European supercars in performance and styling. They could still do a little better with the interior styling but it's still a huge improvement over past corvettes.
I suck at working on cars but I love to drive on a good winding back road!

Driving is one of the most stress releasing thing you can do. Especially on open road.

I live in my car during the summer, but if I can't put the top down, I spend the day swimming in the lake. If I could just find a way to drive the car, in the lake, life would be perfect.

Please spare me the cheesy, YouTube, car-boat videos. Predictable and woefully boring.

Hmm spent more than 3/4 of my life working on cars. Still work in the Automobile industry after 35 plus years and played around with race cars instead of a social life. Purchased 95 % of the things I own or bought in the past. Still have a top and bottom Snap on Tool box with side cabinets and a few grand worth of tools....Nah don't like cars

Oh btw. For your information own a Toyota with close to 200,000 miles on it and still have a 96 Chevy pickup. Went to a car show a few weeks ago at Monmouth Park and took pictures of the cars there.

Ever hear of the terms Moog, Borg Warner, Manley, Crower, Bilstein, etc ?

Sure, Moog and Moon Equipment, Edelbrock, Holley, Cragar,

I was more into British bikes in my youth, Triumph, BSA, Norton, but we spent our Friday nights at the Atco Va-va-va-voom-way. Best drag strip on the east coast.

Ed, "Big Daddy" Roth, the Rat Fink was my hero. This is the type of car I was into.

No matter what anyone tells you, there's no right or wrong way to be a car enthusiast. You can be the encyclopedic type who memorizes every spec or you can be the type who just just really enjoys driving well-balanced cars.
