I said this would happen before the end of the year. People really loving those overpriced, 'crap' products. lol

I'm now calling Apple stock at $300 by the end of 2019.

You can either laugh, or follow my lead. That just depends on how smart you are and whether or not you want to work like a dog for the rest of your life. Your call. :-)

Very interesting! I'm fairly new to stocks, but I didn't expect Apple to ever get that big in terms of stock. I always expected Amazon in its place. I should get to work on making income so I can follow your lead and invest in this stock!

I know nothing about stocks. Less than nothing actually. You didn't need to be a brain trust to know that Apple was going to be a winner. All you needed was a modicum of understanding on human psychology and the ability, through experience, of being able to recognize high-quality products from a true visionary.

It was so obvious to so many people the day the Mac launched, that it's hard to understand how everyone didn't see it.

There will still be losers bad-mouthing Apple when it becomes the world's first 2 trillion $$ company. They'll be talking about glue, non-expandability, obscene prices and fanboys. lol

Its hard to believe a cash rich business like Apple just crossed $200.00 While Tesla is bleeding cash evey 1/4 and is valued you at $ 349.00 at the end of todays close. And Amazon is $ 1834.00 makes no sense why Apple lags behind. Nice to see they hit 1 trillion today.

To Wannapreneur be very cautious and read up on Warren Buffett and get a hold of value investing from Benjamin Graham. Take your time and save up some money. The markets are going to be here in the future. In the mean time listen to the OP use your head and keep emotion out of it.

Much of this has to do with the company's historical stock splits over time. If I'm correct, Tesla has never had one and Apple has had 4 since the company went public. The stock split on a 7-for-1 basis on June 9, 2014 and split on a 2-for-1 basis on February 28, 2005, June 21, 2000, and June 16, 1987. Another slit is expected in 2018.

Had these splits not occurred, you'd be looking at a much higher stock price, certainly much higher than Tesla's. At one point Apple's stock was priced at $700 per share. Eat that, Tesla. :-)

I agree Tesla has taken a bit of a dive today, (or tonight for me) which was expected.

The main reason for yesterdays surge, was this announcement...

The main reason was because Musk apologized to an analyst on a conference call.

How would a surfboard NOT be the perfect Apple product? You get to glue the layers together, no reason to upgrade, they can charge whatever they want and that segment of the market that will pay anything to own the best surfboard ever made will gladly pay it, and that segment gets to be called Apple fan boys. Sheer brilliance!

It doesn't take a marketing genius to figure this shit out.

That was the second most important reason. Don't apologize to the analysts, have them slam you - you can slash your prices all you want but it won't matter as you will have already slashed your corporate throat.

You need to learn market fundamentals. I know nothing about the market. You'd need to really apply yourself to demonstrate that you know even less than I do.

I applaud you for getting-off to such a great start. Keep up the good work. :-)

So you had one good day with Tesla a company that burned thru $740 Million in cash last 1/4. So far Tesla has cost investors $ 5 billion in total ! He has lost dozens of senoir executives.https://www.reuters.com/article/us-t...-idUSKCN1IG2G2 Was granted the largest exectutive compensation package in history....

Its going to get better Merecedes, BMW and VW have all entered in to his market... Lets see BMW pays a 5% dividend and Tesla is the hole ! Yet BMW can be purchased today for $82.50 vs. Tesla $348.16. ( From Yahoo Finacial ).. I like Elon with his Rockets and Boring Company and the fact he woke the manufactures in the Auto Industry. Tesla's future does not look that good. Play it safe than sorry. Just my .02

Oh just for the record of all the FAANG, I like Apple the best and consider it different from a company like Tesla or Netflix. Just a better and more profitable run company.

Don't count them out. They'll finally be profitable before the year is out and they have great margins. Guys like Elon Musk won't give the world the satisfaction of letting the us consider him a loser.

He'll do whatever it takes to win and in spite of a bit of immaturity, he's probably the smartest guy out there.

Now, how could I ever rail against THAT???

SHane is incapable of understanding long term trends and what actually effects the value of a stock ..

so mentioning that not only is apple a profitable company .. but after the big Tax break corporations have gotten this year.. apple is the biggest playing in the stock buy back game.. tens of billions of it profits to buy back huge chunks of stock .. so people expecting prices to go higher because of buyback.. and the high frequency trade algorithms push the stock prices up..

now this has been a long term trend .. so i understand IT is completely outside some peoples ability to grasp such things exist .. couple that with apple being a company that make lots of money selling iphones and expensive tech devices ..to fan base willing to spend 1000 dollars almost every year for the newest phone ..

now as far as surfboards go.. if apples sold a cool looking surfboard with a built in waterproof i bpad or i phone .. so people could paddle around and sit on their boards and surf the waves and the web.. big seller ...

If Apple never had the IPhone, it would never be anywhere near a trillion dollar company. The brand, ownership snobbery counted for something and a more friendly packaged MP3 player in the past made them a lot of money.

Now, really, it is still the phone that makes most of their revenue. A one trick, one stop pony. When that finally get's eroded, which it will, they will have nothing. The other products of recent years are overpriced, underpowered, un-repairable trash with limited use.

The PC has caught up and surpassed what they can do in computer terms, range of software, usability etc. Even the niche of graphic design that Apple used to dominate is being eroded.

So Apple may end up with a pile of cash, and I hope they invest it into other companies or buy them out. Their is no evidence currently that they have anything new of their own to promote.

Riding on the back of past glories is a fickle thing.

to a point you are correct.. and i don't care much about apple..and your argument false apart any because apple did have the iphone .. and for now every year or so people are willing to purches the newer version for even more money than the new version they bought a year before.. so until the new fetures do not prove to be worth the 1000$ ..or this trade war blossoms and drives up the price of IPhones dramatically ..

i can't predict the when.. but i can point out the trend ..and i don't really care about apple .. i just pointed out the long term trend .. of appple being one of the companies who either borrowed money from the government to buy back it's stock .. while it was piling money up over seas waiting for the tax code to change.. and now that they are bringing that money back.. there are doing record setting buybacks.. which is part f the reason for the upward pressure ..

big companies disappear fast these days.. and i don't have skin in the game so if apple declared bankruptcy tomorrow ..i would not care ...

Apple's main growth is in ''services,' people.

A beneath-the-surface look at Apple's services and other-products segments shows how both catalysts are still benefiting from significant momentum.

In its fourth quarter of fiscal 2017, services and other products revenue was up 34% and 36%, respectively. That was up sharply from 22% and 23% year-over-year growth for the two segments in Q3. But this momentum appeared to end in Apple's first quarter of fiscal 2018, when the company reported year-over-year revenue growth for services and other products of 18% and 36%.

These first-quarter growth rates, however, fail to take into account the impact of Apple's shorter first quarter in fiscal 2018. During Apple's first-quarter earnings call, CFO Luca Maestri was careful to point out how different services revenue growth would have looked had the quarter included the same number of weeks as the year-ago quarter.

"Turning to services, we had a terrific quarter, with revenue of $8.5 billion, up 18% year over year, and up 27% in terms of average revenue per week," Maestri explained.

Further, it's worth noting that Apple's fourth-quarter year-over-year services growth rate of 34% was overstated because of a favorable one-time adjustment during the quarter of $640 million. Excluding this one-time adjustment, fourth-quarter services revenue would have increased 24% year over year. That's why Maestria also noted that 27% year-over-year growth for services revenue in Q1 was "an acceleration to the 24% services growth run rate that we experienced in the September quarter."

After accounting for these adjustments, Apple's services revenue growth would have accelerated in each of the previous three quarters. Meanwhile, Apple's recent acceleration in other-products revenue would have been particularly pronounced.

          ###

APPLE IS DEAD!!! There's no limit to the depths people will go to embarrass themselves by calling attention to their complete lack of knowledge on topics they can't resist opining about. It's simply laughable. Unfortunately, it's the same, old song.

Their strategy is awesome, study and learn from them. I have written something the great entrepreneurship most important characteristics are here

For investment purposes it's not lucrative. there are other better options you can try.
Tsk, tsk. I'm pretty sure that linking to your personal blog is a violation of forum rules, even in the OT.

I tried to read the blog post, but seriously, why would you not have someone proof your writing if you are so deficient in proper English? If your audience is mainly English speaking, your output is woefully deficient.

Not trying to slam you. Just bringing up something that I shouldn't really need to bring up. It's bad. :-( Steve Jobs would not approve.

Just a better and more profitable run company.

so mentioning that not only is apple a profitable company .. but after the big Tax break corporations have gotten this year.. apple is the biggest playing in the stock buy back game.. tens of billions of it profits to buy back huge chunks of stock .. so people expecting prices to go higher because of buyback.. and the high frequency trade algorithms push the stock prices up..

now this has been a long term trend .. so i understand IT is completely outside some peoples ability to grasp such things exist .. couple that with apple being a company that make lots of money selling iphones and expensive tech devices ..to fan base willing to spend 1000 dollars almost every year for the newest phone ..

now as far as surfboards go.. if apples sold a cool looking surfboard with a built in waterproof i bpad or i phone .. so people could paddle around and sit on their boards and surf the waves and the web.. big seller ...
Incapable of long term trends, lol, like when Pinterest and Uber go IPO, l should just keep away from those.

Don't know about Pinterest, but yes, you should avoid Uber like the plague.

i don't know why shane would invest in uber anyone ..where they are planning to eventually put most of their fleet out as autonomous vehicles ..a big part of ubers growth was not actually having to own the cars .. now if they own fleets of autonomous cars..they become liable for every accident where the private owners/drivers now cover those costs ..

but of course uber lyft and other ridesharing companies.. are trying to get regulations pushed through to limit private ownership of autonomus vehicles .. so they don't have to compete again local mini fleets

I remember having a conversation here on the WF in about 2005 and some were commenting about how Microsoft "won". My point was Apple still was worth a lot of money and being "second" doesn't mean you lost. Times have sure changed and I wonder where those folks are now?
