Blogging for a Smoking Cessation Niche

I have been blogging for almost 4 months now in the smoking cessation niche. Recently, I have been writing 2-3 blogs per week. I promote my own book and post snippets of my book as "Teasers" on different topics related to the niche.

There are 2 Challenges to overcome:

1.) I am beginning to run out of topics.
2.) I am attracting Ex-Smokers and Non-Smokers rather that Smokers, despite my content and keywords.

What do you think about following popular publications and writing a blog based on the article outline?
Can anyone offer ideas to better reach my market (Smokers) ?

  • You can do some research on what are the problems that most smokers faced and focus on writing around these key topics.

Your blog is going seriously Ashtray. I'm stubbed to come up with an answer but I'm sure there is A Light at the end of the tunnel. I'm just going out for a smoke and I'll think about this.

Google keywords in the niche and find semantic keywords that pop up. Plenty of blog post ideas there. Also yep; read top pubs and write on similar topics. These pubs never run out of ideas; neither will you John.

Maybe engage with your existing ex-smokers and non-smokers audience and create content that will make them share to their friends who want to quit smoking. I don't think having them is much of a problem. I think it's a good thing.

As with content ideas running dry, try reading quora - https://www.quora.com/topic/Smoking-Cessation

May I know your website? I am also in this niche and it would be great to benefit from each other's expertise and resources.

In the US, the percentage of smokers has been declining for the last 30 years due to de-marketing efforts by major insurance companies, employers, schools, advocacy groups, government intervention, etc. More than 1 million people quit smoking every year, and it's not because of reading blogs or buying a book.

However, there is a sharp increase of smoking among teens, less educated (non-college graduates), and generally in the lower socio-economic demographics. You are attracting ex-smokers and non-smokers perhaps because they know someone else who smokes. They should actually be your marketing target.
