well run the numbers .. are there any 149 year olds this pill might add a year to in the next year ..

i'm a life extension believer .. but it's still in the early stages and .. it's not going to be a better vitamine pill..

multiple life changes .. top not diet ..specific types of excerises .. combined will medicle clensing and youthing treatments .. the cutting edge at this point .. is drawing blood or blood plasma from young people and injecting it in older people .. which seems to help older people regenerate better ..

at some point tech will allow treatment of blood outside the body to cause the blood cells or plasma.. to mimic a younger state .. then be returned to the persons body ..

but marketing is marketing .. so the one pill mericle life extension breakthroughs .. will be around every corner ..

they is stuff we can do now .. to vastly increase the quality of out daily lives and delay the onset of degenerative diseases ..

Cells only divide so many times...until mistakes start happening. And that's why we age, and show the symptoms of aging. Our cells become less stable the more times they reproduce. Our genes simply start making mistakes.

I'm not going to read the article, because the headline is nonsense. But if there is a way to keep our genes from degrading after repeated cell division...or a way to keep our cells from reproducing..we may be able to extend our lives. But so far, there seems to be a hard limit to how long a human can keep functioning...and it's at about 120 years.

Of course, I'm ignoring all the evidence that vampires are real, or that we can become immortal through repeated time travel...you know...the Classics.

the article is hyped marketing for some special b vitamin supplement ..i don't believe vampires are real.. maybe people who drink blood .. but no immortality or special powers ..just human with murderous tastes ..

we are at the beginning of the research for live extension ..10-20 year with any real attention to it ..and at this point with all the information why people get sick or develope degenerative diseases .. the best someone can really expect if they make the needed changes .. it to live healthy to about a hundred ..years old ..

which means a big change to retirement expectation or career planning and so on.. if only a few percent of people can actually support themselves and live comfortable and happy lives after 70 .. there is no real point to live another 30 -70 years if your life sucks and you are dependent on some check from a government .. blah blah blah

life extension is only really important if someone increases the quality of their lives and the meaning each day gives ..

if you want to live the rest of your life hungry .. maybe but is it worth living and .. the quality of the food you eat matters .. so if you have a bad diet and you eat less of the terrible food ..your health will improve over time .. but if you have a diet of high quality food that is loaded with proper micro nutrients and enzymes .. you will naturally stop eating when you have enough .. so there is no benefit to eating less if you have a high quality diet .

poor quality food chemically flavored to taste like good food and chemically colored to look like good food ..and loaded with fat, sugar ,salt and cholesterol .. while lacking micro nutrients ,vitamins and enzymes are what needs to be taken out of the diet to improve health . not just to live longer ..

There are so many problems in this post that it probably doesn't even make sense to spend time pointing them out...

            ... perhaps just a few.

            1. "live the rest of your life hungry."
Hungry? Who said hungry? Just don't frickin overeat.

            2. "you will naturally stop eating when you have enough"
Do you even know how many different feedback mechanisms are in your body to signal your brain when you have enough? And how long will it take you to realize that you have enough after you actually had enough?

            3. " so there is no benefit to eating less if you have a high quality diet ."
So you have conducted a study on this matter or you pulled this crap out of your intestine? Sorry, I keep forgetting, science is not needed if you have intuition, imagination, clairvoyance, etc.

            4. What the hell is "high quality diet?" Must be some sort of scientific term, I guess.
Define your vision of high quality diet.

            5. The idea that you start with a healthy diet and apply the principle to it, is pretty much common sense and self-evident. So your straw man argument doesn't fly here. There's no sense in trying to improve on the junk food diet by eating less, or imply that the study concerned junk food. In that case you'll die from causes other than aging.

            6. "but is it worth living"
Is it worth living to live longer?
The silliest argument I've heard on this topic is -- but you only live once. Yeah, you only live once, so indeed why the hell would you want to extend your livespan? Eat garbage and eat a lot of it, because YOLO!

do you know that most people know that they are going to eat to much ..just looking at the amount of food on the plate and have trained themselves to finish eating before their body tells them to stop.. or just keep eating after their body tells them to stop .

so you are right just don't over eat .

and you quoted what i defined as poor quality .. so my bar for high quality is rather low.. just avoid eating food that only taste good because they are chemically flavored to look and taste good.. or artifically loaded with salt sugar and fat.. while having few nutrients vitamins and minerals ..

And you know this because of intuition or psychic abilities. A study please?
OR perhaps you are talking about the obvious. If you start at the age of 1..2 you can add 30 years (30% of 100 years) If you start at 50 you can add 15 years (30% of 50 years). That is OBVIOUS. What was your point besides this? You shouldn't even try?

Claude Thanks for putting the second part of that up..i watched the firt part a week ago and my youtube didn't have the link to the second ..

i watch a lot from jordan peterson when he is taking to other smart people and not so much when he is talking with reporters trying to play gotcha..

it is interesting how he breaks down the stories in the bible and the reasoning in many of them..and i believe it was weinstein i was watching on a joe rogan podcast where he explain that kosher rules and several waste management practices in the old testament .. are valid with modern understanding of pathogens and other toxic accumulation in food or with human waste ..

thats part of the reason i put in..if you focus on life extension you need to also greatly improve the quality of day to day life.. and how you will be productive or earn money through all those extra years ..

no point in living on a retirement plan that has you below the poverty line ..so we are talking about something that is not only for wealthy people..but very healthy wealthy people who can also afford life extension treatment.. high quality food .. state of the art medical treatment ..

who also don't have families dreaming of what to do with all the money they will inherit .when their rich relative finaly dies ..

Lol. Good point Ryan. For some (many?) People knowing they could die at any time is a good thing. Why? Because it means they'll spend their time wisely doing something that's worthwhile and important to them.

the people who actually live lives that are worthwhile and exciting and take care of themselves will be the ones who life extension will benefit ..or who will at least have youth extension ..so they stay healthy vibrant and active until the late 80's or 90's ..

there are factors those who live into their 90's and break a hundred ..share that can be studies\d and replicated ..

it is like people who build wealth over 20-30 years of working.. saving and investing..there are patterns someone can follow ..

and both can be followed at the same time

          Interesting: Thanks Odahh. : )

By the way if anyone is afraid of dying (like I used to be) I found this advice from Steve Pavlina helpful:

"Develop the inner strength to express your true self. And learn how to share your love with the World -- without holding back."

(I don't know if that's helpful however I thought I would post it just in case.)

          Cheers.

I'm not afraid of dying ..i'm jus not interested in taking the safest path to the grave and withering for the last 20 years of my life taking 20 different medication a day ..when i have the choice now .. to make choice to extend real health as long as possible and be in better health at 80 or 90 ..than i was at 35 ..

the them in my view on life extension.. is the the key is to have be in the best state of health and fulfillment you can get to as early in life as possible ..

              I take 12. I don't give it a second thought. It's called, "Better Living Through Chemistry." :-)

There's one special benefit. If you take them all at once with a cup of strong coffee, you get a great buzz that last for hours.

and i saw what my parents where taking because i was caring for them the last three yreas or more of their lives ..I will personally make all the changes i can now ..to avoif the health problems both of my parents had the last 10-15 years of their lives ..and they didn't have the bad eating habits until after they where 40 or 50 because there wasn't as much crap available until the 80's and 90's

I had two surgeries to cure that. Had my uvula removed and a turbinectomy. You want to deal with that as quickly as possible as it is a contributing factor to congestive heart failure and is suspected to greatly increase your chances for developing Alzheimer's and at an earlier age that most.

my father had it.. and my brother both have it.. i have not been diagnosed ..but with a 20 inch neck ..and the way i snore .. it is pretty much a given.. and if i want a long term relationship ..have a woman wake you up on a regular basis because you are snore to loud .. isn't good ..

my health was so out of place ..or such a mess three to 4 years ago.. that solveing and fixing one thing after the other.. i am left with the sleep apnea and diet .. the things i need to take care of in the next few years ..

i have not had to many days where i woke up more tired than going to sleep .. but i do have days that i wake up mentally tired or oxygen starved ..right now i am pretty sure my high blood pressure is from the sleep apnea ..and i have constant pain in my chest area..

Like I said, you should make this a number one priority. Most hospitals have sleep clinics where you can get tested. I think I went to Jefferson in Philly.

Every day you let this go untreated you are damaging your brain and your heart. It's easy to find excuses not to do things.

It involved you and Riffle's wife. It was really pretty funny. But I don't have the certain knowledge that it wouldn't cross the line with Riffle.

It's not so much that it crosses a line (that's virtually impossible to do with me), but it opens a door. And that door leads to a basement of no return. I try not to make a defenseless third the butt of the joke. They can be used as props to set up the punchline, but they should never be the punchline if they aren't present to respond in kind.

                    It's honor amongst assholes.

Besides, when someone opens that door, it's usually a sign of desperation and you have them on the ropes.

Precisely my view. An unwritten rule that is clearly understood. They can be part of the joke, but not the brunt of the joke.

And....I hate to say this..but others read the insult, misinterpret what was said, and now think that the spouse (or other loved ones) can be the brunt of jokes.

Anyway..I pretty much have forgotten the original joke. And when I hear it from someone else here, I'll think "What a brilliant insult. I wish I had thought of it".

I can't tell if that's an indirect insult to me...or a direct insult to me....

but when someone insinuates that I may be desperate, it's usually because I have them on the ropes.

I have to agree with your posting this. It's just another reminder that I'm the most important person here. I have a portrait of me above our fireplace. It's a portrait of me...looking at a smaller portrait of me...where I'm looking at a small sculpture of myself. I look at it nightly. It inspires me to be more like me.

I read daily out of a quote book that are only things I've said. . I learned it at Trump University. Graduating class of Thursday. My motto is "Me! Me! Me!".

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

My guess is that the smell you are smelling...follows you around all day.

(OK, for Dan I know I have to explain. I was talking about your smelly butt. Your butt smells. I mean it smells like poopie...from your butt. I hope this clears it up)

Dan; I enjoy insults. But what I enjoy far more is explaining the insult when I know it isn't necessary. That's the real fun for me. And I know that nobody thinks it's funny...and they think I'm really explaining the joke...that just kills me.

                                            (Obligatory opening for an insult)

I firmly believe that this is universally regarded as a very good idea, but people fear change, especially when they realize that someone else's performance will only illuminate their own shortcomings.

                                        I see this a lot.

Stunning anti-ageing breakthrough could see humans live to 150 and regenerate organs by 2020

Has anyone noticed that this is less than two years from now?

And someone...somewhere...thinks it's plausible that in a year and a half, we will be able to regenerate organs and live to 150.

And two years from now..when it's pointed out that it didn't happen...we will already have been through a dozen other nonsensical ideas....

                                    Nonsensical overload.

You do realize that we are currently growing organs from stem cells in labs. Skin (an organ) is being used extensively for burn victims. They are having some success with livers and, dare I say it, some of the early results in growing hearts is mind-boggling.

This is coming, much sooner than luddites like you might realize or be willing to acknowledge, but the goal is NOT to extend life to 150. It's to allow people to live out their 'normal' life expectancy, by replacing failed organs that would have resulted in premature death, something, by the way, that l wish for you on an ever increasing basis.

I was just thinking of the impact of being able to live 150 years. Our brains still age. Neurons don't reproduce, and our fluid intelligence greatly weakens as we age.

So, we may live longer..but not as productive people.

What would be the cost to keep us alive?

And this thought is painful to me, but as humans, we very seldom accept new ideas when we are old. Learning slows and then stops. We really have to die and be replaced by better educated people..for us to progress. Even our experience isn't enough to make us adaptable in old age.

When we say "Kids these days..." or "When I was a kid...", it isn't so much that people are different now...as that we are different when we age.

                                        Anyway, just a few ideas.

Total rubbish and again, only based on your scary introspection. I am young at heart and approach learning new things with all the gusto I can muster. there is a lot you no longer have to remember ..when you need to know just google it ..

we live in a world where a persons main memory bank is not in their head.. and eventually we will have a much faster interface with it than we do know ..

there will be real time monitoring of health ..the computers will monitor us and even the slightest deterioration will be detected and options for treatment ..early .. rather than discovering it years into the process

                                          Anyway, just a few ideas.
i fully understand your argument ..the critical element is how people stay productive .. not just alive but productive ..being productive in a way that is sustainable long term.. is the cornerstone for mental and physical health and longevity ..

we will not enslave youth to support healthy people over a certain age ...people wil have to bare the cost of keeping themselves alive ..after all i think it is still common for many men to wither up and die within a few years of retiring ..once they stop being productive they start dying at a faster and faster rate ..

when viewing this subject .. understand you actually have to make lifestyle choices to get any benefit from the potential of life extension.. if you are living a lifestyle that is damaging your health .. life extension will not help.. it will be suffering extension or slowing the decay at the end of your life ..

the same way people don't just accidentally build wealth .. unless they where born with parents who taught them how .. or learned it along the way .. they don't build wealth .. the same thing goes for life extension .. we have plenty of data from people who naturally live to old age and stay healthy and active.. and rapidly growing piles of data on the many different ways people can destroy their health ..

Here's a website that says that neurons cannot be replaced. So....

                                            https://www.lifecoderx.com/can-lost-...s-be-replaced/

And here's a (probable better source) article that says that neurons can reproduce but not quickly.
                                            https://www.health.harvard.edu/mind-...ew-brain-cells

Anyway, I listened to (I think) Sam Harris talking about neurons not growing well after birth, but our white brain matter (I think) can grow. So brain calls can reproduce in damaged brains, just not the neurons.

It appears that this idea is changing with new testing.

this is valid stuff to worry about or look at.. the brain finishes developing in the mid 20's for very good reasons .. people are basically fully grown physically by then ..

keeping the brain healthy is very important to living longer ..or just living better .. and i will go back to lifestyle choices and real time monitoring ..with advancing tech.. so if you go through an event that may have caused damage.. testing can be done almost immediately and treatment rather than.having the damage take place and either scar over or start a cycle o deterioration ..

10 or 20 years ago it was not that widely known about the long term effects of head trauma /concussion ..and by the time anyone looked to see if an even caused damage it was months or years later ..

now with what is going on in pro football and other sports ..people are being check hours after an event .. and it is not long before treatments are developed to help the brain heal without scarring or permanent damage or that can repair or help the body repair .

lots of money involved in figure this out ..yes now it is expensive ..and the expense may always be out of the range of non wealthy people .

so i'm a broken record on this.. that life extension and the full benefits..will most likely be exclusive to the wealthy and those who make the lifestyle choices that lead to long term health ...not the guy filling his belly with greasy pizza and fast food several times of week and drinking their liver to destruction..

as far as the cost of keeping people alive.. it will be the people themselves covering the cost ..and it is not to long before society refuses to pay for expensive medical treatments for people getting illnesses from bad lifestyles ..the system is going bankrupt as it is

My belief on this is longevity is going to be the result of lifestyle choices .. if you havn't won the genetic lottery that will get you to 100 and be healthy and active .. the same way a person is not born wealthy .. can build wealth with lifestyle choices ..

the first thin someone has to do .. is actually build wealth that gives them the ability to purchase the high quality more expensive fresher food.. and have access to the medical monitor to have very early detection and the best possible treatments or therapies ..

They are having some success with livers and, dare I say it, some of the early results in growing hearts is mind-boggling.

This is coming, much sooner than luddites like you might realize or be willing to acknowledge, but the goal is NOT to extend life to 150. It's to allow people to live out their 'normal' life expectancy, by replacing failed organs that would have resulted in premature death, something, by the way, that l wish for you on an ever increasing basis.
although i am a fan of better more environmental positive ways of raising animals.. one of the things that will rapidly drop the cost of these techs.. will be basically growing meat in labs high quality tasty meat that has good nutrient content ..it will by much better than concentrate animal feeding operations .. and the way many fish farms are ..

a larger and larger amount of food is being grown in indoor hydroponic facilities .. and coming out with high nutrient content ..certain meats will be grown in factories in a decade or two..and have high nutrient levels and much higher than industrial meats

with so many methods of growing food being developed so quality nutrient rich food can be produced nearly anywhere .. food will not be a problem in the future ..it isn't now ..now it is distribution ..

                                      Nonsensical overload.
my first response .. had in it that there where no 148 year olds living now who would live to be 150 in 2 years .. longevity is a potential .. just because you can live to 90 now ..as a potential for many people ..does not mean you will..and if you where 88 and this gave a person 2 more years ..

i treat it as a potential not a predetermined reality ..i can step into the street and get killed by a car .. or in the next few years have a jealous girlfriend threw me out a window because she thinks i'm cheating ..

death is one of those things that is guaranteed ..after heart disease cancer and neurodegenerative disease .. to get into car accidents and other sudden life ending events .. so the probability ..even if science and medicine and personal behavior can keep people alive and healthy indefinatly.. some other event will most likely kill a person..no matter how safe the world is ..

No, that comment was meant more as an aside as to another reason why "going there" is considered poor form.

Regarding your comment about other people running with it, that's part of what I meant by opening the door. It becomes a race to the bottom (which, correct me if I'm wrong, is what they call leap frog night at your house). The humor becomes more "how low can I go" and less "how clever can I be".

Of course, clever is in the eye of the beholder... Not every joke can be comedy gold. Whatty and Mark are examples of that...

                          Let's pick-up the pace.

Perhaps it will help if I pledge my modus operandi.

                          4. I will delete all posts from Ryan and Jonathan in a concerted effort to try to diminish the embarrassment they heap upon the forum on a daily basis and to attempt to resurrect the good name of the Warrior Forum across the Interwebs, although with the damage that has already been done, this will be a supreme challenge. (It's a joke, people!)

I have more, but let's be honest. That's plenty good - right, there! This should make me a shoe-in.

Ok, this is the one l should have originally posted, and they used hydrogen sulfide, which smells like rotten eggs.

  • Here's what I see comin' ...

Most anti-agein' stuff figures either chemicals, lifestyle or zero terminal DNAstuffs.

So I would wanna bust out on a BOOBIE WELLBEING DELIVERY BRA.

Fits like a regular fashion bra, mebbe padsya out if'n you need an extra flourish.

Anyways, bra is a POWERHOUSE CHEMICAL FACTORY tooned in to yr metabolism.

Sensor discovers hey, way too much salt gowin' on, & bra fixes the deal.

(An' guys, you don't gotta depend on no GIRLSY product to mock yr ass for havin' man boobs -- male version prolly got a sensor bypasses nipples altogether an' drops its science-packed forensic prowess deep down onya Urethra Franklin pipehole.)

Anythin' my beleagured, abused & misfirin' cells need is proactively rectified by the BENEVOLENT CHEMICALS squirted out by my sense-packed bra.

    I need endorphins?

    Got 'em!

    I need adrenaline?

Aw yeah -- feel it bustin' outta evry conduit!

    Demand sperm?

Yeah, yeah, for sure the little guys can swim around my assorted toobs for a while, they wanna!

Point is, my BOOBIE WELLBEING DELIVERY BRA gotmy evry biochemical need covered -- jus' like regular frickin' baps.

It also got plugins to suit mood -- chemical combo delivery to suit PARTY or CHILLOUT or SHOOTER IN THE MALL KILLS DOZENS.

Meantime, best anti-agein' potion we got is to be sweet on one another, max we can.

    Or possibly kittens.

As usual - no one asked and no one was wondering. You've posted about it so many times members are aware of your exalted status. Explaining 'mod permissions' is not appropriate.

You know it is an abuse of mod permissions to 'manage/edit' your own threads but you continue to 'warn' members and to delete posts you don't like or posts by members you don't like. You did it again in this thread.

Really. You are going to threaten to ban me for making a harmless joke and once again brag about your mod privileges? That is a poor reflection on the rest of the mod team.

First of all, we know that DNA is sort of like a shoelace. It has plastic tips at the end. Every time a cell reproduces, the tips get shorter and shorter and shorter until finally they fray. And you know that your shoelace, without the plastic tips will simply fall apart. That's what happens inside a cell. A cell, for example, your skin cell, will divide about 60 times, that's called a Hayflick Limit. Then the cell goes into senescence and eventually dies.
So in some sense, every cell has a biological clock. It is doomed to die after about 60 reproductions. However, Telomerase can eliminate some of the contraction of the chromosomes and the chromosomes can maintain their length. So at first you may say, "ah-ha! We can now defeat the biological clock."

    ...

For example, if I take any organism on the planet Earth from yeast cells to spiders, insects, rabbits, dogs, and even monkeys now. And I reduce their caloric intake by 30%, they live 30% longer. In fact the only organism which has not yet been deliberately tested by scientists are homo sapiens. All the other species obey this basic rule. You starve them to death, they live longer. This is independent of Telomerase. This is a function of the wear and tear that we have on the cells. And this is the only known way of actually deliberately extending the lifespan of any organisms almost at will.

Of course it's so much more appealing to hope that some magical pill will do the same.

No Claude, it doesn't work that way. In order to regenerate an organ you first need to have the organ. Check with your favorite Swedish doctor about getting an addadictomy.

  • Thing always to remember 'bout regeneratin' organs -- or any kinda swanky physiological level-up -- is how Jurassic Park backfired despite the dream.

That is why I figure alla these regenerated organs gotta be tested for safety.

Jus' to be sure we ain't pumpin' out duds or nuthin'.

An' I know Whatto been laughin' at Moi earlier in this thread for bein' a Vodka-drenched harpy (my words, not his ... cos he too busy battlin' killer spidahs in Oz to be genuinely offensive), but I got my innate Do Good By Hoomanity side also.

So if they ever get this regeneratin' organ scheme fully pumped up an' runnin', I would wanna look in on the production line as a trooly fired-up, hands-on TESTER.

Yeah yeah, drop them organs fronta Moi -- not liver or guts or nuthin' icky, but mebbe sumthin' meaty I can clamp my mitts on, go figure this a dud or mebbe sumone want summa this stuff dishin' the bangin' in their life?

tbh I figure this scheme got such merit I ain't merely payin' lip service here -- though if'n I gotta bend over backwards to be an enthoosiast for hi-tech smarts on a roll, prolly ima open to input on the deal.

Point is, all kindsa tech poses all kindsa challenges right now as we extend our remit beyond the stoopidly instinctive to the even stoopider brain-enhanced.

Aw, but yeah -- a non-stop conveyor packin' wibbly wobbly organs I can firm up as FIT FOR PURPOSE or DUD.

For sure that would engage my higher mind sure as whackin' me in the butt when I been naughty.

So reading over this anti-aging crap... I'm against it. We need more people dying, not living longer.

However, can we make my dog live to 100? I'd be okay with that. I'll miss him more than any of you anyhow.

True, but I want to choose.

My doggie will be 5 next month. It's sad to know I'll be going, first. That. said - I cried every single day for a year and a half when Baby passed, so I think this is better. :-(
