What are the best most legitimate websites in order to search for and adopt a puppy? Which websites should I avoid? What other tips and advice do you guys have?

    Why wouldn't you visit your local SPCA or animal rescue to see dogs that are available for adoption?

    If you have to ask where to find a dog to adopt...I'd wonder if you have any idea how to care for an animal once you have it.


    Avoid: pet shops - people SELLING dogs online

      No dogs at the moment. Most of our animals are not up for adoption. While we do provide a 'no-kill' sanctuary, we work closely with our local SPCA and allow them to handle most of the dogs that are able to be adopted. We do insist that if they are unable to find a home for any of our dogs, they are returned to us. So far, they have not had to return one.

      Many of our rescues have been severely abused and traumatized, so we place those ourselves, but these animals require special care and are not put up for adoption by the general public. We have experienced handlers that work at getting these animals into a state, both physically and mentally, where they can be safely adopted.

      Additionally, most people are not willing or able to deal with the extensive veterinary bills that can come by adopting some of our dogs, even after the vets provide reduced rates..

      We're currently rehoming a beautiful Pit Bull, named 'Charlie,' that is going to require about $4,000 in orthopedic reconstruction. We'll be doing a GoFundMe campaign for him.
