I should be good to go then - I've been eating cheese and butter all my life. Its good stuff - why wouldn't you eat it?

Oh yeah - the "this is bad for you" crowd. The fear mongers who have a different "warning" every few months of 'this is bad for you' only to be followed later with 'well, maybe it's not that bad for you' and then a year later they write "turns out that is GOOD for you".

I always think of the 'saccharin scare' of years ago. The news folks were shocked that "it can cause cancer" and it the products were literally removed from the shelves.

I was working in a chemistry lab at the time and saw the study - which said if one mouse consumed the equivalent of 400 bottles of soda sweetened with saccharin - per day - for 15+ years....that little mousie had an increased chance of cancer.

No one explained how one mouse could drink that much....

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

i worked in a food processing plant and ran a spray dryer ....where we proceed a lot of nutrasweet and occasional did saccharin ..working with the raw enzymes has it's risks .. and i hatted processing saccharin it was just nasty to work with ..and the raw saccharin was considered hazardous waste ..

from what i have read and heard much of the anti saccharin or anti nutrasweet stuff .. was from nutrasweet anti saccharin propaganda then saccharin anti nutrasweet propaganda ..as they where fighting for their shares of the artificial sweetener market

so much of the this is bad for you or this is healthy for.you mems.. is pure marketing from industries ..promoting their products against other products

I did a thread on this. Eating Meat and fatty foods (free of the additives that humans put in) is actually good for you. Carbohydrates, excess salt etc, are the killers.

The low fat diet is a fallacy, the scientist who suggested it did a flawed study and it somehow got adopted. The Atkins diet is actually correct.

An eleven year study under McCarthy was done on this. not a single shred of evidence supported that a low fat diet was good for you.

Yet, somehow..the adoption of the idea persists.

    I think of my Grandmothers.

They both ate eggs and bacon, toast with real butter and coffee every morning. I never heard either speak about "diet."

They both enjoyed good health into their eighties.

My mom's going to be 90.

All of the above, Italian cakes and pastries, lots of pork and beef with gravy, coleslaw - potato and macaroni salads with gobs of Hellman's mayo, Italian sausage and deli meats, cheeses out the wazoo, spumoni and tortoni - and of course mass quantiles of pizza. She's in better shape than I am.

She says her secret is sautéed sweet peppers, onions, mushrooms and garlic - soft and a big salad after every meal. Yep - salad as a last course is very common in Italian households. A habit I've never broken.

      Cheers.

No. that's soft and hot and the salads are crisp and cold.

I just had some sautéed veal liver with bacon, smothered in sautéed onions, Yukon gold mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy and baby Le Sueur peas. Man, was that ever good. No room for salad, though. lol

    • Yeah that's true but today it's more about how processed or industrialized this food is today vs back in the days. I also have grandparents that lived way past their 80's and the concept of "correct nutrition" never crossed their mind.

This food industrialization is causing the world to correct their eating habits.

Pure butter is always good for health. Many parts of the world make it as an essential ingredient for nutrition.
Now-a-days pure butter is a rare thing. The food industry is mixing things and hardly you can get the required nutrition from butter or cheese, that is the reason diet plans now exclude butter
