I've never seen Casablanca or Gone With The Wind. I'm waiting for Casablanca to be on Turner Classic Movies but haven't been able to catch it from the beginning. I really don't have much interest in seeing Gone With The Wind, not sure why.

Seen Casablanca, and pretty good movie all up, Gone with the wind, never seen it all the way through, since the first 2 hours are pretty dull, and l was a kid for the most part.

Which was a pity since in the last hour they are, (hopefully in a battle) so yeah, almost 50 years umming about that one, l will probably bite the bullet and watch that one?

Well, maybe next year, lol, Die Hard is a must watch at Xmas time, especially this year.

The original 12 Angry Men, To Kill A Mockingbird, anything with Daniel Day Lewis in the lead.

These are movies that hold up to repeated viewings. In my opinion.

I don't think I've ever seen Gone With The Wind or Citizen Kane.

I've tried watching Citizen Kane a couple of times but could never get past the first 20 minutes or so.

CK is rather dated now, but in its time it was considered the gold standard for film making. While the story and dialogue are excellent, the movie was a virtual film school for aspiring novie makers for decades to come.

That said, it's certainly not everyone's cup of tea.

They were all good the first time. I don't do reruns, although when I was younger I did see West Side Story and South Pacific, over a dozen times, each. The Prologue to West Side Story, for me, might be the most transfixing six and a half minutes in my movie going history.

And, it was the day I fell in love with Rita Moreno (no one should be that beautiful, sexy and talented at the same time), Natalie Wood and the American musical.

I was quite impressionable at 13. lol

I don't think I've ever seen Gone With The Wind or Citizen Kane.
Both great. Orson Welles was a truly phenomenal actor. This movie is every bit as good as most critics say. Truly an American cinematic masterpiece.

"America from "West Side Story." Leonard Bernstein - another musical genius.

The remake of "Titanic." The original was a great movie, but I no longer choose to watch anything where people suffer or die horribly.

I still refuse to watch Cameron's Titanic.

I've also never seen Scarface. I was too young when it came out and just never got around to watching it.

Nothing but a violent movie with a lot of coke being snorted. Thought it sucked so you are not missing anything.

Gone with the Wind I won't watch it, It looks boring as hell.

I have watched Citizen Kane a few times. Since Kurt has never sat through the whole thing I won't mention who Rose Bud is.

Never watch the full movie Saving Private Ryan. Watch the first several minutes and turned it off.

I have never seen any of the movies listed because they were on T.V. when I was a kid and we did not own a T.V. Believe it or not, I am not a kid theses days though my wife would argue.

We have a T.V. and a T.V. room and I still cannot watch those movies. Because from sun up to sundown I can't catch my wife - she is younger than my old arse. Man has to have priorities even if it is just wishful thinking.

Quite frankly my dear, I don't give a damn about not having seen Gone With The Wind - for much the same reason I'm happy never to have sat through The Sound of Music, Dr Zhivago, A Room With a View, The English Patient or any movie based on a Jane Austen novel.

I saw the original in 1977, (well l missed the first few minutes) but saw it another 7 times.

And probably a good 30 odd times after that on tv.

A great story and movie, even by todays standards, but the last few installments, total rubbish.

See Star Wars, and the next two, then the latest Death Star one, (that was actually done well, and fits well into the first).

The prequel, sequels are total rubbish, Solo, phew, does fill in some of the gray areas, but it is probably a toss a coin one.

    The Sound Of Music
    West Side Story
A Streetcar Named Desire (despite having it on dvd). I watched the docos on the bonus disc and they inspired me to not watch the actual movie.
    The English Patient
    Out Of Africa
    The Big Chill
    Kramer v Kramer
    Rain Man
    Top Gun
    Jerry Maguire
Every Star Wars movie after The Empire Strikes Back
    Mary Poppins
    Most Disney films
Every "rom-com" with the exception of When Harry Met Sally, which is one of my favourite movies.
Most films on sport as they tend to be cliche ridden crap.
Most "super hero" movies because I'm no longer 15 years of age.
    100's more.

Citizen Kane is a film you either get or you don't, there really isn't any middle ground. I rank it within my top 10 movies ever.

Gone With The Wind would be a brilliant film if they got rid of that Scarlett character which would make it a war movie. The stand out scene in the movie for me is where Clark Gable's character slaps Scarlett (Vivien Leigh). I wanted to do that to her throughout the whole movie.

Casablanca is a movie of its time, I like it but I can see why it might not appeal to modern audiences.

Other movies you either get or you don't include everything by Stanley Kubrick, especially Dr Strangelove, 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange. They're more for people who see movies as being art rather than entertainment.

Up until this year I'd never seen the original Halloween (1978), or Blade Runner (1982). I thoroughly regret not being able to add them to the list. Both of them are absolute rubbish.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

I think Super Heroes are an American thing. I often wonder if I would enjoy them at all, if it wasn't for the fact that I was a big fan as a kid. But I liked the first 3 Star Wars movies...and they are essentially the same thing to me.

I don't like rom coms or musicals. And I'm gay, so you'd think I would.

As punishment, my wife sometimes watches the Hallmark Channel.....where nobody has gone to the bathroom for 100 years.

I never watched A Streetcar Named Desire because I have an aversion to people yelling. In fact, nearly every TV series is unwatchable to me, because the adult characters are acting like emoting 14 year olds. Everyone is either screaming, crying, or both.

Super Heroes are our mythology. Whatty is Australian. The extent of Australian mythology is Ned Kelly and Crocodile Dundee. I guarantee Whatty has seen every movie related to those two.

You could argue that Steve Irwin is worthy of inclusion in the list of Australian mythology, but you'd be wrong. He's derivative.

Wrong. I've seen the first CrocDun movie, but nothing else.

Plus having been born in England my cultural heritage is more aligned to Robin Hood and Boudica than Ned Kelly (an Irishman).

Kelly is to Australia what Jessie James or Al Capone are to America, ie a murdering thug. Personally, I'm appalled by the romanticisation of Kelly by some Australians.

I appreciate that, and knew it was a playful dig.

The really weird thing about me (yeah, yeah, I know there's way more than one weird thing about me), is that I don't really consider myself to be either English or Australian. I'm a West Australian who was born in Yorkshire, or a Yorkshireman who was raised in Western Australia.

I believe "mate" is a Cockney term, as well; delivered to Australia in its penal (stop giggling, Claude) colony days.

Regardless, I dub thee officially Australian. Your attraction to kangaroos is no longer considered a fetish, but a cultural norm.

Mate is pretty universal. It's used by Cockneys, Yorkies, Geordies, Scousers, Brummies, Taffies, Jocks, Paddys and everyone else in the UK.

Another favourite of Cockneys is to call someone whose name you don't know, John. It's based on John being a very common first name, you might just get it right. The same logic applies if you encounter a garden gnome with two black eyes, calling him "Dan" is a pretty safe bet. If you meet a chubby, bald vacuum cleaner salesman dressed in women's clothing, calling him "Claude" will be right more often than not as well.

This happens to me every once in a while..

A woman comes into the store, buys something and then I run the credit card...and realize that I "dated" her 30 or 40 years ago. I never mention it, for a variety of reasons.

They throw up on my counter, and I say "Try our new Vomit-o-matic vacuum and scrubber. Just the thing to pick up vomit and stains from counters. Regularly priced at $249...on sale for the next ten minutes for $499".

My new ad says "You'll come in for the vomit, but you'll buy because of our artificially inflated prices".

True, Claude was the only person who developed 80mm, with Smellavision.

The movie was projected through 4 giant projectors, so you had to keep looking behind you, and the smell part, a moldy donut and banana under the seats covered most screenings.

Did you guys see the Secret Agent Movies with Dean Martin as Matt Helm?

I also liked In like Flint and Our Man Flint

But the Matt Helm movies were too cool. There was one scene that was the freaking coolest.

When he wakes up and the big Round Bed elevated while he and his honey was naked under a sheet then it gently slides you into a bubble bath where she hands him a big soap and he opens it up and its a miniature Liquor bottle inside and he downs it and after they bathe there are electronic body buffers they stand next to...not even 007 could touch that!

Not sure if that was The Silencers.

Deep Throat contains what is perhaps the only witty line ever uttered in an "adult film".

The director plays a cameo as a gay man where he walks in on a man and a woman who are, erm, well, you know. He looks at them and in an incredibly camp voice says, "What's a nice joint like you doing in a girl like this".

So I've been told. By Dan Riffle. Dan Riffle is my mate.

I had to add the last sentence because when Riffle is murdered next Wednesday at half past nine in the morning, suspicion will immediately fall on Claude. Since he's already covered his tracks - see above - the next likely suspect will be me.

I just want to take this opportunity to state that all those times I punched Riffle in the face, it was done with love and the utmost respect.

I also didn't collude with Claude, and have not instructed my lawyer to pay hush money to Stormy Daniels. On top of that, I don't even know where Russia is.

There, that should throw investigators off the scent.

Remember, there was NO COLLUSION And even if there was collusion, it isn't against the law. And if it is against the law, my lawyer did it. And if there is video of me colluding, it was edited. And if someone saw me colluding live...it wasn't me. And even if it was me....it was a dream.

I never watched Blackula all the way through.

I have never watched Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo , or the original Electric Boogaloo.

I have not seen any of the Twilight movies.

Pretty much, and of the teenage dance, horror, or romance movies..I haven't seen.

But superhero movies.....targeting an audience of kids? Sure.

Well, l have made my new years resolution, and have started watching Gone With the Wind.

True the opening credits, were pretty dull, and Scarlet likes to play the field, and the blacks resemble stereotypes and then some, but it appears to have a good story.

And yeah, the men were apparently bored, s****less, so they rant around like a kid on Xmas day, when news of a war was brewing.

Watched 33 minutes, about 3 hours to go.

When l watched this as a kid l got so bored that l stopped watching, and now it is a lot better than l realized, (probably explains the mountain of academy awards it got).

Arrrgh, you have spoilt the ending, l will never forgive you, never, never, (Damn Scarlet).

About 2.53 in, or up to the point where she eats a rotten potato, and swears that she will never go hungry, or allow the movie to slow down too much during the last half.

Almost a 4 frickin hour long movie, no wonder they had an intermission, certainly puts 3 hour movies to shame, although at the end of those the ending is the least thing on your mind.

At this point in time the men are dropping like flies and Scarlet is marrying anything available so she can avoid the bad potato situation again.

At least she said, "Damn, Yankees", puts the Warner Bros cartoons in perspective.

About an hour to go and my mythic destiny will be forfilled, either that or it used up the time, while l get over this $$%%^ flu?

He also fell off the horse, while trying to catch up with the guy offering to buy the house, and died.

Which probably explains the 40 odd year gap, before the name was used again.

I would say the way Scarlet is going, with shooting and burying Yankee carpet-baggars, and such, she will give Betty Davis a run for her money by the time l get to the end soon.

Just finished watching Gone With the Wind, yay. And Kurt really did post the ending, although l remember seeing that before, lol.

What did l learn don't ride a horse and jump s***t, it tends to end horribly.

Don't eat a potato out of the ground.

And don't shoot an evil Yankee, too much of a hassle cleaning up the mess.

Hope everyone had a good transition, mine ended on a s***t note, but hopefully temporary.

I had been meaning to watch The Seventh Seal for about 9 months now, so I finally watched it last week after buying it on Bluray:

But l have to admit that l have never seen Frosted, or the Disney movie with musical songs every 10 seconds, which is probably for the best.

But l would think that l would need to be tied down for Frosted.

Yep, we have a similar channel here, where they crap on about something forever, and yeah, every man in the demonstrating some new ring with fake diamonds is gay. If you are in a slit your whrists frame of mind that or the cooking channels are perfect.

I never watched A Streetcar Named Desire because I have an aversion to people yelling. In fact, nearly every TV series is unwatchable to me, because the adult characters are acting like emoting 14 year olds. Everyone is either screaming, crying, or both.
True, and why l hear you ask, barbecue they are bored sh***less!

It is like watching a chick flick, (with a pretty dull premise) and they have to work hard so their audience doesn't nod off.

Either that or it centres around dull conversations at dinner tables which usually ends up as conversations about sex, or acts about sex, (if the classification is high enough).

TV is a sea of mindless, dribble with the occasional disaster on the news to break the monotony.

Thank goodness for DVD box sets, and The Twilight Zone.

      WHAT, Sfffft!

That was the movie that almost launched Claude, (Claudette's) movie career, and it was shown across the US in its day, (well three states that allowed it, since they didn't get reelected) and then was available in ALL seedy video library's bottom shelf, under the Golden Girls and Brady Bunch reruns!

I saw it once, and still have the doctors certificate to prove it.

They may also release it on IMAX, and digitally remaster some of the scenes that were blue-screened, (about 90%) in order to heighten trauma to the central nervous system and digestive tract.

      Corrected for accuracy.

Yeah, l doubt that l will pay money to see Squid Man, (or whatever it is called) since the storyline and acting is sure to put me to sleep.

Deadpool probably, and Ant Man probably, Spidie, at gunpoint, the rest including Infinity War part 2, only if l can fast forward it.

The fight scenes are choreographed ma******on, but that is just my observation, (well, me and a good percentage of rotten tomatoes members).

Too be fair, "Squid Man" is a DC property.

    The Godfather.
Actually I only saw about 10 minutes of it. The scene with the horse's head in the bed and I laughed because I'd always only seen parodies of it.

Watch the start with the volume up, brilliant, the rest, yeah, don't bother.

Titanic 2, will be sailing soon, but they are going to have a hell of a time lining up the iceberg again.

I've never watched any films in the past 19 years so I expect I've not seen many well known ones. I only watch films from the 80's and before then. Getting rid of my tv was the best thing I ever did.

Least you have seen Star Wars and Back to The Future, but these days my tv collects cobwebs, and is a reminder of the days when we had 5 stations to choose from, and some decent entertainment instead of wall to wall s***t.
