Anybody can tell me if the Cannabis Cooking niche can be profitable?

Hi guys,

Since I'm a medical patient and know a sh*t load about this topic, I was wondering if the cannabis cooking niche is real and profitable?

I don't mind showing my face and stuff, I already own a local service business so I don't really care about a "boss" judging me; if actual customers find out and don't like it, I could care less

I seem to be able to find hundreds of blogs, videos and guides on making edibles but was wondering what you guys thought...

    Do you know more about the topic than the other 2+ million 'medical' users? Do you happen to live in California (just kidding there - look at the graph on the site below)

    If you are a competent chef and can provide good recipes that are perhaps targeted to certain markets (diabetics, diet, low suger etc) might be a niche to pursue. My guess is before long there will be more restrictions on selling 'food products' laced with marijuana due to problems with over ingestion or children eating them. Just a guess.


    Good place to research is on Amazon books - quite a few cannabis cookbooks showing up there....

      I don't necessarily know more about the topic than others (currently) but I definitely am passionate about it, which in turn can get me to that point

      I am not based in California but I am based in Canada where it just became legal country-wise

      I also have knowledge in the fitness industry but I find there's too much competition...

      I already know a lot about dieting (counting macronutrients) so your idea of being a canna-chef in a specific market sounds very interesting to me !

    i have a non answer answer ..do you know what people actually spend money on in this niche ..

    so how are people making money in this niche .. and can you do those things ..and do you know what you can and can do with the current changing rules regulations and laws ..

    so business wise what can you do under the current set of laws federal and state .. to make money from this niche .and not end up having the DEA knock at your door .. or knock down your door .

      In Canada there is no law against showing people how to do stuff with Cannabis, as long as there's no "raw product" sales I can't get into any kind of shit

      I could sell cooking products that are required to make the recipes, extractors, etc and I'd know how to market them since I've got experience

    Could be an advantage to be in early....


    My view is you need a 'hook' - a focus that is more narrow than simply 'how to cook with cannabis'. Recipes using cannabis and focused on a 'special diet' could end up being a series of books in Kindle, for example.

      Yes I agree,

      The early part is what makes it so attractive to me, it's much easier to get to dominate an upcoming market than an already established one

      For it to be working I would have to "solve a problem"; personally I am using edibles for chronic pain/inflammation as that's what work best. Do you think that could be the micro-niche?

      My only worry is that there might be a lack of motivation to do anything in that niche, from the fact that... you know... stoners are stoners ! lol

      I'm an exception to the "stoners are lazy" stereotype but I can clearly see where that comes from

        I know a lot of people who smoke weed and are not lazy .. I personally don't smoke weed .and if you personally ditch the negative bias of the lazy stoner ..and market it the the people who smoke weed and are not 22 and under ..

        people who work hard .. take care of their responsibilities and smoke weed or consume edibles .

          That makes a lot of sense, too young to prioritize; I was there at some point so I used to relate to the stereotype, that may be why.

          Do you think that targeting people over 30 would be even better?

          I already have a list of customers who had help from me for lower back pain; they're all 30+ (mainly 40-60)

            start with people like you ..heck even bring up how much of an issue people made it that Elon musk smoked a blunt on the joe rogan podcast a few months back ..what a big stoner that guy is eh ..haha

            really can only give ideas nothing solid ..

    I think it's an industry that's just getting started. In legal states, there's a lot of branded food items for sale at weed shops. Legal weed as an industry is doing billions of dollars in business, and the food stuff is just a part of it. As more and more states legalize, that industry is only going to grow. I think at some point, edibles may even outsell flower and other products that need to be inhaled because there's a huge swath of the population that doesn't want to smoke/inhale anything but still want to get high.

    Build your own blog and do it your own way. Dont worry about the other blogs out there. Give advice for free. Review products (not necessarily the weed), provide honest feedback. You can sell a ton of related products as an affiliate. You will become valuable, build a loyal audience.

    Considering you post is in the off topic section. Very few people here take posts like yours serious. Several posts people gave there opinion. Take a look at the thread again and see if any posts help you. It looks like the niche could make a profit, if you find the right angle. You will need to find buyers in that niche.

    You may waste valuable time but you will never know either way if you could make a profit or not unless you give it a try. More than half the people on this forum will never try selling anything. Just my .02
