Internet Marketing On TV?

It seems rather strange to me that I haven't seen many if any tv shows be it reality shows or Netflix documentaries about the world of Internet Marketing? Seriously, if people can watch people flip houses and sell high end real-estate than why not flipping websites or selling high ticket digital products? I would rather watch 30 minutes of that instead but the closest I've seen on Netflix is documentaries around gurus such as Tony Robins, "I'm Not Your Guru" in the life coaching and personal development niche and, "The Secret". Mindset is important but anything about Internet Marketing and Making Money Online seems to be talked about in a negative context instead of an empowering way in the media. Am I just overlooking the type of show I'm seeking or does it not exist?

Oh, wait I suppose the movies, "The Founder" and "The Wolf Of Wall Street" would be close. Internet Marketing can be very interesting between the struggle, balancing family life and relationships, and finding success.

I'd like to see a show that talks about the stress leading up to a digital product launch, the time away from family and friends, the investment into advertising, and the results as it goes live. The behind the scenes look at it all while kids play, a family pet barks or meows in the background while doing a live broadcast or webinar, and the true test of a supportive partner through out it all.

Valley of the Boom on National Geographic is a good miniseries if you want 'digital movie'.

IN my opinion, marketers sometimes believe what they do is far more interesting to others than it is.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

I would dig the idea thought for an IM series. Could be intriguing because you see our challenges, dreams manifest, ups-downs, family life, all that good stuff.

Given the high cost of production, I doubt they'd invest so much money into a niche that has pretty close to zero interest to a broad market.

Even if it manages to attract a million viewers worldwide, that's still less than 1% of its subscriber base.

      Kay summed it up perfectly:

There used to be a Tech Channel on Direct TV. It had several good computer knowhow and tech programs. Then it degraded into programs about gaming and died a death.

I am amazed that there are no channels that are at least devoted to computers, software and tech in general (other than CNet) A program about getting the best out of photoshop or making videos using a camera and computer would be interesting, plus reviews of all the latest stuff.

Perhaps You Tube has all people want and these instructional course sites like Udemy are taking the lead on this now but there was a great swath of time where we had nothing.

well there is a reason the only long running show based around world travel.. where Anthony Bordain eating travel.. and andrew zimmermins bizarre foods ..

there might be some travel channel stuff.. but the best i see when i watch that is guys narrating camera views of the locations around the world and not really in them ..

and is watching someone work on a computer ...all that interesting to anyone ..generally the only shows you see about work on tv are people doing what is classified as hard dirty or dangerous ..

The public at large (and most of the broadcast media) don't really believe there's a digital product industry - at least not the kind that most internet marketers discuss - so there's not much for them to identify with.

But as self-publishing becomes more mainstream, I could see a documentary or series about a prospective author launching a self-published book online being of potential interest. I'm a little surprised Amazon hasn't already commisioned one for its Prime network.

Im sorry.. but are you guys really that out of touch? The INTERNET has broken the hold that TV has on content. YouTube is FILLED with "Digital Nomad" creators. The blogging world I guess Is filled with the same. Have you searched: " digital nomad podcasts " lately?

The reason these types of things are not on TV.. is because there is better product on the internet.. and all over the internet, and TV simply can not compete

The reason there isn't a show like that is because the number of people that would watch, is way too small.

Unless you are an internet marketer...you wouldn't watch.

We watch people flipping houses...because we all live in a house, have had renovations done, and have sold a house (or will eventually). It's almost a universal audience.

I want to know why there isn't a show about vacuum cleaner salespeople. I would find it fascinating. Me...and 7 other people.

Found this a 6 part, English, (groan) series about the history of the vacuum, (and Cluade does use the tissue, cone concept, but tends to use the kitty litter tray).

Ok, but you wanted Saleman selling them, here you go.

Go 14 minutes in for the Vacuum training and well....

I've thought about this a bit before. I think the fundamental problem is we are mostly on computers all day (no matter how great or interesting the work is) and usually alone. Not great television....

Hi this is a good point and the only thing that holds me back from having my own business is the amount of time is consumes. Maybe its still better to work for yourself than someone else though. I am still deciding on that as I am new to work so will see how it goes. xx
