Greetings Folks,

Just wanted to stop by and say hello and relieve you of your withdraw(al) symptoms from having to face each new day without my bon mots of intelligence and sardonic wit.

All is well with the world. My health is status quo, my spirit is as indomitable as ever and my projects are moving along at a satisfactory pace, although they have expanded in scope and become somewhat more challenging in complexity.

I have been forced to hire some PHP coders through Upwork, for thingamabobs and doodads that I want to implement. The first series of them have been completed, installed and tested - and appearing to be working fine. Since the remaining scripts are simple variations on the original submissions, I'm hoping for continued progress and reduced costs, going forward. In spite of the horror stories and many warnings that I received, I am quite satisfied with their work product and pricing. They even keep US hours in spite of the fact the they are based in India. That has made things much easier.

It appears that I gave myself way more lead time than was required, as I planned for everything to go badly, since most of what I'm doing, except for the radio station is a bit outside my areas of expertise. Things have really gone well and I have been lucky enough to find really talented people to help me with techie stuff. See what leading a good life gets you. Let this be a lesson to you. Always be kind, gentle and well-mannered in dealing with others and you will reap your reward, later in life. :-)

I took a quick peek at a few of the forums and see that things haven't changed - at all. I have nothing further to say on that subject. lol

I hope that you are all doing well and are fulfilled by what you are doing and achieving the success you desire. If not, just remember that regardless of what you constantly read, here - it's perfectly fine to reevaluate what you are doing and to consider choosing your new path. The people who tell you that, "Quitters never win and winners never quit," are generally people that have become comfortable being immersed in their current level of failure and are devoid of the courage required to start something, anew. Don't be one of those people. Nor should you let yourself be judged by them. There is no glory in fighting a losing battle until it destroys you. Life is short and it shouldn't matter if you spend most of it trying different things until you find something that truly makes you happy, which will improve your chances for financial success - if that is what you seek, above all. Don't be a loser. There's a million things out there. Devoting your life to failure is beyond tragic. It's just plain stupid!!!

Oh - and be sure to leave the things that you are passionate about for your personal life. Trying to turn them into a business rarely works and when you fail at turning something you are passionate about into a successful business, generally, you will lose that passion, along with everything else.

Your passion should be something that you escape to, when the pressures of family and work and just plain survival become too much to bear. Reveling in your passion allows you to clear your mind, gain new perspectives that might have been blocking your advancement and when you return to your workaday projects you will feel refreshed, invigorated and ready to recommit to your projects, knowing that when things get tough, the thing that you are passionate about will always be there as a oasis in your life. If you are lucky enough to truly have found something in your life that you are very passionate about, I would just ask that you consider this point of view. Losing it would be such a shame.

Are there exceptions to this? Certainly. Can someone turn their passion into their dream job? Of course. There are exceptions to everything in life, but what you have to decide is, are you and your experience going to be that exception? Is it worth losing? Once you reach that decision, then time will tell.

So - I didn't want to to be preaching, as much as I'd to have you consider what I'm presenting - as, 'sharing.' If I'm going to pay a visit, I'm thinking maybe I can impart something to think about to someone who may be getting ready to head off in that direction. This is a very serious topic for me, because I seen many people in my life come to regret taking this step and honestly, I can't point to one that has made it work. And they regret it. Deeply! That's the truth.

So, soon the warm weather will be arriving. Looking forward to get my projects wrapped-up in time so I can spend the the summer months cruising the Jersey shore in the old Bimmer with the top down and my radio station streaming. lol Man, I do love that, so. Haven't driven that car in almost 4 months and I AM READY!!!

You kids be good. I'll check back in a month or so, "if the good lord's a willin' and if the creek don't rise."

Try not to miss me too much. :-)

Cheers,

Optie

I can so identify - though in my case I'll be riding a new Tennessee Walker named "Duke'. No radio but out in the woods on the trails a lot of birdsong and the wind through the trees is my kind of music.

Seems like a lot of effort to setup a Lemonade Stall in front of your house. Perhaps switch to Apple Juice. :-)

Not sure that he should sell apples, Steve Jobs's last words: 'Oh wow. Oh wow. Oh wow' might be offputting.

Or an obvious genius that changed the planet for the better and came up with one clever idea after another, becoming paranoid, delusional in the last few seconds of his life, pffft.

      Unless he really saw something!

All was going well with this post until this:

This is the most un-Optie like comment I've ever read. It's a long way from his usual "Eat shyt and die you bustards" to the above.

I suspect his account has been hacked by someone who is trying to misrepresent Optie as been a warm-hearted, compassionate soul who cares about other people.

Boy, is he ever going to be pyssed off when he returns and finds out someone has tried to shatter his carefully built up reputation as a cantankerous curmudgeon. It ain't gonna be pretty, that's for sure.
