I will prefer dogs

Sounds like a good trade.

Cats for only one reason, I don't have to walk them every day. But as far as loving them, it's about the same.

I have always had dogs and cats (and, yes, that's plural)...
Don't know how people live without animals around them. They are everything from a sounding board to a foot warmer.

Robot dog, l thought sure this will be a non event, but it is pretty good.

And your child learns about dead or at least drunkeness whenever the power goes out!

No real cat equivelants, but this gets close.


I like the cats circling around, before they tear it to shreads, (well, l can hope).

We have a large scratching post and 2 Turboscratchers....and the furniture is fine...except we do have to vacuum more than most (I know you like that).


I wouldn't date someone who didn't want animals in the house - let alone marry them....

4 dogs and a cat that thinks she is a dog here. All girls. My weiner dog has recently gone deaf. She is old - probably 10 or so - but it came on kind of sudden. I need to take her to see the doc to see if it's old age or something else.

Even though we get irritated with them at times when they do something wrong - just like kids - they are family and I can't imagine being without them.

Our cats are like that - but my d-in-law is an early riser so she handles the morning feed.


Gracie is the only dog I've ever had who is never in a hurry to get up in the morning. She has a memory foam bed with her fave red plush blanket on it. She will sleep in as late as I will - she will doze after I get up while I putter and shower and dress....every dog before Gracie was alert and active the moment I opened my eyes in the morning. She's like 'let me know when I need to move'...

I don't have either yet. I grew up with dogs and loved them all. We had a beagle and a German Shepherd. I think the dog would be higher maintenance, but much more affectionate than a cat. I could be wrong. I'd be happy with either. Sadly, my wife is allergic.

We talkin' they sleep so sweet at your feet on the rug your granma weaved husself, they could almost be hooman as your besties & fam?

Dogs see you as 'family' - cats think you are 'staff'

Dogs, even if they always occupy my bed and set aside their own pet bed.
They are easy to train and is much more friendly than snooty cats.

Grew up with a Dog and later in life inherited 3 cats. Put 2 down sadly and had the 3rd one by itself for years. It was a Persian Calico and it was such a gentle cat that enjoyed sitting on my lap getting pets. You can google images to see what they look like.

Miss both the dog and cat, but I would replace the cat first because it was very low maintenance. Never needed to be walked, put out the food and fresh water and it was set. You could leave for a day or two and it would be fine. I still miss the cat several years later.
I would not consider a dog because it would lack the attention it would deserve.

I currently have a Conure (small parrot) one of four, that we got when the cats were alive. (cats were declawed, in case you were wondering) It has a great personality that is very entertaining. Every morning when I get up it sings, and waits for it's daily treats.

If anyone is looking into a charity or getting a dog or cat, look up tazewell county animal shelter, That rescues & relocates missed treated dogs and other animals, from the Appalachian area to be adopted and moved to a new owners home. A lot have been adopted and moved into the New England area.

Yeah, easier to maintain. And the demand of foods is less than a dog. But dog can serve yourself from attack.

Surprised at how many responded with 'cats - because they are less work'. I've never worried about work when it comes to pets - I enjoy them.


Except perhaps this week when family is out of town and I have to get up early to feed the cats because my d-in-law usually feeds them the 'good' canned food at 5:30 AM. Nothing like waking up with a cat's face 4 inches from yours as he meows his explanation of why he needs food NOW.


The dogs sleep in till I wake - the cats have a SCHEDULE and won't let me forget it.

Dogs for my family we are deathly allergic to Cat Dander. We have always had pet dogs in my family not only are they loving and caring they are guardians, friends and awesome companions.

Dogs can be intelligent and understanding its a two way relationship
while cats can be cute but not that smart only care for their needs like food, bath
but when iam angry as soon as i cuddle the cat it fades away! Dogs can be reasonable sometimes but a cat will hunt you of you are small like 6inch.

Lovely Cats are my most loved pet creature since I don't need to walk them consistently. In any case, the extent that cherishing them, it's about the equivalent.

Dog for sure. I just feel happier around dogs haha. And I feel like I can build a better understanding with dogs.

Cats love to play. They are quite acrobatic too -- especially when you take out a toy fishing pole or a cat dancer toy. They will leap, run, and pounce on the toy, which is great fun to watch. I love my Murphy.

After having both dogs and cats I think it comes down to what you're looking for in a relationship with your animal. If you love the idea of having an animal there, but not much interaction with you then go cat. They're very self-sufficient. If you want an animal that is more engaging, can take outdoors with you but requires more work I would go dog.

I have a dog (a 4 y/o Jack Russell Terrier), sheds like crazy, is always crazy, and is friendly to friends and strangers. Would bark at any cat he sees, feels, or hears.

In my family lives a cat, her name is Chip. She is affectionate and playful. She is not purebred, we found her when we walked in the park.

I have a labrador named Jerry. Great dog, he is still very young, but very smart.

The best thing about cats is that taco cat spelled backwards is taco cat.

Cats are something soft fluffy and warm but theres no getting away from them if they want something they keep on miaowing forever.

Dogs, depending which breed they are, they have their specific personality.

Please do some researches before buying a dog to make sure that it suit your lifestyle.

Generally speaking, pets don't do well in care of somebody that its too busy. Enjoying cuddling a pet is well different from feeding the pet, taking him for a walk and cleaning after him.
