i used to do work like that .. tough on the back .. but a human would move the pallet with the pallet jack.. next to the pallet he was pulling the boxs off of.. by the looks of it they are having the robots do a few extra steps for the demonstration..

the robots look like they can just go to the pallet on the storage rack and drop move it right to the conveyor belt ..rather than moving pallets from the pallets on the storage shelf to the pallet on the floor with the pallet jack in it ... that then needs to be moved to where the robot De palatalizing the the palate is then loading the conveyor..

a human would get tired from all the footwork ..but a four wheeled robot with well greesed wheels and a charged batteries .. won't get tired after 100 hours

so using the robots .. you can take several steps out .. and maybe replace 6 to 10 workers over 3 shifts with 1 robot .

so in the Us you might be talking replacing 100,000- 200,000 usd in paid labor per year

and that is you are staffing these jobs with minimum wage temp agency workers ..and not full time Regular employees .. but palatalizing/ shipping work.. is usually done by Temp workers who can be trained in very short period of time ..

the part of getting this to work.. is you have to use real uniform high quality pallets .. human workers have to work around crappy pallets that get beaten up ..

I'm really interested in a documentary that talks about the cons of these robots. Are they really action effective or they are just stupid robots that just work well under specific circumstances?

many of the jobs they are replaceing are highly repetitive.. some of those jobs require years of training..other the person training the next guy may not have to speak the same language..just spend a few minutes showing what needs to be done ..

as for the cons.. a huge amount of work in many jobs is this dumb repetitive work..and with an education system designed to only teach as fast as the slowest person in the class.. unless we have robot or AI.. start teaching people and totally redesign how we train people new skills .

unless we effectively use robot and AI to make humans better .. more skilled ,more intelligent .. what ever .. the cons are mainly for those who the education system failed to teach in order to have plenty of people to do low skilled jobs ..who may have no legal way to earn income without jobs .

it is a fad..once the computers can be worn or hidden inside clothing and charges as a person moves or from very light battery chargers..and the display can be hidden or take the form of very low cost glasses ..you won't have people staring in their cell phones ,at their lap top or watches..they will pretty much be staring at the wall with the hands twitch in od way depending on how they interface with the computers

you will get mugged in the street and tell the mugger his name as you hand him ..what ever valuables don't have gps location trackers and stuff ..

I'lll add this to the thread ..even though these automated indoor vertical farms do not have the look of humans ... they are a great way to use the tech.. and the price of this gear will fall.. and as we reduce the cost of generating electricity ..or of renewable sources and shift to generation 4 nuclear..we we can start growon more of the greens in building near the cities..instead us using fossile fuel to run the field machinery and then ship produce thousands of miles away..
