'Any colour you want, as long as it's black tar heroin'.

It's amusing to see other companies try to market their brand via the same kind of sci-fads as Tesla.

Amm, l saw a blue robot, but how long will it be before the robot greets a 10 years old kid, who has hacked into its mainframe, and told it to mow the lawns?

PS l heard today that a 13 year old kid, hacked into NASA's database two times in a row, before they nabbed him.

I heard that "Lying Scum" is one password they use a lot.

well what i see with this.. is you can just have a delivery vehicle ..that is big enough to carry the 40 pound box close to someones door step .. those are already developed ..

this is where things are going..

And what happens if it is pouring, and the robot is delivering a cake and the bottom of the soggy box falls away before it makes it to the door, the robot knocks on the door and you accept a soggy box, and have to pay for it?

I guess that the robot left the cake out in the rain, with the thick green icing,....never mind.

PS Ghettos will love this, take over the van, and tazer the robot, then sell the parts on Ebay. I know scientist tend to mas,....get overly exited about this sort of stuff, but l hope that they have security devices in place.

well where you have no mental grasp of how the tech is being developed and have your1980's robot sci fi version of how this is going..

i have a simple explanation for this.. these robots are private property and many get around or move usining 360 degree cameras ..that can easily transmit what they are seeing to another source in the case the are being damaged ..and it is easy to put gps locators in many parts of the robots ..

the security devices are already there ..

as far as the weather stuff you mention.. that is real easy to figure out.. it doesn't even take really smart people to figure that out ..

the reall scarey thing in my view.. is that this stuff is comming .. at a fast pace.. and in the west we have a very slow system of training people in skills to do jobs ..

here in Tuscon Arizona.. the local garbage truck .. the driver never get out of the truck for residential pick ups.. you put your trach in a big plastic bin ..and put it on the side of the street .. the truck comes by.. picks the pin up with robotic arm dumps the bin out.. and goes on ..

so much for always needing garbage men ..first minute in this video

That's nice, thankyou for those kind words, any kinder and l will kill myself!

Yeah, so if a gang of hooded men trash it with baseball bats and then throw it in a lead box, they will know and can track it!

Ok, l guess luck was on your side then.

And sure the robot will access weather patterns and such, but how long will it be before this thing is climbing up stairs and a late shower hits?

Putting all packages in weather proof containers will fix that, but the promo video is more for advertising than practicality!

ahh i doubt i can say anything to make you harm yourself.. otherwise i wouldn't talk to you ..

and do you not think the people designing this stuff are themselves coming up with these scenarios .. and trying to figure out the solutions ..

what to real deliever humans do when it is raining ...

any way ..hooded men running around in broad daylight .. when these delivery vans will be working .. just looking for that randome delivery van or automated vehicle .. and attempting to break it apart in the street and carry it off in pieces ..and get no police attention .. or attention from either people stopping to video it with their cell phones .. or have other atonmus vehicles use the camera on them to video tape what is going on ..

you forget the surveillance state .. we are in now and that it is rare in the daytime if you are out door in a city in the west .. not to be on some camera ..

So they deliver something to a rental a fair distance away from any cameras, with a lorry on standby up another street, and blow the tyres, then do a number on the robot.

Or if that is too difficult blow up the van and grab the robot.

People designing this stuff, no, they go full steam ahead and watch Irobot too many times.

Look at driverless cars, the latest issue is if they drive past flashing advertising it messes their sensors up and they crash.

I know it will save drunks, but l don't particularly want to let a machine drive me home, and go off a cliff because it confused a bright KFC sign with the road!

yes it is way to difficult to blow up a van to steal a what will be inexpensive robot.. especially for a small group of thugs in a ghetto ..lots of planning and logistics involved ..and timeing .. to you know be where the delivery vehicle is ..

wheree is the story of flashing advertising signs ..

and trying to find the article .. i ran into stories that a self driving cars are design to pull over if the detect a police car behind them.. and b.. most all accident with self driving cars .. are people hitting the cars because the self driving cars are following driving laws to the letter

so are the cars crash after passing flashing advertising signs.. are they getting hit by other drivers .. as they sslow down and pull to the side of the road mistaking the advertising signs for police lights ?

in any case once the problem gets figured out.. it will get fixxed with every autonomous car

my problem with as fast as the tech is advancing.. is we are not figuring out how to use the new tech to teach people faster ... when it is possible.. but at this point the resources are not being focused on that ..

Couldn't find flashing or bright signs, but altered stop signs, will mess up the computers sensors 100% of the time.

          https://qz.com/1397504/all-the-thing...with-seagulls/

And seagulls and hills, and,....these things are a long way from being ready, eventhough as l said previously scientists have a blind spot.

And the robot won't be inexpensive, and be easily worth a few thousand for parts on Ebay.

well maybe i just remember it wasn't 8 years ago.. that it was widely assumed it would be several decades before autonomous cars are where they are now..

now what is your person money figure when you think expensive .. as when these things roll out it would probably be about 20,000-30,000 usd for working models .. at first and rapidly drop in price

how much do you thing these type of robot will cost ?

  • Prolly Ford coulda run with the super cutesy Yoo Yoo the Spidah robot -- all fluffy an' helpful an' less gravitationally challenged than most kindsa bipeds -- but they blew it.

Agreed, why put your children in harms way at Halloween, and use a friendly giant, robotic spider instead?

They should model them on the ones in "Devil, Woman Who Lived in the Moon" or something like that!

the destruction of a few robots or autonomous vehicles.. will be as effective as slowing whats going on down.. as the Luddites where slowing the industrial age down by smashing weaving machines ..

here is my question about what is going on.. not the first to ask not the last.. jobs especial most of the menial jobs .. are a way to get money into people hands so they can buy the stuff made by machines ..from the owners of the machines ..

so if you replace many current jobs with automation ..and provide no way for people to work to earn money . why buy the machines to make stuff ..is no one can afford to buy the stuff ...and the people who do have money.. only need to buy so much ..

so unless we allow people to be handed money .. without having them grovel and beg.. the system breaks ..
