Is anyone else glad to see the Raptors clench the 2019 NBA Championship? It is their first Championship in their franchise history.

    It brought our country together and has done wonderful things for the sport of basketball in Canada! Now if only the Leafs can observe what it takes to build a championship sports team and have the NHL go back to the original and practical playoff format, my sports world would be complete.

    It was not a true win with so many of the Warriors injured. Toronto played amazing but it would have been a totally different outcome if KD had been playing or if Klay had stayed in longer in the last game.

    Janice is mostly correct. Although, building depth is part of building championships.

      Depth is key, you're right. I'm not arguing the fact "things would have been different" because I'm Canadian and a Raps fan, but all champions go through different levels of adversity to win.

      Raptors had great defence and all 5 players could get into double digits in any particular game. Very few teams can say that about themselves. They were down 2 games to none earlier in the playoffs. They did proper load management with Leonard...maybe the Warriors should have done better load management with KD?

      The Warriors made an organizational mistake by allowing KD to come back to play when he did. It's not much different than not calling a timeout when one was necessary and losing a game.

      A championship is not just won by the players who score points. It's done with ownership, management, coaches, medical staff, water boys, trainers etc. The warriors messed up somewhere off the court this year and now they have 2 legacy players out for most or all of next season.

      We will never know if Toronto (at full health) could be the Warriors at full health, but it doesn't matter. Champions have to perform when the bell rings. If the opponent isn't ready at that time, too bad.

      I think the Superbowl is one of the toughest championships to win because you ONLY play 16 games to make the playoffs. Then you have to win EVERY game in the playoffs, including the ONE championship game. If you wake up on the wrong side of the bed or have gas or cramps or a headache or whatever, you could lose the championship. At least in hockey, basketball, baseball, teams have 7 games to figure out who is the true best team.

        Yep... I got it. I lived in Northern Minnesota for a few years and grew to love Canadians (and their accent/colloquialisms).

    Hands down the Raptors were the better team.

    HOWEVER, if KD was playing they would not have won the championship.

    PERIOD!!!

      Disagree if you like but watch game 5.
      It's a best of 7 games series, so why watch just one game to make an argument who is the better team? Many champions get absolutely clobbered in at least ONE game in the playoffs, sometimes twice in the same series, and still go on to win. Is your point about game 5, the fact Toronto may have lost by 20 points instead of just 1 if KD was playing?
