So, the video gets 10.5 million views putting the brand name of Mr Beast Backpacks out there. I suspect it got on local tv and media too. May have been worth it.

Just checked and the views are now 12M since one day ago.. amazing! My guess is giving away free stuff in a real offline store with a real online store will not only cement a strong brand, yet will also create copycats.

Worth it? My guess is yes.

I watched a few minutes of the video and they seemed to be having a great time. If it was a real giveaway rather than a video stunt, interesting concept.

BUT - I have to wonder if any stunt or media exposure will guarantee the success of an online store than offers only a limited clothing line with the word 'beast' printed on it. The "coming back soon" page of 'sold out items' was a bit funny for print on demand...

But maybe it's just me and 18-20-somethings will think a shirt or cap with 'beast' written on it is the next great thing to be different...like everyone else....

well it is branding .. and it identifies fan of mr beast to other fans .. i don't follow mr beast.. but the one thing i hear about him is that he gives most of the money he makes away .. now that leads to the possiblity that wearing a beast tshirt might get a gift from mr beast ..

but i can't say that is a thing .. or it is just my suspicion of human behavior and motivation

I watched the whole video and it was a hoot for me as the theme created by the store was essentially "no catches" which is not often found in today's world and it leaves a good impression.

It may not guarantee the success, but it may earn the investors a lot and the whole venture may produce a stepping stone for more ventures. The "coming back soon" page also suggests a potential customer can sign-up for notification of availability, so its just another list building technique, but it will work to a certain level and that in itself is leverage that not even the investors can take advantage of.

And it may prove appealing to customers of all ages, even those that cannot pay (age) but visit their website, sign-up as a member, receive a free coupon to receive an additional free product at an offline store and there is the marketing bounty.

Sustainability is my question. That will have a lot to do with investors and it looks like there is a strong attempt to cover that as well.

This is what they all do now, reminds me of what pharrel did with billionaire boys club

I have no doubt they will move a small country worth of merch just on the piggy backing of beasts followers - however these brands never stick because trends change faster than cc's can keep up

Well it got Mr Beast name on it, so it's obvious it's gonna trend.

Let me explain what exactly is hapening.

If you are familiar with Youtube influencers you should know who Mr Beast is.

The idea of opening the free store wasn't the reason why it got trendy. The real reason is that it was posted by Jimmy (Aka Mr Beast).

The man has a VERY large fan base ( not only his astronomical subscribers count of around 20M).

To get an ideo about the engagement he gets, just watch his next video. He can easily reach 10M views in the first 48h in ANY video he does.

The guy donated more than $2M in the last year to twitch streamres and kinda got a HUGE reputation on the "Pewdiepie vs T-serie" affaire.

He also got in touch with Elon musk on Twitter many time and at this point is becoming a living meme.

He is one of the most (if not the first) trendy youtubers at the moment.

Stay tuned for his next video or watch his previous ones to get an idea.

Tl;dr it has nothing to do with the idea more to who has done it.

Yes, 15+ million views, and l counted two ad's with several more in the video, it seems that the revenue from the YT video, may be the cashcow, the store certainly isn't.
