CGI is becoming seriously impressive as of recently, here is a Jim Carrey one. Warning some language.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG_N...ature=youtu.be

Just check out this altered scene from "The Shining," courtesy of content creator Ctrl Shift Face, who says he used open source tool DeepFaceLab to make the video.
So he plastered Carreys face onto Jack Nicholson's face, and apart from some lip sinking being out here and there, it just looks like Carrey is doing a voiceover, impressive.

Or Sylvestor Stallone playing Arnie, in an alternative reality, (l know Mark, settle).

There are some more, but these are the highlights.

Deep fake is one of the most uncomfortable things about the internet... I had to write an article on deep fakes in one of my university classes about how it does/can violate cyber ethics

There are many things on the internet that make me ask two questions:

    1. Why would anyone waste their time doing that?
    2. Why would anyone else think it is entertaining?

I honestly don't see the value. But, then, there are many things people find interesting that make me shake my head....

January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

There are some serious implications to all of this. Let's take the worst case scenario as an example:

(please note I am not making a political statement here just using an example)

What happens if someone very skilled at this type of thing makes a fake video featuring Donald Trump, Kim Jong Un, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping or any other world leader with the audio stating that they have authorised the bombing or invasion of another country.

An actual war can start because of this, which I guess, is probably the intention. How many will die needlessly and how much destruction can be wreaked before it's known that the video is a fake? What happens once the video has been proven to be a fake? Does the war continue anyway? What will be the repercussions against the attacking nation?

The truly frightening thing is that this type of scenario is probably being looked at by some people who do not have humanity's best interests at heart right now.

Whatie because this tech is not necessary just now costs a fraction of what it did 10-15 years ago

There are safeties in place to prevent that . But the riskier thing for people is police or government agencies manufacturing videos to place people in the location of a crime . Or placing someone's else's face on the perpetrators face .
