Fun Avatar Contest...

Right then, in my last thread I talked about the importance of a "good" avatar. It was quite a fun thread with all sorts of cool comments. This gave me an idea to hold a contest for the best avatar on the Warrior Forum (from the ones I see).

To enter all you have to do is reply to this thread explaining why your avatar is so special.

That's it. I will also look around on the forum myself and pick one if it catches my attention.

Altogether I will pick the Top 5 avatars I think are the most effective and I will list the results here.

The winner will be paid $25 to their Paypal account.

There's no deadline, I'll pick the winner when I'm satisfied with the entries.

Rules: No strict rules, all entries accepted. Your avatar doesn't have to be a picture of you, it can be a design as well.

Okay then, let's have some fun

Thanks,
Adam

This was all a scheme to get me to revert to my regular avatar, wasn't it?

Mine is special because I'm two-dimensional.

Or, I could say that mine is special because my illustrator makes me look good.

Or, I could wish that WF would let me have an animated avatar, because my animated avatar is so much cooler.

      Adam,

Every avatar is special to avatar-or. Else why post it?

In the case of those amongst us using photos or illustrations of ourselves each is unique.

There is only one "Adam"; only one, almost multidimensional, Dan. And, some would say, thankfully, only one me.

Mine is "special" because it is of me. Totally and completely. What you see is what you get. No pretension. Just a late middle-aged guy who often wears a fedora. About the only thing different to my avatar and the "me" typing this, aside from apparel, is, as of last night, a shaved-smooth chin.

Well, now you'll need to change your Twitter background.

Nutz, I didn't even think of that when I decided to defoliate my chin, Dan.

But, then again, if I don't change my picture who will know?

Well Dan, I hope you're happy now.

At great expense (two cups of coffee, $2.32 and one new book, $16.30 Total $18.62) and the cooperation of photographically oriented kid at the bookstore I now have a brand-spanking-new avatar.

Sadly it still accurately depicts me...

Mine is special because I think it is the best looking picture of myself with longer hair!

DAMN I miss my longer hair..

Not my fault - conscripted army. :p

No but really, that was a picture about 2 years ago before my prom night after graduation from my equivalent of high school. My dad took it cos he thought I looked good all dressed up! (I promptly reminded him good looking his son always was...)

All this avatar talk persuaded me to upload one It's not a picture of me but that wouldn't be as fun and many people say I'm a grumpy duck, whatever that means :p I had this cartoon drawn by a cartoonist on my team :p

So I think the contest is over, I win for sure :p

    Indiana Jones look?
Nope, it's a fedora. Retro thing. It was either that or a coat of arms. Lol.
    (Which I actually made.)

Actually the hat is black. I had to lighten it to gray because I didn't want anyone thinking I was a 'black hat' kinda guy.
(White would have been overkill, though it would look good with a pink shirt)

Nothing special about my avatar -- it just looks like me BEFORE I go out rockhounding. Didn't see much sense in having the pic done after the digging because it's really hard to see me through as much dirt as I am usually wearing afterward.

KIM -- I can't really see what your avatar is. It's too small -got a bigger pic we can look at to see what we're lookin' at?

Elmer - Strong chin - good choice to un-hide it, but ya might have wanted to wait for summer........it's getting cold FAST. You even might end up with snow where you are this time around.

      Thanks, Sal,

Anything is possible. We did have snow here in January, 1977.

May have been close to a half-inch.

That stuff looks nice on a Currier & Ives print, but in real life, if I never experience it again it will be too soon.

My family used to visit FLA every other Christmas from the time I was 4 until I was an adult. My first christmas it was colder than heck down there and we bought tree-frozen oranges real cheap and squeezed them before they went bad. One year it snowed. Never saw any "usual" weather in all those years. Go figure.

Okay - you can have the thread back now.

Since this is the Warrior forum, I decided to have a Warrior
as my avatar. As Star Trek fans know, that is Gorn. With
the sole exception of some jerk named Captain Kirk, Gorn
is undefeated. In fact, Kirk cheated (as usual), so the Gorn
          actually remains undefeated and undefeatable.
