First Look at the BBC's Adaptation of H.G. Wells' 'The War of the Worlds'

After seeing the Avengers- Endgame one, l got thinking how great it would be if the H.G. Wells version of War of The Worlds was finally produced and released as a motion picture.

Not some modern day, Hollywood crap version with Tom Cruise, but set in the time period the original book used.

Unfortunately a version set in present day is being churned out in the US, which will be more of the same, but...

there is hope,....

This is more like it, or a version that is true to the book, hopefully with decent special affects, (can't be sure with tv, adaptations) but if it is done well, can't wait.

Get Kevin Costner to star. His British accent is understood by Americans perfectly.

All the British actors are busy doing American superhero movies, so it might be an All American cast...

Yes, Eleanor Tomlinson, was in Poldark, which l tried to watch, but it was too dark for my taste, although from what l remember excellent all up.

The lead male actor, should be fine, (no issues in Life of Pi).

True, English accents, they either whisper, so the add breaks cause a mini earthquake, or Cockney or worse Welsh gets mixed in, so the movie or show needs subtitles.

    Yes,...

Yes, that is because he doesn't have one. But at least Johnny Depp isn't in this one, he murders the english accent, and not in a good way.

All American, don't even think it!

Not sure whether they will have the tin can type alien tripod depiction H.G. Wells used, or the ones based on the 1970's album, (hopefully the album ones, since they looked much cooler).

But this should be out at the end of this year, and probably for Aussies at the same time?

PS the musical bits are still a question mark?

There was talk of turning this into motion picture, but the sheer cost kept mothballing the project, but this will be good as long as they don't do a cheap and nasty on the visuals?

This can be incredibly special if they do it right. What a storyline with this one.

Curiously enough, this New Jersey-ite was in West Windsor-Princeton Junction just 3 days ago. No aliens spotted.

Agreed, the album, and later on the album, (or music or songs) on stage with a classical orchestra and alien craft up top, has made this a prominent part of our culture, so if done right, should attract a large audience.

And equally true, if they skimp on the visuals, (don't bother with a tripid figure, near Big Ben) will really give the Rotten Tomato site, a workout.

A lot is at stake, but from what l can see, it seems to be in good hands?

And if the miniseries attracts huge audiences, then hopefully they will go ahead with a motion picture version.

And thankfully no, superheros, apart from microbes.

Not much to see in the trailer.

And if this image is anything to go by, this is going to be big.
