Years ago, it was fairly common flying from Asia to the mainland US on either an Airbus A340 or a Boeing 747 but now airlines have replaced these classic quadjets with more fuel-efficient twinjet counterparts (B777, A350, B787). In fact, Philippine Airlines was the last Asian operator of the Airbus A340.

You mean you fear flying, don't you?
Why assume you know what the person 'meant' better than they do? First class is better - but it's still flying.

I don't like to fly - no fear, just don't care for it any more. I also don't like brussels sprouts - but not afraid of them, either. I don't care how many engines the plane has - as long as they are working.

Interesting to see the beating Boeing is taking now for the deficiencies of their new plane. The system being investigated allows pilots FOUR seconds to make a decision about a system that can not be turned off. Too much tech - not enough practicality?

Flying stopped being fun some time ago. It's not so much the time in the air - it's all the rigmarole at each end of the journey that's ruined the experience.

I think you guys are still holding on to the past...I don't blame you as the airlines do the same with their antiquated airplanes as they should push to introduce much more advancement in flight.

I quickly adapted and optimized my travel experience by changing traveling times and practices to get through the before and after with the least amount of pain and creating for myself the most comfortable and enjoyable flying experience possible (given the lagging technology provided).

At this rate, the airlines will soon be overtaken by point to point teleportation models and go the way of the dodo. Then maybe one or two will find an evergreen niche with those that hate teleportation.
