Hello,

I want to give my girlfriend surprise Christmas gift but unfortunately it is sold out in my country. It is a light for our kitchen. If you can help me out please respond to this thread or send me a private message. I would really appreciate it.

I really need someone to save my Christmas this year. And I will of course pay for the product + shipping. If you have IKEA located near you can you please check this out for me. Thank you very much. The link to the product is here: IKEA | Lighting | Ceiling lamps | GLIMT | Pendant lamp with 6 lamps

(Unfortunately I cannot buy this online they do not allow it through their website.)

Thank you very much.

No offence mate, but if she's happy with that for a Christmas prezzie, she is one strange woman! "It is a light for our kitchen"??

How would you like it if she got you some household equipment for your Christmas present?

Get her something personal, FFS.

Jaysus, what is it with men, eh?

If your wife wants something for the home get it for her, but as part of the household budget. It's your home too. Ditto stuff for the kids. You don't give things like that for personal birthday and Christmas presents. Think of how you'd feel if you got something for the house (which you all use) as your present. It's like your wife giving you a fancy new iron to make it easier for her to iron your shirts. Wouldn't be happy would you? Yet men think women "don't mind" gifts like that.

Don't kid yourself your wife doesn't mind, she's merely resigned to it.

Christmas and birthday gifts are supposed to be personal to the person receiving them. Golden Rule: if someone else benefits from it too, then it's not really a gift for her.

Here, let me emphasize that in the light it should have been cast in...

    Ok. Let's do this...

We're marketers, so do a test. Get your wife something utilitarian
    and guaranteed to annoy Phnx.

And, get her something unexpected and in-line with Phnx' suggestions,
something personal that only she can use.

Next? Observe reactions as she opens the two presents. Perhaps give
her the iron/kitchen light type present first. Then give her the personal
    present second.

Use results for birthday, christmas next year, etc.

    How's that?

That'd work! But only if he hasn't gone cheap on the personal present. (And underwear fit for a stripper usually isn't a good idea either. Women nearly always take it back to the store in January. )

Actually, it's a well known fact. Men skulk around the lingerie sections of department stores with the vague idea the missus might like some sexy undies (of course they are really buying for their own benefit ) but unless they have impeccable taste, and more importantly know the correct size, they inevitably make a hash of it even with the assisants trying to help them out.

Regular as clockwork women take them back in January to be exchanged for something more practical, that actually fits.

          All women know this.

So you aren't using that bed too? It's all hers? Mmmmkay.

So long as you give something personal as well as practical, and thought has obviously gone into it, you'll be fine.

Unfortunately there's no IKEA near me so can't help you out. Hope someone does though.

My last wife explained it like this to me.
She said "I buy sexy lingerie to wear because you like it.
I buy sweat pants and tee shirts to wear because I like them"
Best present you can buy your wife or girlfriend is the one that shows you care about her no matter what it may be.

I'm giving her brand new BED for $2.000 + - This is just a bonus present. She was really sad when the light was sold out, I've tried eBay no luck, I contacted IKEA, still no luck. I need someone who have IKEA close to his home to help me out. (Where this light is not sold out) If you can help me out then please, please sent me private message or let me know here and I'll contact you. (I will pay you through PayPal.) for the light cost + shipping (And if you do this for me I will give you christmas present for helping me out with this.) Hint: Something from my beautiful country. Thanks for your comments. P.S. I always give my girlfriend something special for christmas. This christmas she gets bed + light + something beautiful from my heart.

    Where do you live?

There are ikeas around here. But not terribly close. This
isn't a promise to help, but perhaps I could inquire about
it and see if they have them.

I'm figuring shipping cost will be about 1,000.00. What do
    you think?

Seriously, what country are you in?

Edit: I'll look into this and get back to you. If they have one,
we'll have to move on it, fast-like. I'll send it to you if I can
find it. No problem. No need to send me a present. Pass it
on to someone in need, but thanks for the offer.

I'm only willing to do this if the shipping cost will be fair in price. $1000 would never work. Money order and Western union maybe. I'm only going to do this if the price is fair that is product + shipping. - Ken is going to check this for me. Thanks to everyone here. Oh, the BED... I will use it too that's why I give her also a special present from heart. Christmas is the time to share and give to others. Especially to those who need it.

Interesting -- my husband was just asking me what I want for my birthday, and for Christmas (the dates are close). My answer? I want things for our home -- organizational furniture, new bedding, etc. Sometimes making the home more special IS really, really what a woman wants.

If that's what your girlfriend wants, that's what she wants The fact that you are willing to go to great lengths to get her a lamp you think will be special for her, speaks a lot more about how you feel than just going down the street to buy a necklace or something. What a sweet gesture.

ETA: for my 13th birthday, I wanted my own vacuum cleaner Maybe I'm just strange You would think that I'm a neat freak, but I'm sooo not, and wish I was.

Acxtually my stepdaughter who is 22 and just this year got her own studio apartment was telling us over the weekend that she wants either a new tv (fat chance on that one) or a vacuum cleaner (very likely)for Christmas.
