Tesla CEO Elon Musk just unveiled their first electric pickup truck, called Cybertruck.

Cybertruck will come in three models, and will be available in 250, 300, and 500 miles of range. Tesla will start selling the pickup on 2021.

My thoughts - it doesn't look like a conventional pickup truck. Frankly, it looks like a speedboat on wheels.

I was expecting an actual truck, like an 18-wheeler. Though this looks like something out of Back to the Future II.

That is where the car from Fortress ended up.

  • Didn't the demo for the vehicle go horribly wrong? Their claim for unbreakable glass hit the ground when one of the volunteers was asked to throw an object. The glass shattered. lol!.

It does indeed look very futuristic, but it doesn't seem to be practical for its purposes at least. And there's the issue with costs as well, who knows what the starting price is going to be.

Tesla might want to slow down a bit and solve it's 'bursting into fire without warning' problem some of the cars seem to have.

The body is impressive - they were hitting it with a sledge hammer - and no dent.

I find it amazing that so few people have figured out this is a public relations ploy.

(From the articles I saw, perhaps only roughly 1 in 30 or 40 people realize that a brilliant joke was played on them. Well done, Elon!)

The press -- even the automotive publications -- fell for it!

But, don't worry... that is NOT the new Tesla truck.

From the grungy metal finish... to the poorly fitting panels... to the glass that broke (twice)... to the fact that they gave very few specifications... to the lack of interior images... it's a FAKE.

I absolutely loved Elon's well-rehearsed, "Room for improvement" comment. Hilarious... and completely scripted.

These events are VERY CAREFULLY planned. Heck, they probably threw a dozen metal balls at those windows to MAKE CERTAIN THEY WOULD BREAK. (Otherwise Elon's joke wouldn't work.)

This is one of the most ingenious PR STUNTS EVER. It has EVERYONE talking (which was the goal).

Well the breaking windows cost him $600 million in stock price so maybe great marketing or maybe someone screwed up ... But yes Mr Musk doesnt seem to do anything without a great deal of thought ... And he doesn't have a single dollar in his marketing budget

In the grand scheme of things, that swing will be meaningless.

When the new truck is ACTUALLY revealed, the stock will rebound in a major way... and the investors will all talk about what a genius Elon is.

Pfft! Tesla received almost 150,000 orders for the new trucks. The share price will bounce back.

Except for the triangular look of the truck, it's really cool and the unbreakable glass should not break next time.

Design is poor, although function is really compelling. It's not the kind of future car I'm expecting but it's not a bad truck, either.

I'm expecting it to be really expensive already, though. Might need to reconsider the design.
