Describe Your Christmas Day

Was it everything you hoped for, did you see relatives you would not see all year round. Did you have some arguments, did you get a nice gift?

Whatever it was like, give us the brutal truth.

I went for a meal at the Golden Corral Buffet with a friend, her daughter and kids, it was packed but they had just about anything you wanted to eat. The chocolate fountain to finish on is always a highlight. Quite a rush to the brain.

    When I lived in Las Vegas I liked going to a casino buffet for Thanksgiving and went with friends and family if they were in town. Everyone could eat whatever they wanted and no one had to cook or clean (except the buffet workers). The only bad part was no leftovers.

      No cooking and cleaning sounds good, l almost cooked the entire roast dinner, including pudding, and cleaning up afterwards. And was thanked for that, but also collapsed in a heap afterwards, (took a nap and woke up three hours later).

      Nothing much to report for presents, cash, and two musical cards is what l got, one played jingle bells, and the other had a nice stars in the sky and also lit up a churchtower inside the card, but no music thankfully.

      So a pretty good day, but yeah, too much work.

    My wife spent the day with her daughter and her family. I spent most of the day writing a new speech.

    Our in-laws were supposed to come over for dinner, but their children dropped by unexpectedly, and took them out instead.

    To be fair, I was raised not celebrating the holidays, and have no feelings about that time of year. My wife does, so we tend to either have relatives over...or she spends the day with her daughter's family.

    Thanksgiving is usually the day the entire family (my wife's) get together.

    Do you know who we are now? The old people that the family feels obligated to invite over....and who buys the best gifts.

        Believe it or not, every year we sell a couple dozen vacuums as Christmas presents.

        And if it's the husband buying one for the wife, I always make sure...
        1) She knows it's a vacuum cleaner.
        2) She asked for one as a gift.

          I made the mistake of buying my now ex wife a state of the art steam cooker. I said well you like cooking, this will give you a fully cooked meal from fresh ingredients in 20 minutes I said. It still languishes in her garage.

          My other one was that she wanted a Bose, single unit cd/radio stereo. Great sound but a little expensive. I bought her a cheaper Phillips compact unit which had compact speakers and an equally great sound, and a place to put her IPod for playback. It was rarely used.

          I could ask, what's the most disappointing present you received or had given to someone else, thinking they would like it?

    I had planned a quiet christmas as family went to colorado for the holiday. Had all sorts of plans for hanging out, doing nothing.


    Turned out to be worst Christmas ever...Last Sunday evening - without any warning - my Gracie went into heart failure and three hours later I'D lost my friend of almost 12 years. Going forward I will be happy I was here with her, there did not seem to be any pain or fear - happy to have had so many years with this wonderful dog. That's for later...for now, I just miss her.


    Definitely a bah humbug holiday for me this year. Sorry to be a downer - but you did ask....

    My wife and I spent the day together at home. It was quiet and wonderful (no guests). We watched a few Christmas movies (Christmas Story and Home Alone) and then we watched the Detective Joe Kenda marathon on the Investigative Discovery channel. I cooked a nice steak for dinner. We snacked on chocolates and party mix. I really enjoyed the day, but am looking forward to the new year.
