Anyone receiving spam to their paypal address?

On the 31st of October I changed the email address on my PayPal account I use to purchase items, partly because the old address received a lot of spam.

Today I received spam to the new address, despite it only being used to purchase a small number of items including a couple of WSO's and is not used for any other purpose.

So it seems that one of the people I have purchased from is using or allowing others to use this address for spam. Has anyone else experienced this? Or could there be another explanation?

    Ron,

Could be the usual process, where the addresses are just guessed through a dictionary attack.

Could also be people here selling or spamming your address. That's not anything new. If the spams are for IM-type products, it's pretty likely it's someone you bought from.

Thanks Paul, it is always nice to hear from you.

I guess I was trying to alert everyone that even those we might assume to be professional in their dealings might well not be so. The length of time my new email was in use makes me doubt anything other than it being passed on by someone I purchased from.

I have only received the one spam email that I am aware of, but trying to track down who that actually came from is like unraveling a ball of string.

Hmmmmm Sherlock, I think you're onto something here.

Actually, it's only been within the last 3 months that ALL OF A SUDDEN I was being lambasted with spam e-mails.

This is the ONLY e-mail addy that is getting slammed, which by the way is my PAYPAL account too!

Hummmm, I think this explains it now. Thanks for the insight!

P.S. I select ALL THE e-mails in my Junk e-mail folder as Phishing / Scam Emails. I noticed that the emails I'm getting are fewer and fewer by the day. Hopefully, I won't get anymore.

P.S.S. What' also surprising is that I'm getting e-mails from BIG companies as well (these are probably scam artists though)!

Be well and keep safe all! You can NEVER be too careful!

    Cheers,

    JMB

No matter how new my email address is, the minute I sign up for a paypal account with it it gets blasted with spam. I believe paypal sells their merchants' email addresses. I have seen proof of this over and over again.
