My expired blog got weird language and how to remove?

Hi everyone!

I'd like to ask if anyone knows, one of my blogs' domain got expired and I didn't wanna renew. When I type in a web browser it shows a Japanese page with that domain (I thought it got a virus or hacked). And because I'm using shared hosting and I have another addon domain together with that expired one. So, if it's a virus, should I worry about the addon domain? Or just ignore that expired one? Or what should I do in this case? Thanks in advance!

(I went to hosting to delete all data related to it and went to google console to delete everything else too.)

If you allowed the domain to expire - you have no control over it - and you can't maintain an 'add on' to an expired domain.

If you want control over domain and add-ons to it, you must keep the registration. That's common sense.

To elaborate on what Kay said. When you buy a web address you can "point" it (nameservers) to any web hosting location/folder you desire. As long as you have added the website address to your shared hosting account it creates a folder for it,and creates an index.html page, it will then display the website you created within your hosting account in that folder.

Letting the domain expire just means anyone who purchases it has the right to "point" it elsewhere.

So, there is no question of your web hosting account being compromised or having a virus. It just means your website and content is no longer visible via typing in that address. And of course any subdomain you created under it.

...and to make any changes they want to make.

Waving from afar, keeping a safe distance.
      How are you, Kay?

I haven't been around for quite a while due to a heavy writing workload.
I thought I would peek in to see if anything is interesting.

ICANN Lookup shows that a Japanese company bought your domain on 2020-02-12. They pointed it to servers and launched a live site on 2020-04-26 (although that ICANN data is not always accurate).

If you want a website now you will need to buy a new domain and start over. You lost your domain name and as a result you lost your website.

If you seriously want it back you might contact the company and make them an offer. They may be willing to sell the domain name back to you. ICANN shows a contact email address for the company.

Was thinking about you the other day. Of course, 'busy writing' is a good thing..right?

Welcome back - good to see you.

    Hi Kay,

Busy IS a good thing, and it came because of a post I did in this very forum 9 years ago. So that is a great thing to happen.

Yes, I was too busy to even read fiction books by my favourite author.

I hope that when you were thinking about me that it was in a good way, not a bad one.

I will try to hang around a bit for the time being, see who is still here, etc.
Always good to see you too, Kay.

There is only a couple of people we think about on this forum in a bad way. One is large and the other small.

Who is your favourite author by the way?
