I have a Macbook; I don't use anti virus or anti spyware software. Its not a necessity for the Mac unless you want to feel extra secure.

That's actually somewhat of a myth. Most viruses are delivered through exe files which can't be installed on a Mac. Plus there is a much bigger target with PC users. But, Macs can still get viruses and with the growing base of Mac users, I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they start targeting us

I've been using iAntiVirus, does anyone have another that they would recommend?

I use a Mac and I don't use any Anti-Virus scanners as well. I haven't used a firewall/Anti-Virus on Windows for the past 4-5 years, they're annoying and I don't dl sketchy files.

Wow, ok. I consider it a bit careless, especially if you're a full time marketer - if it's your work computer and your lively hood (IMHO).
"Contrary to popular belief, the Macintosh operating system has not always been a safe haven from malicious code," said the report, which was issued on Monday. "It is now clear that the Mac OS is increasingly becoming a target for the malicious activity that is more commonly associated with Microsoft and various Unix-based operating systems." - Wired.com

      And this was from 2005!
I didn't really want this thread to be a debate about whether or not Macs get viruses but if someone could recommend a quality anitvirus (spyware, malware) software for Macs (that isn't open source), I'd appreciate it.

I use VirusBarrier X5 because I have a Macbook pro with windows, and it has both Mac and windows protection.
