You Tube TV & Other TV Streaming Apps

So are we all still using Satellite or Cable TV, or streaming apps?

What are you using to get your TV Channels at the moment.

I have Just signed up for a 2 week free trial with You-Tube TV. It has 85 channels, local channels, movies and shows. Pretty good, Unlimited Cloud storage so you can record multiple shows or movies at the same time and they will keep them for nine months. Also a selection of movies you can watch for free. The cost after the trial is $64.99 per month. Reliable and good quality picture. (You will need a fast internet connection to get the best out of it though) You can add movie channels like HBO and Showtime etc, of course that is extra.

I got fed up with paying a few dollars per month for these dubious organizations giving you thousands of channels. Always buffering problems and they keep vanishing. Where I live, I can't pick up any over the air antenna channels so had to have something. Pluto TV, free in the US and OK but all old stuff

Well now I'm official. So what do you use?

  • Apart from a wealth of free-to-air stations and the ability to watch shows after they have aired, I have Netflix and got that from the first day of moving here.
    I tried Stan but gave it the flick in favour of Amazon Prime as it offers a lot more.
    I could watch a different movie or episode or 2 of a TV series every day of the year without getting bored. I am thinking about trialling Disney+ for the Marvel movies and new TV shows.



    Considering I stare at my pc screen most days for hours, it's plenty for me.

    • In the UK you have a lot of free channels over the air (I'm an ex-pat Brit.). Here in the States you do too but some are not accessible. There are quite a few Spanish and Chinese and Thai ones among them. In a good location, you can pick up 54 slots but some are weak or not transmitting. Not as well developed as the UK but the distances are much larger and to use an antenna only gets so much.

      So, we have to subscribe to something. I have Amazon Prime, mainly for the free delivery and Netflix. On things like streaming sticks or smart TV's we have the free, Pluto TV, not available in the UK, It has many channels but it's mostly old movies and B grade stuff. Still, it has it's uses, you can binge watch the Antiques Roadshow or watch endless episodes of Dr Who from the 70's and eighties.
  • I finally cut the cord with DirecTV. They pissed me off for the last time.

    I went with YouTube TV and, so far, haven't missed a beat.

    I also have a free 30+ channel package with AT&T called Watch TV. It has some channels that YouTube doesn't (like Hallmark -- that my wife needs to breathe), so they work well together.

    I also get HBO Max for free from AT&T and got a year free of Apple TV when I bought one of their streaming boxes.

    I pay for Netflix and Hulu and have Amazon Prime, as well.

    Added later: forgot. We also pay for Disney+ for the boy. I got a three-year deal for around $3/mo.

    Lately, we watch Youtube for baseball and spend the rest of our time in Hulu.
  • Downgraded from the super max Verizon Fios TV Package that had all the Premium movie channels. Kept only HBO, then used the saved TV package money to upgrade to Gigabit Internet signed up for Netflix, Hulu, Prime and Disney+.

    For anyone looking to cut cable the best deal right now is Disney+/Hulu/ESPN. Has the best of all worlds. Anyone using these new free streaming services?

  • Au follows the US, in free to air selections, and we currently have about 54 stations of total crap to choose from.

    I hope you subscribed to the new one, "Sudsy", which mainly does reruns of soap based activities, although they are branching out into leather apparel.

  • This is a really interesting offer, as I have been looking for such coupons for my relatives for a very long time. But the problem was that I have been using this service for a very long time and very often connections just disappear or I get knocked out of my account. I am stressed out by this instability because I often watch movies of different genres surrounded by my family and every time I re-enter the system to update and try to configure everything I need is tiring. Regarding such situations, the developers themselves Advised me to prevent the service from working properly, but I just don't have the time and desire to constantly play with it. I started looking for services that can provide me with a stable job and came across several of them, the most successful option in my opinion is Dolbri streaming. I'm not saying that it's perfect and the best, But at least it doesn't force me to constantly log in to the account. Moreover it is free which I think is quite profitable as it provides a huge selection of films that my family likes. Of course, you can say and name a lot of services that are also good or even better such as Netflix, but I am not satisfied with paying a huge amount for what I can get for free.

  • Here down-under I am using Netflix, free YouTube, some free-to-air shows I follow and a bit of Amazon prime. I am considering Disney plus BUT I will ring my Telco because they offer deals on 3, 6 or 9 months free trial of a ton of streaming services.


    It's more than enough because I try to avoid watching anything until 4pm. I usually have to do work anyway.

  • Right now, I'm lounging in my driveway watching Indiana beat the snot out of Michigan on the 60 in TV I recently installed in my garage.

    This would've been either a pain in the ass or an additional monthly expense if I were still with DirecTV. Piece of cake with YouTube TV.

    I haven't missed traditional Cable for a second since switching.

    • I'm still using it, Seize ups or buffering now and again which also corresponds with You-Tube becoming unresponsive for a while, other than that, pretty good.
