Scientist create TRANSPARENT wood as clear as glass but stronger, lighter and five times more thermally efficient

Scientists transformed wood from balsa trees into clear material that could replace conventional glass
The team bleached the wood until it was nearly clear and then added a synthetic polymer called polyvinyl alcohol
The innovation is five times more thermally efficient than traditional glass
It is also stronger and will bend instead of shattering if damaged

Article.

Well I suppose the bending rather than shattering bit is useful, but glass is made from sand, one of the most abundant materials on the planet.

Perhaps it could if it bends without breaking, they would just need to color it. We need tree's though to soak up Co2

Balsa wood grows unbelievably fast. It's highly sustainable. Further, I don't think the point is to completely replace glass.

I used to buy and fly many balsa wood planes as a kid. Trouble was they broke so easily. Now this could break the balsa wood plane industry if planes are made out this new substance, less sales because more resilient.

Plus, the planes would be invisible.

Neither. It was unfamiliarity with the establishment in question.

This illustrates the value of online fora such as this one. No matter what the topic is, you'll find someone on board who has some "hands on" knowledge on that topic.

Which is what just happened. I posted what I though was the name of the establishment, and up you popped to correct me, and inform everyone else of the establishment's correct name.

As a member of the Wooster Men's Bathhouse Sauna And Feather Boa Emporium, let me tell you about it's most popular attractions.

First, you enter under the Ran Riffle Arch Of Shame, and enter the Riffle Room, where the men are forced to emasculate themselves by reciting the Dan Riffle Pledge Of Picayuneness.

And then the games begin. You can choose from the Riffle Rumpus Room, The Dan Riffle Parlor Of Humiliating Massage.....or the most popular Towel Snapping Sports Bar, featuring the statue of Dan Riffle...on a tall pedestal, to appear normal sized.

What? Yes...Yes...I was the one who headed The Committee To Name The Different Rooms.

Claude is only a member since he has a lifetime supply of Soap on a Rope Family Fun Packs, that he got a substantial discount on, (he told Walmart that he would never step foot in their store ever again, even on all you can eat, 6 month old, sausage day).

He also tried the same trick on his local Krispy Kreme store, but after the staff, pleaded, kissed his feet and promised to make a gold bath full of pink icing, he relented.

He didn't go near the theatres, since they are trying to play "Cumference of Doom the Directors Cut".

I watched that already, and without giving anything away, it has the usual production companies at the start, (Feather Enporuim Productions, Soap and Suds Corporation, etc) and then the end credits!

And they are a front for Claudes real business, which is in his basement under the store..."Big and Beautiful".

Or male bondage for sizes XXXXXL.

I had the privilege of going to this store on a scholarship, (Inflate & Elate) and was impressed with the level of security, what with the blindfold, secret entrance, and spiral staircase.

And the staff where polite, eventhough the groaning and screaming from the refurbished medieval torture closest change rooms got a bit too much.

    ....and the whips!

After a while l though l know that Inflate & Elate, is a well known seedy, sex toy company with offices somewhere, but l am not going to test out a leather whip, with an overweight guy, handcuffed to the ceiling with a bottle of olive oil on standby.
