Thanks to Amazon, I will be getting mine within a couple of hours. The new Quest is well reviewed and a big update to the original one. A much faster processor and most importantly 50 percent more pixels and a higher refresh rate. So, it should be a much better defined view and a much sharper image. Also, the screen door effect should be eliminated. This is the slight grid effect that you get when viewing through the eyepieces when the pixel density is low. You can see between them.

This device is stand alone and no need to connect to a computer. It runs Wifi to view video from the net and play games. I have the original Oculus Go and the original Quest. We shall see how much better this is. I shall update with a review.

Has anyone here ever tried a VR Headset. What were your impressions?

Interesting, has a full color pass through camera and overlays stuff onto the real world. This I expect will be pricey.

They are on the pricey side, know they have sold out of stock, still limited production I guess. But like anything else newer and better will come out driving the price of these things down.

At one end of the scale, you have ...

"Our underwired Luscious Lolita range maintains the illusion of firmness for the older lady and blends an evocativeness of lace with no risk of either nipple popping through any gaps. Our free wrench makes undressing easy and pain free, and our on-call Fitting Squadron guarantees you'll be ready for action first thing in the morning in less than 90 minutes."

Interesting fact: the Oculus Quest 2 is like a bra for the head.

Well, so far unusable, problem being that Oculus is now owned by Facebook and you have to login to Facebook. I can login to my Facebook on my pc and the app on my phone but not via the Oculus App. Support tickets have been sent both to Oculus and Facebook. Although they are the same outfit now, most frustrating.

Update: Still not resolved. This is the most ridiculous marketing I have ever seen.

Some people who want this much fanfared headset have had a Facebook account and had it banned for some slight and are unable to get another, hence, because the headset needs a Facebook login to work means the thing is bricked.

You can only have one Facebook account and they are very good at detecting secondary or faked ones and ban them, no recourse. Using other peoples may put theirs at risk.

You can use the Oculus account in the app on previous devices but only till 2023, where then it will require a Facebook account.

    Are you getting it yet.

In my case, my Facebook account has not been banned, just seems to have technical difficulties being used to login to the Oculus app. I have reset the password but to no avail and the Facebook user pass logs in to my, PC/Laptop and android app (for Facebook) with no problems. Just not the Oculus app.

I have had no response from Facebook and the Oculus division can offer no further help as they said Facebook will contact me.

If I send this device back there are currently no other decent stand-alone Headsets available on the planet. Only ones that require tethering to a PC and are more expensive.

    What to do......

If you want me to go on arguing, you'll have to pay for another five minutes.

My son got his a couple of days ago. I played with it for a few minutes. It was okay but seems like you're taking multiple steps back from modern gaming graphics-wise. I guess he has to wait for better games than the ones he got.

As far as graphics, the whole concept of gaming in VR, on this stand alone device, is a little different than on a PC with a dedicated graphics card. More like a considerably updated and an immersive version of what we had with the Wi counsel. The Wi was very entertaining in itself. I'm sure much enhanced graphics for standalone devices will come with time.

Personally I am more for watching big screen movies up close and visual VR content, tours, interactive documentaries and experiences. The resolution jump being considerable will make this even more enjoyable.

I did get a reply back from Oculus today saying they were working on it.
