This Woman Fooled Pen & Teller..But

I quickly spotted an easy way she could do this, perhaps despite her size.

    I hate to say it, but this "escape from the locked box" trick is old. I can think of three ways she did it. The bottom plate just slides in, it can slide out...or she can raise it from the side, slip out the bottom (without moving the box too much) or she simply had a second key.

    I also can't believe that Penn and Teller don't know how it's done.

      You were on the right track, here's my take. The base was not tethered down but was trapped inside the structure and covered the whole floor she was lying on it so had her weight on it....

      She could move to the back of the structure and brace herself with her right foot against one end and her back/hands against the other and for a few seconds, lift herself clear of the base, with the left foot she drops it down on the base. Her left shoe has a magnet in it, the base is magnetized. She could then lift it up and prop it against the front grill at an angle. It did not look that heavy.

      She then has some real floor underneath her, so could drop down and then lift up the back of the still intact structure and exit, reaching back in to flip the base back into position.

      That's my take anyway. The non stripping strippers and music covered any sounds she would make.

      I'm also surprised Pen and Teller did not think of something like that.

        I noticed that the curtain covering the cage was deep. It went back far more than to cover the cage. That's why I assumed that she had to roll out from under it, either in front of the cage or behind it.

        With shows showing magic tricks, you can't discount the obvious. It's possible the show was edited slightly (although I doubt it in this case) or Penn & Teller really knew how the trick was done. Probably when they first looked at the cage.

        Talent shows like America's got talent use editing heavily. I've also seen plenty of Magic specials where the mechanical equipment...that really does the trick...is just slightly off camera. Or the trick depends on actors being part of the audience.

        It's why I like close up magic more.

        A friend of mine is a stage magician and hypnotist. We used to go to Las Vegas often for speaking engagements, an would sometimes watch magicians, and he would ask me if I knew how it was done. Sometimes.

          I was reading about that show. They apparently have some rules. The producers are shown how a trick is done before it's performance so the execution can be shot and performed fairly. No stooges in the audience are allowed.

          The close up magic is the best where Penn and Teller are sitting at the table. I also like the quick change artists, especially with the masks as well as the clothes.

          Pen and Teller did a series years ago where they went to different countries to seek out the best street magicians. In China. magic was banned for a long time but they finally relented allowing juggling and balancing acts back, and then magic tricks. Thing is, they have only one dedicated school where you learn these arts and one performance place for each, right next to the school.

          Virtually nobody ever turns up to see them perform. P and T sat through a juggling, balancing act and then a magic one, they were the only people there watching. Sad.

    I so weeny, prolly I coulda slipped outta the grill at the front.

    Prahblem there is ... Teller is clearly gettin' a pro to do his hair.

    An' because he is the jongleur de trixeau silent type ... prolly he would play my escape route like Harpo Marx twangin' a harp.

    My favo tricks are sleight of hand magic, plus also when gals turn into tigahs.

    I also love them darin' escapes feecherin' chains, handcuffs an' blindfolds.

    We all know evrythin' is a trick -- but we so love the pullin' off part.

        First, you distract him with sum real smart close-up sleight of hand magic -- like balls an' cups.

        While this happnin', you release the Sneako Pickpocket Gals from their traps.

        They speshly skilled at pluckin' your wallet from your pocket without you noticin' ... why, then can even remove your Rolex without you feelin' a thing.

        As the Sneako Pickpocket Gals creep toward the Totally Distracted Riffle*, the guys who make the shirts you can rip off from undah jackets hand ovah velcro-enhanced sections of Kitty Costoom, all folded up like parachutes.

        Riffle follows the next ball from cup to cup ... dreamin' of his prize ... plus also the glory ...

        meantime, them sneako gals be affixin' a cutesy tail to his ass without him feelin' nuthin' ... snappin' togethah his costoom one carefully cut roll of kitty fur at a time (like the guy makin' the flesh soot in Silence of the Lambs) ... till finally they throw on the ears, an' tip 'em at a real curious angle while Riffle sayin' can we try this again with just the one cup?

        Can we try that plz?

        I dun speshl trainin' as a dancah so if'n I can perfect my sneakin', prolly I could handle fixin' up the li'l wet nose an' the whiskahs.
