Rain in Oregon

Ah what a beautiful morning....Oregon once again is allowing all residents the ability to turn a golden brown---RUST! from the wet.

I now leave for Reno (310) miles to see if the VA is ready to let me see through my left eye again. Damage due to cardiac medicine that I take to keep my "pump" going at the right number/force of each and every beat. Seems like a good trade off until I try to read something or drive at night!

Best part? I get to drive through Northern California, my old stomping grounds, and probably will get at least 50/60 miles of snowy weather/roads/landscape. BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY--recharge the old wilderness batteries!

While you may have to shovel snow it will never rust you!

Everyone have a great day...me and my dogs are on a road trip! Wheeeeeee!

  • Well I was just about to say how I, in Northern California, envy you and your rain in Oregon.

    We are having trouble getting past Summer here - and still warm and muggy. It is hard to believe if it is snowing somewhere around here, but I guess you mean up in the mountains (I am at sea level).

    I would be happy if it rained everyday and was about 60 degrees max - guess you can't have everything -

    I hope you enjoy your trip (envy that too) and really hope your eye gets better.
  • Have a great trip! My brother lives in Quincy, and I've been dieing to get down there. We grew up in Oroville. While I don't care much for Oroville, I love the Quincy area. I've had a Jeep for well over a year now, and still haven't got the thing down there to play.

    Good luck with the VA. Is Reno better than Portland? Just curious since it seems that Portland would be closer for you.

  • I recently moved back to Portland from Southern California.
    I loved Southern Cal in the 80's but it's not the same.
    The great thing about Oregon is eventually the weather will
    be gorgeous but unpredictable. Oh yeah and there is plenty of water.

    • Yea! Home again Home again. Snow? Almost enough on the ground for the dogs to leave tracks (footprints not yellow!)..disappointed but still a great drive.

      Left home 3:30 a.m.---saw three doctors...got home again 7p.m. round trip 632.5 miles.

      You should be familiar with the Westwood area? I lived in the small town of Clear Creek for long number of years. Total number of houses...153. So, yes Portland is about 35 miles or so closer but you the traffic difference alone scares the p/p out of me!

      Eye surgeon lady tells me that late January they can get me scheduled for the slice and dice time.

      If you get that jeep down there, keep going down 89 to just north of Truckee. Look up the Fordyce Jeep Trail near Webber Lake/Summit City. We went on that fourth of July weekend. Almost 6 hours to get 9 miles---only 1 major body ding on my step-sons rig.
