I'm Buying My Daughter A Computer For Her Birthday

Today I'm taking my daughter out and hopefully buying her a computer for
her birthday, which just happened to be on the 1st of this month. We were
hoping we could have her on the same day I was born (Nov 11th) but she
insisted on coming out early. This would have saved us two celebrations.

As it turns out, she celebrated her 21st birthday on the 1st with her friends
and had her first drink...Irish Coffee.

So we get to celebrate together this year anyway, even if it's not official.

Anyway, what should I get her, a MAC or something else? One thing I know
is that she doesn't want anything to do with Microsoft.

Suggestions are welcome.

well if she doesnt want anything to do with microsoft she probably wants a mac or pc with linux on it. microsoft makes software for both mac and pc.

I would suggest a dell. When it comes down to it,parts are parts. The processor in a dell is no different than the one in a gateway and even some models of mac. But what are you going to do when it breaks, and it will. Where will you get it repaired?

If you're getting a laptop most places will charge a little extra for laptop work. If you're getting a desktop that means that either you are tearing it down if/when it breaks to take it to their shop or you're paying extra to get them to come out to you.

dells have repair warranties that has a repair person coming to you..next day.

    just my .02

      Steven,

If you're checking prices, Tiger Direct (.com) is a good place to look. I've bought a lot of stuff from them and have been very satisfied.

(Stay away from MS Vista, it's sub-par to say the least)

I would go for a mac if she wants nothing to do with microsoft its probably the only choice.....

does being born 11 days before your birthday mean you are both the same star-sign??
