Classic Rock And Pop Acts Are Killing New Musicians Financially

The BBC reports that even reasonably successful musicians in terms of recognition are making very little money on legit digital downloads of their songs. So much so that one had to move back home with his parents.

CD sales are really low as people have turned too digital downloading. Performing live to make money was strongly affected by Covid.

Also, the classic bands dating back to the seventies and sometimes 60's are still having far more downloads than new musicians. They are calling for more revenue on each download.

To get into the singles charts requires far less sales these days.

I will point out, that in my view, modern approximations of what is called "music" is for the most part, "Absolutely dire" Perhaps that's a reason that people are downloading it less and are just happy to hear it on the radio. It cant all be older people downloading the classic quality stuff. Perhaps kids are hearing it and recognizing that it was so much better than what's around today.

What do you think?

Crushing new artists with th no fan bases no marketing and competing against millions of other artists able to post tracts on download sights

So - after 'tapes' and cassettes - after CD's and streaming music..and a pandemic...to make real money musicians need to go on tour with live performances again.
