Would you want your super yacht to have a big hole in the middle. Looks amazing but what a waste of space?

  • The silly things people spend money on when they have 40 to 60 million dollars to spend engineer doors to rise up and open in calm seas and close and be water tight in rough seas and I will be impressed. And if the doors when opened had enough solar to take care of the ships power needs.

    Build this very expensive supper yachts so they run off solar a majority of the time and with vertical access turbines that can be retracted when the ship is moving

  • It does feel like a too much money, spend it on dumb things situation. I did wonder whether, I was being too critical and knocking "innovation"?

    • I don't care about the money the world we live I has no shortage of money and is creating modern types of money.

      Even though I argue against co2 based climate change I get disgusted at things built that will just emit gigantic amounts of co2 while they are being used

      A super rich person building a super yachts that can run off solar power . So the panels can retract so a helicopter can land. Then I would be impressed.

  • I have been on 5 cruises, all with Royal Caribbean. Enormous ships carrying up to 5000 + passengers. All those times off peak (still great weather) so scant few children. Loved them all. They have ships twice as big now. I loved the lifestyle and if I could have afforded it would love to have spent my retirement on one.

    Food, delicious, and all catered for, room gets cleaned, laundry done (extra cost), great entertainment all in, theater, cinema, a casino. Places to get off and visit. You can party or just relax. Great lifestyle.

    There is, or was one called The World. A luxury ship where people lease or buy the large cabins. Basically it just travels around the World continuously.

    But, a continuous cruise on the Royal Caribbean ships would be to me, luxury living. A basic balcony cabin. I would add unlimited internet, an unlimited drinks package and all access to the specialty dining.

    The only drawback is that you have to get off when it returns to port of origin and then you can get back on again after perhaps 24 hours.

    I know of one woman who did this for years from retirement. Eventually she became senile in her 80's and had to be taken off as she was walking around upsetting the passengers. So, it's not a totally Plain Sailing idea.

    • I billionaire just has to fund the next bond movie. I wonder how much of the purchase cost of high ticket items like yachts, private jets, and gigantic mansions can be charged to the cost of making a movie.

  • I knew a woman who spent 2/3 of her time on cruises - for free. She had a friend with 'connections' and obtained a 'position' holding 'crafting classes' on cruises.



    She said she was not treated as 'crew' - worked only 5-10 hrs a week and had access to all the food and entertainment guests were offered. It was a sweet position for someone who was free to 'roam'.

    • Lots of entertainers and speakers get that deal. Free cruises for putting on shows or seminars. I don't think they get paid though. And that's why these entertainers can't do this nonstop.

      One way to make money on this (I hate this idea) is that you get two cruise tickets. You have a friend pay you a discounted fee for the cruise and you take them with you. That way you get paid, and you get a free cruise.

      I heard that idea at a speakers convention. I thought it was taking advantage of a friend, but it's an idea.

  • Looks like a accident waiting to happen. . Definitely something to cruise around on when the weather is calm. Would not want be on that in rough seas. History channeling is currently running a show when engineering goes bad. Looks like the perfect candidate for a future season.

  • She's not a yacht, more likely a swimming platform for a fine weather ))))) I think, it's time to distinguish "yachts" as a heritage and that "plastic-fantastic" of a consumer age... I owned both types, I can hardly name one single feature making modern "boat" a better choice. Anyone?
