We spent over $100 to get Luby's ( cafeteria here in Texas) to cater our family's turkey day meal. We could have gone over to the relatives for a big hoe down but there are so many people ; it's just not enjoyable.

Any specific plans you fellow Americans have for turkey day ??

We're spending 8 days in rainy Orlando getting jacked around by our resort. This is our first vacation Thanksgiving and it will be our last.

So it's the Last Resort, yeah, I know. Wondering about what a hotel could do to mess up your vacation so much?

Arrived Saturday. Room wasn't ready; waited for *six* hours. It wouldn't have been so bad had they told us it would be 6 hours instead of "hopefully soon" every two hours. We were kinda stuck in limbo.

Room we got was not what we reserved.

Was told yesterday we'd have a new room this evening. Repacked our room and made certain decisions and rescheduled activities for the entire week based on timing (having to reschedule one event caused a domino effect throughout much of our week).

Went to change rooms; resort lost our transfer request and gave our new room away. Then told us they had no record of our request or permission from the manager for the change (the lady who helped us yesterday didn't enter it into the system correctly).

After some "discussion" (during which my son stepped on my leverage a little by telling the manager how much he loves our current room), we've been "guaranteed" that we'll be in the correct villa tomorrow BUT now we have to check out at 10am and can't get back into a room until....? They don't know when the new villa will be ready. Not a big deal as we have a full day scheduled tomorrow, but we were originally told we wouldn't have to check out early for the change. Groceries were purchased; we flew, so no cooler. Resort says they'll store our food for us. I definitely got somebody in trouble, so giving them unfettered access to my food makes me...uncomfortable.

It's been one fustercluck after the other to the point I'm slightly concerned we'll get back tomorrow and be completely without a room. They'll give out our current room and our future room...(the place is booked to capacity for the holiday).

First world problems, really, but annoying.

I'm fairly easy going and absolutely refuse to give hell to service workers. But when the right buttons get pushed I can get...verbally aggressive. The manager just happened to push said button. A low-voiced-clenched-teeth riot act was read.

          Hey Dan,
I love Orlando. My brother has a house 10 minutes from the Magic Kingdom. I sincerely hope your luck changes and you have a really good time.

Thanks. Everything's fine, per se. Orlando, itself, is great. This is our second time here in the past 6 months (also our second time at this resort this year which you'd think would account for something...).

Tell your brother we'll be over for Turkey Day. We'll bring the pie.

Yep, a lot of food is just going to simply, disappear.

We spent most of the day at Cheryl's Sister's home. Our Brother-in-law is the funny one in the family. He's the one I spend all my time with, trading insults...telling stories.

His older brother was visiting, and so we got to meet him. He's exactly the same as his brother, and we immediately started insulting each other.

My wife's sister is a phenomenal chef. i had a turkey leg (among other things) and when we left, Cheryl told me that the other turkey leg was sent with us.

A good time was had by all.

Cheryl and I are going over to her sister's home.

Her sister Pat is a phenomenal cook, and they are supplying most of the food.

Usually, Thanksgiving is at our home (for the relatives), but this year, it's their turn.

We share the cooking with some friends who live 10 minutes away - small group of 8-10 people and lots of good food.

My favorite thing about Thanksgiving is the leftovers.

I'm really family oriented, so I really love Thanksgiving with the family. I spend lunch with my husband's family, and dinner with mine. This question is getting me excited for Thanksgiving now, but I love everything about it. I look forward to the family time, the food, the relaxing while playing games, the kids being around their family and relatives. Then the next morning, we sleep in. I don't do Black Friday sales early in the morning, because I'm all tired out from all the holiday fun with the kids and family. If I go shopping the Friday after it's whenever I decide to wake up and leave the house, if I decide to. We also start Christmas decorating Thanksgiving night, to keep us excited through the holidays.
