Hey, first of all I want to thank you guys for tolerating my threads about working out and keeping healthy. It is really cathartic for me.

But Kay, if you think it is too much you can just just delete ( or disapprove) of this Thread. I will completely understand.

But Iam stuck at 215 lbs. I know the culprit too. Getting up in the middle of the night and pigging out.

I just cannot seem to resist. Anyway, do some of you have some psychological techniques I can use to quit doing this crap ??

Thanks,
Robert

6 ft. And not to toot my own horn but have a lot of muscularity. Just centers around my abdomen area. My goal is 200 lbs to 205 lbs.

Was 258 1.5 years ago. So have trimmed down. It's just those last 10 or 15 pounds that are so tough.

Its all in my head with eating at night. I go to sleep around 10 pm. Wake up aroud 12 or 1am and just say "what the hell" I 've got the munchies and will just run it off the next morning.

Before I go to bed I promise myself to abstain but when I wake up it's a different story

You poor baby. You weight 215 pounds? My legs weigh more than that.

What Kay said. I used to have ice cream at night. Now, I stick to a glass of V8, or an apple. Why? I don't really enjoy the apple or the V8. But I feel like I ate something.

If you run, I'd just use small lightweight dumbbells. 5 pounds each is plenty. Holding them when you run actually works your stomach more than anything. It's a great way to trim.

What is the normal time you eat dinner or the last meal of the day. And are you checking your sugar you might have low blood sugar or be going through a sugar crash.

Eat more fiber at dinner or add a couple tablespoons of ground flaxseed to something at dinner and drink fluids .

The research on flaxseed right now makes it safe to recommend

What if you manage your food storage so the only available munchies are stuff like carrot and cucumber sticks, saltine crackers, cheese, hard candies, celery sticks already stuffed with peanut butter or cream cheese, etc.

Have you tried eating a substantial healthy snack before going to bed?

I keep getting those unwanted text messages promising me 'you can lose 36 lbs in 2 weeks'.....at which point I would weigh 90 lbs Want me to tell them to send the texts to you instead?

Drink as much water throughout the day as you humanly can. My guess in you've conditioned yourself to confuse thirst with hunger.

When I'm going strong, I drink a gallon to gallon and a half of plain water throughout the day and experience very little hunger.

And yes, you'll urinate quite a bit for the first few days until your bladder adjusts.

I think I might be going with Dan on this one. I am a nervous enter by nature; in other wards when I'm watching something , or get bored, or get uptight about something I feel like I have to have something in my hands and consuming it.

Water just might be that solution

Water and those large mints, (US probably has something like it). When l am driving down to get a coffee and cake, and feel hungry l chew on one of those, and feel almost full for a short while, and have enough energy to get to where l am going.

Not sure about the water idea, l almost consumed an entire Frosty drink yesterday when watching Spidy, and 2.30 hours later couldn't wait to leave.

One difference is a change in temperature or air pressure.

Going into an air conditioned room after being outside in the heat will make you want to pee.

When I used to sell in people's homes, they either had the heat or air conditioning on.

The moment I went outside to leave, I had to pee badly. I think it's a normal reaction.

Oook, No, Claude l went to the toilet just before going into the theature, and sat down, then about a few seconds later the curtains started moving apart, and then it started.

The room was nice and cool initially, but as always they tend to slack off when it is close to ending.

And the dragged out scenes, where spidy tells his girlfriend that he is her father, or whatever it was, l just wanted to slap them about and say, "yeah, get on with it, or at least fight something".

But it was worth it to get out of the heat, and try out my new, Plastic straw, which l pulled off a water bottle, (plastic straws are forbidden in our tree hugging nutcase state, so worth it).

PS l know you guys sell the Slurpy straws in your 7/11 stores, but they are a buck each, if l ordered it.

And summer would be over if l got some from China.

Try BOOST before bed? The added slow burn protein right before bed will put your body into burn mode - and you might not get up in the middle of the night.

The other option is to simply watch what you are eating... protein protein protein.

Hi Robert, I have recently lost 60lbs and put on about 10 lbs of muscle (doesn't look as good as it sounds, haha!). Two things have helped me the most:

    1) cut down/out on sugar. Sugar makes your body feel hungry when it isnt.
    2) Eat more protein and/or fibrous veggies. My go two is celery sticks with peanut butter. It will keep you feeling fuller, longer. And you can eat before bedtime - despite what stupid diet things on the internet say.

As one caveat- I became a vegan. I am healthier, stronger, and in better shape at 42 than I ever was at 20.

I can relate on so many levels man I too struggled with food addiction , I would eat whether I were happy or sad didn't matter which mood I were in but I came to the realization that if I didn't alter my bad habits soon I wouldn't enjoy the finer things an life such as growing old whilst still being healthy being able to be there for my future kids , having high self esteem !! Bro it just boils down to how bad you want it you must develop dyer need within you to want too change and create that dream look you've always desired !!! just think of it this way if you sacrifice the bad eating now you can enjoys the perks of a healthy life style later !!

Absolutely agree with this !! It all comes down to how much I really want it. I can abstain from the munchies but just get 'lazy' in my attitude so I give in.

Thanks for posting this sense I moved I have not been able to get flaxseed. But I have lost quite a bit of fat in the last six weeks wandering around on foot learning my way around Tampa.

So I did shopping today and got food spices and ground flaxseed and apple cider vinegar. Cups of intstant oatmeal and instant mashed potatoes. And packets of lemonade to add to water bottles.

So I add the apple cider vinegar to the lemonade which you really need to get used to it and then add the flaxseed to the instant potato as well as lots of extra seasoning.

Need to drink plenty of fluid with the flaxseed because it absorbs water and expands in you digestive system helping you stay full for longer. But it's a learn your limit addition. Like the cider vinegar.

Any if your goal is 200 and it takes a year to lose the rest of the weight but you develop permanent lifestyle changes to keep your weight at that and not put 40 pounds on if you hurt yourself and can't exercise. Which is a common occurrence.

Learn to adjust your eating based on activity level. And come to think of it could your munchies be a way for your body to carb load for your morning run.

So your food is digested and your energy reserves filled up.

It's tough and the only advice which I can give you is to elaborate a complex approach. You should combine therapists, nutritionist, gym (any kind of exercising) and calorie deficit. You are pigging out in the night, because you have mental health issues and the classical - eating disorder.
It's not bad, basically, all people can face this disorder even if they don't have extra weight. Just think about it. If you don't want to start losing weight, maybe this idea is for nothing?

It seems like you have been given a lot of good ideas.
I had weight loss surgery back in 2008. They removed 3/4 of my stomach.

It was absolutely incredible because I lost 35 kgs in 2 weeks.
Mind you, for the first week, you live on sips of water. You would take all day to drink a glass-full. I also sucked on ice chips.

Over the first couple of months I was able to start eating very soft foods and in tiny quantities. For example: 1 scrambled egg would over-fill me. I think I could have mashed potato. I started blending a few veggies so I could drink them.

After about six months, I could have whatever I wanted BUT still small meals.
A 95 gram tin of tuna would almost be 2 meals.

Today my tummy has stretched a bit so I can eat more, but only in small to medium-size meals and snacks. I was advised to drink a glass of water before each main meal to make me eat even less, while keeping me hydrated.

I usually have 6 "meals" a day = breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, and always something before bed. Occasionally I have to get up during the night and have a snack.

You should listen to your body. Have a snack before bed as that should help stop you wanting to get up and eat.

Sorry for being long-winded but I hope this helps a bit.
