Greetings All,

Just wanted to pop in and say hello and announce my official retirement coming up. While I have bounced back from my health issues from last year, it has been 9 months and I'm still not 100%. That said, I'm feeling great. I am walking without a cane, finally, and no longer have to use one of those electric carts at the supermarket. Let me tell you, that was a saddening and degrading experience.

I have been working hard at foisting my clients off on others and hope to have that process completed in time to enjoy the retirement gift that I have purchased as a reward for decades of hard work, It should arrive in mid-May and I should be ready to padlock the doors by then.

I'll be 74 this year and honestly feel that I've worked long enough. Even through my illness, the past year has been the most financially rewarding as I have ever had. I possess everything I have ever wanted. I certainly have everything I need and enough cash to get me through the rest of my life. I'm not expecting a whole lot of years in front of me. lol

Looking forward to spending a lot more time at the animal sanctuary as opposed to sitting at a desk. I think this will be good for my health, both mental and physical.

Here is a picture of the car I have ordered. It's a 2022 BMW Z4 M40i. An amazing beast of a machine. I'm hoping to hit as many NHL arenas around the country as I can when the next season starts. That's always been a dream of mine.

Cheers. - Big Frank

P.S. This is a picture of the car I have on order. It belongs to an acquaintance of mine. Mine is exactly like his, but I might swap out the black wheels, which I thoroughly hate. lol

You've been telling me that since I've known you - you've got more 'bounce back' in you than most people. Glad you are doing better.

That's a gorgeous car....now you got to last till it's delivered...

Still fighting the good fight, I don't know any other way.

Thanks for that. lol I'm hoping for at least 3 good years beyond that. :-)

Anything to get me out of the house. They'll carry me to the car if they have to. That's practically what they had to do this past summer. Getting in and out was a struggle, but once they got me in it, I could drive for hours and I did. :-)

Wishing you a long and happy retirement.

    My Friend;
I've learned quite a lot from you, and really enjoy our conversations

I had no idea you were 74.

It's good to hear that you are doing better. I know you'll make the most of being forced to live in luxury, driving a chick magnet car.

    You poor man.

When I retire, I'll give you my new phone number so we can trade lies about our conquests.

    You're my favorite person here.

Probably. I won't know what to do with myself once I store the car until next spring.

Frank, of course we will need documented proof of this being your official retirement. Until we know for sure and have date stamped regular photo's of you sitting in your home day after day watching TV and twiddling your thumbs or knitting (aside from the occasional drive) we will remain skeptical

Having been retired for well over a year now, it is a hard adjustment. Having no commitments at all after working daily it comes as a real shock to the system. Believe me, I went through this. I still feel a bit mentally ill over this. I hope you fare better. Get out and about at least once a day. You have a dog so at least walkies is a commitment and a therapeutic companion. I'm glad your health has improved. You are amazingly resilient.

Added: I noticed you said about visiting the animal sanctuary on a regular basis, that good, but don't let them force you to muck out the Hamsters if you don't feel up to it.

A nice BMW, and it's red. Cool color.

And now... drum roll...my Apple Joke.

Which would you prefer? A note from my drug dealer or the hooker of the week?

I have the animal sanctuary to attend to. That will keep me busy.

Unfortunately, I had to put Honey up for adoption in September. I was simply unable to care for her and although friends and neighbors attempted to make her life bearable, it was really bad on her. She had to stop going to daycare. After a week or so of that, I boarded her there so she could be with her furry friends every day. A good friend found a fantastic home for her. She is loved and well cared for and although my grief is profound and unabating, I am so happy for her that I can't put it into words. She is the most loving creature and provided me with more love and companionship than anyone could ever hope for. I wear my sadness like a badge of honor knowing that I made the most unselfish decision of my entire life. There's another dog in her new family, so I know that she couldn't be happier. They send me pics and videos, but I can hardly do more than glance at them. I'm tired of crying.

I'm glad your health has improved.
      Thank you. :-)

Look at the pics and videos and KNOW how happy she is - know you did the right thing and she's once more in a place where she is loved and gets loads of attention. So few dogs of Honey's breed have a loving family - and that she now has a second family is a tribute to how you raised her. Allow yourself to feel GOOD knowing you did the best thing for her.

Frank, I totally relate to health challenges. Sadly, my health is going downhill, instead of up, like yours, and I am 16 years younger than you.
I am hoping that a cortisone injection in my lower back will help me walk without pain and that surgery helps me get back up and fight once more.

In the meanwhile, I wish you all the best in retirement. I know a lot of retirees and the common theme is that they are busier than ever and don't know how they fitted work in.

I envy you having plenty of $$ but I know you worked hard for it.

Wow! That's a bummer and am very sorry to hear that. I live on cortisone shots. I get gout attacks, regularly and I have RA. Those shots work wonders. I hope you get the relief you need.

Many people have told me that I had the best playlist ever. Of course, that depends on one's taste in music. They mostly appreciated that I never played any 'head-banger' music or 'death-metal.' No melody - no harmony - no playee!

Unfortunately, Spotify has all but killed most Internet radio stations. I used to have upwards of 250 listeners on any given day, That may not sound like many, but for Internet radio, that's Howard Stern territory. Now - - - - I'd be lucky to get 25 listeners. My ego demands more. Radio is just one more thing that I am retiring from.

Good to see you interjecting again, it's been a month or so now. How are you coping with the lack of responsibilities so far. The vacation time of a few weeks (a symbolic I feel like I'm on vacation, that's what it felt like to me) is now over.

Are you keeping busy, any thoughts on a new dog etc?

    How does it feel?

Hi. I'm doing OK. I have probably cut my responsibilities around 75% so far and I'm OK with it. Much better than any previous attempt. The calm is consistent, so far and I think that as the warm weather approaches and the new car arrives, I'll be fine and will probably cut another 10% by then.

      Are you keeping busy,
I'm keeping one client that is too lucrative on a monthly basis to ever give up. Been with me for almost 7 years and whenever I tried to cut him loose in the past, he would first cry and then threaten. lol We've become good friends, so there's that, too. His account alone more than pays for the car. Way more, actually, so . . . . . . .

Starting one small offline project to make a little money for the animal sanctuary. Food is not getting cheaper with each passing month. That's it though. I want to see how many miles I can put on the new Bimmer. It has finished production and is sitting on the dock waiting to be loaded onto a ship. Very exciting.

any thoughts on a new dog etc?
Nope. No more potential pain being added to my life. They're great until they die. Once was enough for me to handle. I truly believe that I wouldn't survive going through that, again. There's nothing I would love more, but I just can't bring myself to do it. Granted, I'll probably die first, but putting Honey up for adoption was one of the most traumatic events of my life and at the risk of anthropomorphizing, I doubt that it was any less confusing and sad for her. I get that in the end, it all worked out as best that it could, but that doesn't make the experience any less soul-crushing. I lovingly cared for two rescued Pit Bulls for over 20 years I think I've done my bit, especially considering that for the last 5 years, I could barely take care of myself. Every time I see a dog I cry. Living without one is not living at all, but sometimes the universe is just a heartless, rotten bitch. This is one of those times. Sad!

I'll be popping in from time to time. I go in to get my pacemaker/defibrillator replaced next month. Almost 10 years on that battery. My cardiologist admitted that never thought THAT would happen. He doesn't know how I do it. I told him that I'll slip a note with my secret into his coffin. :-)

      Take care.

      Big Frank

My sister retired after my father died a few years back (she was his caregiver) and we both got money from his estate so I retired too. She bought a house on an island off the south coast of the UK called the Isle of Wight and has a flat from our home town to sell which probably will cover most of her purchase.

She told me, no more relationships or marriage for her, not a good track record. She has just a few friends.

She bought a Cockerpoo puppy dog, pure bred and expensive. They are not large dogs but get bigger than your average Schnauzer. It gets her out of the house to exercise and take a walk on the beach, is a good companion for her, she has trained it and it responds well and very attentive. They have a daily routine etc.

So, ever considered a smaller dog or pet that is not too demanding? I have always had cat's but perhaps your thoughts on them are not too favorable, lol. This was my sisters first foray into owning a dog.

It's not the demanding part that bothers me. It's the dying or needing to be put up for adoption part that bothers me. Twice is enough. I'll pass. :-)

"The Apple Head Chihuahua is the world's tiniest dog breed that only weighs up to 6 pounds when fully grown, as a standard. But some are known to grow as large as 8 pounds. Although breed standards do not specify a height, they typically grow to between 6 and 9 inches tall."

You have to put Ipads down until it is house trained

No, Mark l was talking about the ones where you put batteries in and it has an electronic broken neck type lobotomy when its batteries die, or it cannot get back to the charging station in time, (sometimes done on purpose for the sheer entertainment value).

Not sure if Big Frank could handle recurring death and life type pets,...on the other hand?

You could adopt a Rifflegnome. A Very small and compact breed that comes already house trained. No need to worry about rehousing it should you pass either as no one gives a crap about them

Thank you, Adam. You must be fairly new here. Everyone knows that I love no one other than myself. I love myself so much there's simply nothing left for anyone else.

      perhaps pursuing your hobbies.

I shall strive to do my best. Just received word that it has officially arrived at the dock. Let's get that puppy on a big boat.

      Thanks for your kind words.

      Cheers,

Damn... You are a real hero. If you have devoted so much time to the profession and finally retired. I am sincerely glad that you have handled this tough path and nowadays you can relax without any second thoughts. It's a dream of all of us, especially when we can also afford yourself a dream. You did good I am sure.

Hope you will stay safe and you will be happy every day, cheers!

    Hey Frank,

Can I come retire at your animal sanctuary? I don't eat much and am fairly easy to clean up after.

I don't understand why but no one else will take me. I have such a sunny disposition.

FYI I've had all my shots.

For me retirement sucks. I hear a lot of people wish they could just lay around all day and do nothing...my idea of hell.

RIP... I mean enjoy your retirement.

I don't know how old you are "killer" can I call you that for short, but from your mid 50's onwards you do start to slow down a little. You have to make a real effort to remain fit and healthy and strong, And when you get to your mid 60's (where I am) you really feel it and it's difficult to keep it at bay.

The motivation to do what you did in earlier years does wane, you do tend to lose interest (it's a mental as well as physical thing) and sitting around does become more desirable. Things that you would jump on and do immediately in younger years become more of a chore. It's a struggle to keep on top of things like you used too.

You think, well that will never happen to me, but, trust me, it will. Frank went on far longer than most do.
