If anyone is interested, tonight on the History Channel is airing a show about the Shackleton Endurance. Which was discovered March 2022.

"From the moment Ernest Shackleton and his crew aboard the British expedition ship, HMS Endurance had become immobilized in Antarctica's ice 10 months earlier, they had been preparing for this moment. Now, those on board removed their last remaining belongings from the ship and set up camp on the ice. Twenty-five days later, what remained of the wreck convulsed once more, and the Endurance disappeared beneath the ice.....

WATCH: Ernest Shackleton's lost ice ship found! Don't miss Shackleton's Endurance: The Lost Ice Ship Found. Premieres Tuesday, March 22 at 10/9c.

Incredibly, all 27 men under Shackleton's command would survive the grueling Antarctic expedition, but their ship remained sunk and lost to history--until 106 years later." https://www.history.com/news/shackle...rance-survival

Some information if from the New York Times

"It was the afternoon of March 5. Mr. Bound was traveling aboard an icebreaker in the Weddell Sea in Antarctica with the Endurance22 expedition, which was hunting for the century-old remains of Ernest Shackleton's ship Endurance.

Technicians had been running an undersea drone day and night for two weeks, scanning the seafloor with sonar looking for the 144-foot wooden ship, which was crushed in the Weddell's treacherous pack ice and sank in 1915 during Shackleton's ill-fated attempt to be the first to cross Antarctica."

From pics, looks like it was very well preserved. Almost a time capsule.

Indeed they did. But records show how Shackleton commanded the guys to still all warmin' flame so they could figure trooly the magnitood of the task before them.

"If we ignite braziers here," he said to the boys, "we might burn our very beards. Or worse. As we dance here freely before our prize."

I would love so for Benedict Cumberbatch to play the guy in a movie.

"I shackle more than a ton," he says, as his hot breath turns to frost. "Are you guys with me on this colossal adventure?"

        Natchrlly they yawp all reflex.

I love so also how Tacklesssohhn (the rival explorah guy) screams at the enda the movie when Cumberbatch's left boot is the only recovrable item from the clearly doomed mission, "that boy was my sneaky, snoopsy puppy."

How the applause from the Oscah ceremony destroys your ear areah!

This is where I show, lookin' sumptyouous as I can mustah.

Tellya, this ain't desperation -- it is DREAMIN'.

What YOU call a cellphone, I call a QUIT MY LIPS GOWIN' MWAH MWAH MWAH ALL THE TIME FOR MY BELOVED BENEDICT kinda thing, an' I am slappin' it up 'gainst musself 24/7 like no repentent nun.

Actschwlly, can I play a repentent nun in the next Cumberbatch movie?

It is time we had a sci-fi heist style thrillah feachrin' a gal who loves to dangle her beads.

A nekkid swimmin' scene is mandatory, so I guess this rules out Tarantino as a directah bcs I would nevah trust him with no kinda boobies afloat narrative.

Naht his fault, you understand, but if'n this movie gonna happen I would wish to be pernickety thusly.

*loses consciousness for like 7 minutes*

Oh ... my dear, sweet Benedict ... in this shacklesy movie we gaht gowin' down togethah ... may I suggest we be ... pernickety thusly?

Those are my terms for movie history till 2030.

Shackleton's expedition was mentioned in a book I read a few weeks ago. "The Arctic Fury" uses a real woman's search for her husband lost in the Arctic as the basis for fiction about a women's expedition to find him. The Shackleton group was mentioned because they survived... which was rare.

Interesting sounding book. Wonder how many people up on them when they did not show up after a few months.

The ship held up nice underwater after all these years it went down only a few years after the Titanic. Yet is in a lot better shape.

Sure Shackleton would of enjoyed staying warm with the Princess.

I read this book a few times before. The first time being in high school.

Different book - the one I referred to was published in 2020...it's purely fiction.
