    The greatest time of year.

Some people go to therapy. I watch football.

We bleed garnet and gold at my house. Go Seminoles!

I wait with much anticipation every year for this week. It's like a kid waiting for Christmas only about 15x worse!

I wish I was predisposed to have the looks of Burt Reynolds. But unfortunately I was not born with that

What an icon though. Sad to see his passing a few years ago.

I listen to the Rutgers games on the radio if I'm working in the house. Every Saturday night I will usually watch parts of the NCCA Game of the week, on ABC television. The fourth-quarter comebacks are always exciting.

Shock they won 22 -21! Was not paying attention to the game.

Walked into the house after 10:30 pm and turned on the Ohio State game, on ABC they were just kicking off with 4:51 left in the game approximately. Dan must be very Happy after beating Norte Dame 21-10

I'm gearing up for the game. Picked up a 12 pack of Royal Docks Backyard Crusher, got the burgers and brats ready for the grill, currently making a batch of Ale House sweet onion compote for the burgers. Made a batch of Hatch chili Pico de Gallo and a batch of chili last night.

I had a line on tickets but they fell through. Otherwise, I'd be in Cbus right now hanging out on High Street.

Mark , iam going to be brutally frank ... I will be rooting for the sec in this one as we'll play LSU the 8th of October. So I want them to be ranked when we play them.

I'm having to listen since I can't get ABC in Asia. We'll see what the progress really is for the Noles. There's a lot of excitement in Nole land but we gotta do it on the field and haven't in the last few years.

I believe the Seminole's pregame tradition of Chief Osceloa on Renegade with the flaming spear is the best/ultimate tradition in all of football.

However, I learned this weekend about the Hawkeye wave and it's one of the coolest, most touching things I have ever seen.

Watch the video and then do a little Googling to read more about it. It's awesome.

We have a big one tomorrow. Playing Pitt at Pitt on ABC 3:30 et.

This game is making me real nervous because everyone is predicting my Vols to win against a team that is ranked higher than us and has home field advantage. We will see. Just seems like fuel the fire for Pitt in beating us.

Looks like Dan's buckeyes have a sure bagger in tomorrow's game at 12 noon against Arkansas St. They dropped to no.3 on the polls which in all honestly is probably fair. I think Georgia is probably the best team in the land right now. But the Buckeyes and Bama will have a lot to say about that throughout the season.

Mark's Seminoles look to have a bye week and play next Friday the 16th at Louisville.

Finally, DWolfe's Scarlett Knights look to beat the Wagner Seahawks at home tomorrow for a 3pm et. game.

P.S. DWolfe I apologize if I have misspoke but you never really said that you were a Rutgers' fan. Just an assumption on my part. Again apologies if I am wrong about this

I would not say a diehard fan but do like to follow them to some extent. Was annoyed at the coach. When Greg Schiano made the University build a new stadium and move into the Big 10. After a decent season in the Big East. Then jumped ship to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Part of his salary deal at the time, now he is back.

Rutgers plays Iowa and as of yesterday, Rutgers had not announced who is going to start as Quarterback. On another note, they play Ohio State on October 1

I've been a huge NFL fan since live games started being shown in the UK in the mid 1980s, but there's little or no coverage of college football here.

How does the quality compare with the professional game? And if players are unpaid, where does the broadcasting and ticket sales revenue go? To the colleges?

    Forgive my limey ignorance.

Speaking for myself, I prefer college to the NFL. The traditions and pageantry make it a step above, especially if you're there in person. It sends chills down your spine. I can go anywhere in the US and shout O-H and somebody is going to give me an I-O back.

Speaking to quality of the game, every week there are absolute blowouts and instant classics. The games are more fun to watch than the pros. Further, the pros often dig into the college game for innovation.

Players are one step closer to getting paid. They can now license their images and likeness. Ohio State's quarterback just gave every player on the team (all 118 of them) $500 gift cards to buy suits for game days out of his contract with The Limited.

But yes, billions go to the schools and conferences. In return, the greatest players go on to make 100's of millions and the good ones several million. The others get a free education (and potentially CTE).

Agreed ! I live in Cowboy land and even the die hard Cowboy fans do not compare to the die hard fans in Knoxville or in Columbus for that matter.

It's a different more intense rabidness among the fan base in college football compared to the NFL, imho

It used to be very hard to drop a team off the top spot if they got a win no matter how badly they played. I guess those days are over.

Even though its hard, teams need to focus on the most important game of the season for them: the next one vs. getting all caught up in the rankings. And don't talk about anyone being "back" after one good showing. Being "back" takes several consistent weeks of high level play.

You rarely see the kind of upsets you did on Saturday - especially Texas A&M and Notre Dame. They talked about the App State win over Michigan several years ago for weeks. They still do. It's that big of a deal.

I love college football. For Frank, I'd rather watch two no name college teams go at it vs. watching the NFL. If I do follow the NFL, it's mostly to check on where my beloved Noles are and what they are doing today or reminiscing from my childhood. I've only attended one NFL game, the Bucs, about 38 years ago. So, there is a little love for them every once in a while, just because of that. I used to love the Cowboys as a kid. But I haven't sat through one single game of either of theirs just because college is where it's at for me.

Yes, yes, yes !! One reason I love college football. And how one big loss to a no
namer ( although App.St. is pretty dang good) can ruin a whole season.

Of course knowing it could happen to my own Vols can be rather humiliating. But that is the intensity and chaos that college football is...making it the best show in town. Hands down

ESPN Game day is in Knoxville tomorrow for the UT / Gators game. Iam getting psyched up for this one. The Gators have owned my Vols the last couple of decades. We have won like 2 out of the past 17 matchups with them. Still trying to figure out who will be the Guest "Picker" on Game Day tomorrow. I say either Kenny Chesney or Peyton Manning.

Anyway , Big 10 play opens up for Dan and his Buckeyes. They play the Badgers. Should be a good one but do not see the Buckeyes losing this one.

Mark's Noles play Boston college who lost to Dwolf's Rutgers team earlier this year. Iam going with the Noles all the way.

Good luck folks and remember to have fun as it's Saturday college football all day long

It's going to be a Black Out tomorrow night in Columbus, all black unis and all black in the crowd. It's a pretty cool sight.

We had a concert get rescheduled so I'll be watching the game on my phone whilst listening to some sweet jams with a large group of friends. I'd rather watch the game at home, but wives, man.

I feel you my man . Last year the girls had volleyball games every Saturday. This year all the games are on Mondays and Wednesday. So I get complete, uninterrupted college football the whole Saturday. (Unlike last year).

Get my big bag of Doritos and a giant sub from Jersey Mikes to nibble on all day and I'm good to go!!

Looks like the Noles cracked the top 25 deservedly so at 23rd. They should be ranked higher, imho.

Ohio St. remained 3rd place with a convincing win over Wisconsin.

My Vols moved to 8th after beating the Gators. Previously they were 11th.

Rutgers travels to play Ohio State this Saturday at 3:30 pm

The Odds makers according to Fan Nation predict Ohio State to win! Guess Dan will be happy after the game

"Don't lose any sleep over this one, Buckeye fans: the computer projects Ohio State has the comfortable 98.3 percent chance to win the game.

By contrast, Rutgers has the 1.7 percent shot to upset OSU.

The oddsmakers tend to agree, as Ohio State comes into the game as strong 41.5 point favorites, according to the line at SI Sportsbook, which set the over/under mark of 59.5 points.

Ohio State checks in at No. 2 on the index's 131 college football rankings, a jump of 1 spot over Georgia following Saturday's win over Wisconsin."

While it isn't likely, the Browns have shown that anything's possible on the gridiron.

That said, Ryan Day needs style points to move up in the polls, so I wouldn't be surprised if this one gets run up.

Just when you think you have the SEC figured out...
i.e. Georgia just barely escapes Missouri after being behind almost the whole game.

Georgia should move to 3rd and Ohio St. and Bama move up one

          Pretty big day tomorrow.

Dan's Buckeyes look to take the road against the Spartans. I do not think they will have much trouble against Michigan St. who have a mediocre team at best.

And Mark's Noles look to rebound against a tough NC St. Wolfpack team tomorrow night.
This should be a good one. The critics are overwhelming in picking NC State to win but I think the Noles will step it up and come away with an upset.

My Vols play at Baton Rouge against LSU. This will be a true test. Tough atmosphere and any kind of win for the Vols will be gladly taken.

Good luck to all and above anything else have fun in watching your teams play college football on a beautiful Fall Saturday

          Hey Dwolfe,
I watched the whole second half and I thought Rutgers would pull it out with a 13-0 lead.

That dang personal foul penalty where the Rutgers players twisted and threw the Cornhusker receiver out of bounds was costly.

But definitely a valiant game the Scarlet Knights played.

And I was quite impressed with the fan base you all have. Really cool. Love college football

We did not get the game on Television here. The stadium is nice only a few years old. Never stepped foot in the place but have driven by it. When Rutgers scores it is always exciting to watch the celebration, which results in the cannon being fired Rutgers is heading into the brutal part of the schedule for the next few games.

The local press condemn the coaching staff, especially Greg Schaino yesterday. They also criticized the penalty you were speaking about.

I caught part of the Clemson game when I got home last night. Then watched the last two minutes of the USC game. Today watch the full first half of the Giants vs Green Bay Packers in London. The giants came from behind at the half to win!

One big game college next week is Ohio State playing Michigan that should be an interesting game.

Glad to see your team beat Alabama. Watched the last few minutes in the 3quarter and all of the 4th quarter between Mark's teams and Clemson on ABC last night. Florida State was trailing by 20 points but rallied back but fell short. You have to give Jordon Travis the quarterback a lot of credit. He would not quit and took a lot of hits.

The only thing I was disappointed with was when Florida State went for a touchdown on 4th down with over 12 minutes remaining. They tried 3 times in a row to pass. Even though it does not matter at this point. I would of went for a field goal at 4th down.

Also watched the very end of the Oklahoma State vs TCU with about two minutes left in the game that went into overtime. I prefer College overtime vs the NFL's overtime rules. The final score was 43-40 with TCU pulling off the victory. It was very exciting watching the final minutes as both teams were putting up points, right up to the very last field goal.

Okay, it's another Saturday tomorrow full of football.

Dan's Buckeyes got kind of a tester on the road against Penn State. Happy Valley is a tough place to play at. But OSU is probably playing the best out of all the teams in the country. I say OSU wins by 21 points. The only reason why it's not more is that it is a road game.

Mark's Noles host Georgia Tech. I think the Noles should take this won by 2 tds.

Dwolfe's Scarlett Knights have a really tough one at Minnesota on the road. As usual I will be rooting for the Scarlet Knights.

My Vols play a tough Kentucky team. I will take any win whether it's one point or 24 points. UK is always tough and I expect no different in tomorrow's game.

I will be rooting for everyone's team to win tomorrow. Rutgers had made some changes to their offense before last week's game. Be interesting to see if the changes make a difference for the rest of the Season. Tomorrow's game should be a true test if things are an improvement.

So the Vols won yesterday and blew out Kentucky you must be smiling today. Looks like you have an interesting game next week against Georgia.

Rutgers got blown out, they had multiple dropped passes. The running back who had a great game last week is out for the Season. They started a 19 year old QB yesterday and late in the game he got injured. Heading to the bigger teams in the Big 10 they probably won't win again this Season. Next week is Michigan, the following week is Michigan State, followed by Penn State.

Speaking of Michigan watched a good portion of the game last night between Michigan State. Interestingly they have a Paul Bunyan Trophy that the winner receives at the end of the game. The following year it goes to whoever wins. Right after the game, it is passed from Michigan State to Michigan.

Next week will probably watch Alabama vs LSU as the game of the week on Saturday night on ABC

            Big day tomorrow.

Dan's Buckeyes go to Northwestern. They are 1-7 and I would be surprised if OSU does not cover the spread set at -38 pts.

Dwolfe's Scarlet Knights hosts the number 4 Wolverines. I know people say it will be a trounce but in the sport's world on any given day anything is possible so wishing Dwolfe the very best.

Mark has a HUGE intrastate rivalry as the Noles travel to Miami to face the hurricanes. The Hurricanes are struggling this year. They got manhandled by Duke a few weeks ago at their home field in Miami. I am taking the Noles by 2 TDs.

Lastly my Vols take on the no.3 (or no. 1 in Ap polls) GA. Bulldogs. Honestly, Iam just looking for a close game. And we just end up stealing it from the Dawgs. I pick us by 2 points.

That about covers it. Be sure to cheer on your team tomorrow and above all else have FUN

Hope you knock off Georgia and keep number 1 status. Same for Dan's and Mark's teams like to see them all win.

The head coach for the Scarlet Knights is realistic, he said no team has stop the Wolverine's offense this year from scoring. He just wants to stay in the game and have a chance to pull out a win. Fingers crossed we beat them. On another note, in 2014 Rutgers first, win in the Big 10 was against Michigan. Sadly we got crushed 78-0 in 2016.

Yeah Georgia just totally outplayed us. They shut Hooker down. They are definitely number 1. Very humbling for us. But the crazy thing is we are not out of the CFP picture.

Dan's Buckeyes will probably beat Michigan at end of year. And TCU is going to lose @ either Texas or @ Baylor.

So My prediction for final CFP rankings at end of season :
            1. Georgia
            2.Ohio State
            3. Tennessee
            4. Oregon

Rutgers played Michigan tough and for a second I thought Dwolf's Scarlet Knights might have the upset of the season. But wasn't meant to be.

Dan's Buckeyes had a scare against Northwestern. Very surprising but OSU will definitely stay in top 4... might flip flop with Michigan. Michigan being second and OSU being third and TCU being fourth.

Wow, Mark awesome win. A real beat down on those Hurricanes. You got to be mucho excited. Congrats !!

Oh well Iam tired , off to bed after a long day watching football

P.S. Great win by Irish and LSU. Clemson and Bama look to be out of the national picture

The 50 mph winds were problematic for a passing team, but the Bucks' lack of a running attack was of most concern. We were without Henderson, but the Buckeyes still should've dropped 30-35. This team must get healthy by the time they play TTUN.

Okay sports fans another Saturday is upon us tomorrow in college football land.

Dan's buckeyes host Indiana. I think the Buckeyes win by 5 touchdowns. I actually put down $20 that the Hoosiers would cover the +42 spread( I bought 1 1/2 pts). So we will see. Don't worry Dan I am still rooting for you guys as a cfp without OSU seems kind of like football blasphemy. I just like to have a little fun with the games and put some meager bets here and there to make them more entertaining.

Also, congrats to Mark for the Noles cracking the top 25 in the cfp polls. Well deserved.
You all have a tester at pesky Syracuse. I am taking the Noles by a td.

Finally, Dwolfe's Scarlet Knights go to Michigan State. Should be a good one. The Spartans are weaker this year than previous years. I would love to see an upset and Rutgers get that win. Good luck Dwolfe.

            That does it.

Oh yeah my Vols host Mizzou and are favored by 21 pts. They really need to gas the accelerator and cover that spread. I think TCU loses to Texas so we have an opportunity to slide into 4th place if we can take care of business with Mizzou. That's a big if though.

Thanks guys and good luck to everyone tomorrow

I just like to have a little fun with the games and put some meager bets here and there to make them more entertaining.
No worries. I might do the same. The Bucks need style points. If I take the points, it's a guaranty they'll win by 60.

Watched most of the TCU game last night. They are going to be a tough team to beat, in the final weeks. Even though TCUs QB dropped the ball late in the game giving up a score. They played hard nose football the entire game. Not sure how their remaining schedule is, but they are close to having an undefeated season. With a great chance to be in one of the bowl games.

Rutgers played a decent game the QB threw no interceptions and battled to the end. Looks like he has a good future in College Football. Just an FYI saw an article that said. People who bet on Michigan state to cover the spread loss.

Some interesting games are Washington vs Oregon with Washington winning 37- 34 pulling an upset. Alabama and Ole Miss went back and forth all night. Dan your Bucks are doing great.

Yeah TCU is for real. They beat a really good Texas team @ Texas. They shut down Texas and probably the top 2 running backs in the nation. They proved they deserved to be no. 4 in cfp. See if Baylor can beat them next week.

Dan's buckeyes kicked some major tail over the Hoosiers after a lackluster outing at Northwestern. They really look secure at no.2 which I know suits Dan just fine.

Noles put a beat down on Syracuse. I was surprised they won by that margin but I know Mark may not be. Good going, Mark !!

I didn't see any of the Rutgers game, Dwolfe. But the score was close and nearly went in your favor. Good , solid playing is what I get out of it.

My Vols won by 42 but not after having some early scares from Mizzou who made it close the first half. They just could not stop the man power we have in the second half.

Anyway, that does it here. Take care guys and look forward to the upcoming week in College football

Okay sports fans another saturday is upon us tomorrow in college football land.

Let's start off with Dan's Buckeyes going on the road against the Maryland Terrapins. I think Maryland is a little tougher that Indiana. But the Buckeyes should win by at least 3 touchdowns on the road.

Next we got Dwolfe's Scarlet Knights hosting Penn State. The Nittany Lions are 19 points favor. But you know what I like Rutgers fan base and their home field advantage so I am going out on a limb here and calling for the upset of the season as I just have a weird feeling about this. Good luck, Dwolfe

Finally, we have Mark's Noles who are hosting Louisiana. Do not see how they stay within two touchdowns of the Noles.
I am picking FSU by three TDs.

That does it, enjoy the day guys and good luck !!

P.S. My Vols go to South Carolina where they always play us tough. Just looking for a win on the road. Even by a point will be fine for me. But I think we take them by two TDs.

Okay since I started this Thread and have kept up with an ongoing synopsis of Warrior's teams Iam not going to stop just because I feel like shit after last night's game

so here is the run down :

Dan's Buckeyes narrowly escaped a tough Maryland team who tried to spoil their party and a potential CFP birth. But to no avail as the Buckeyes put them away when it counted. Sometimes championship teams win ugly and this just may be the case.

Mark's Noles won going away and beat my prediction by winning against Loiusisina by over 4 TDs.

And finally Dwolfe's team lost to a very good Penn State game. I was pulling for you guys, Dwolfe, but it just wasn't meant to be.

And we all know what happened to my Vols.

So that concludes the second to last week of the regular season in college football.
Here's to another great and exciting last week coming our way soon

Dan's Maryland refused to go down the 2nd half. Maybe Maryland chokes against Rutgers next week. A tough game like that can give the Bucks a new incentive to win next week. Kick Michigan a**!

Speaking of Spencer Rattler he was promoted as the Golden Boy for Oklahoma two years ago. Last year mid-season he was benched, because of Lackluster results. Did not know till last night he was still around. Read this morning that he did not have a big game till l yesterday. He looked like he did two years ago.

Watched most of the 2nd half in both games. Next week let's see everyone's teams win.

I think OSU will have a great chance of winning that game. Michigan may be overrated and I do not see how they win with over 100K buckeye fans screaming and hollering. But then again I thought my Vols would win convincingly over Souh Carolina. So you never know.

Last weekend of regular season for college football.

Right now Mark's Noles are up 38-24 going into the 4rth qtr. Looks like it's going to be a big win for you over the Gators , Mark

Tomorrow we have the game of the season with Dan's Buckeyes hosting Michigan. I think Michigan may be a little overrated , and I do not see OSU losing this one. I say they beat the spread and win by 2 TDs.

Finally, we have Dwolfe's Scarlet Knights against a scrapy Maryland team. Dwolfe, I am hoping for a BIG season signature win for you guys. Maybe the Terrapins are still gloating from the 'almost upset' of the Buckeyes last week, and you catch them napping and come away with the win. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Everyone enjoy the holiday weekend of college football. Peace out.

P.S. My Vols go up against the hottest team right now in SEC, Vanderbilt. With Hooker out , I will settle for any win. I say we go away with the win by a TD

The Buck's secondary is trash, but I didn't expect them to make McCarthy look like Peyton. However, I was mentally prepared for a loss. Having watched every second of the Buckeyes this year, I knew it wasn't their year. The D is too suspect and Stroud gets tight in stressful situations.

If we somehow back into the playoffs, we'll be one and done.

Rutgers got clobbered looked like the offense stayed home. Reading before they graded the coach as an "F" in several departments. The biggest thing is they were supposed to be Iowa and Nebraska. Which they failed to do. Plus this was the 3rd year in a rebuilding process and finished worse than last year. Waiting to see if the Alumni will put up with a losing record or call for the coach to be fired.

Ended up watching part of the SC vs Clemson game. Rattler had a good day and knocked off the #7 ranked team. Then later in the evening watched the final quarter between USC vs Norte Dame. Was impressed by Caleb Williams. Did not seem like N.D. knew how to stop him or sack him. USC goes on to play Utah this coming Friday at 8 pm.

Going to be interesting to see how the Bowl games shape up in the next few weeks.

                  Tough one, Dwolfe.

As far as OSU I think they have a legit shot in making the cfp. All it takes is TCU and USC to lose their conference championships, and I think you are good to go Dan.

                    It's certainly possible.

There's a growing consensus here in Ohio that Ryan Day should be on the hot seat. He's currently 2-4 against Michigan and the CFP combined (after inheriting a stacked roster). If they get in and he loses, 2-5 ain't gonna cut it. If they get in and lose to Michigan again (in a 1 and 4 scenario), he might just get outright fired.

The counter argument is that Day is something like 49-5 as tOSU's head coach. The counter to THAT is that you don't get paid millions at Ohio State to win 10-11 games per year. You get paid to beat Michigan, win Big Ten titles, and win Nattys. He's not getting that part done.

I know FSU has the same kind of standard. If you don't beat Miami, Florida, Clemson, win the ACC championship, and play for the national title, it doesn't matter much what your record is.

Willie Taggart basically got fired less than two years in for losing to Miami twice, after Jimbo left us in ruins for the big bucks in Texas.

You are definitely gonna have a tough one against Georgia, Dan. But remember this on any given day a team can beat any other team. And with CJ at QB anything is possible

He was so eccentric and quirky. It was said when he was younger in college he would call random people and have a complete conversation with them on the phone.

Mike Leach was asked a few years back about his obituary and what he would like to see written about him. It was asked by a CNN reporter, at the time. Mike jokingly says, what do I care they can write whatever they like. Not like I will be around to read it.

Then he gave someone proposal advice. He tells the person the best thing to do is do it over the phone. He says you won't have to worry about getting down on your knees, or messing up what to say. etc.

Did anybody watch any of the Liberty Bowl yesterday? Turned the game on with about 4 minutes left in the 4th quarter. Anybody that wonders what makes College games interesting got their answer last night. Arkansas was sitting on a 25-point lead during the second half. Kansas came back to tie the game up sending it into overtime. They played 3 overtime quarters before the game was finished.

The game should have ended during the second OT when the clock expired. However, a personal foul called for targeting sent it into the 3rd Ot. Multiple records were set on both sides of the field. The final score was 55-53. Not one person left their seat till the very end.

The Big games are still coming up this weekend. Looking forward to watching some of them. Good Luck to Ohio State or any of your favorite teams.

And the bowl with UNC and Oregon was really good too.

I'm rooting for Georgia in a blow out. Hear me out...

If Georgia beats TCU, especially in a blow out, there's a case, albeit a small one, for OSU to be ranked ahead of Michigan in the final rankings. I want just that little bit of satisfaction.

I don't follow pro football for the most part, but I've been reading every story that pops up about this horrific situation. I hope and pray he'll be okay. I've never seen anything like that in all my years of following the game. I know people faint, need CPR, and die every day but you normally can't see the TV replays and it's normally older folks or those with other health issues. This was a professional football player, though. So, you'd expect he was fit and healthy. His mom was in the stands and went with him to the hospital so that's a small blessing.

Puts football's importance in the grand scheme of things into perspective, doesn't it?

To me this game was a HUGE disappointment in what was otherwise a really awesome college football season ( I am sure if I was a Dawgs fan I would think differently).
The up and downs and seeing teams like LSU and TCU with big upsets and just a extremely satisfying season of sports.

When I was very young, the first chant I learned about football was. "Go to h___ Gators, go to h___." They were enemy #1. Then the 80s happened and in many Seminoles fans, hatred for Florida was bumped down by hatred of Miami. Now even during some down years, Miami is top of many of our lists. The top three places we hate, in some order or another, are Miami, Clemson, and Florida. For me personally, Miami is #1 and maybe the other two are tied or almost tied.

So, I hate the gators. However, sometimes it helps us if they win and today may be one of those cases. A stronger Florida in November, beaten by a stronger FSU team, would help us more compared to if UF has another down year.

Corso picked the Vols. It should be a good game!

Speaking of Corso, he had to look at his paper to remember where he lived when picking the Vols. He is a treasure and I love him (he's a Nole) but the cognitive decline is obvious. I hope he goes out on top instead of staying around and ruining his good name.

At a certain point, it almost becomes elder abuse to let them stay in a position too long. I would never push Lee out. But I'm afraid it's time for ESPN to look at helping him make the decision to make this year the last. And that makes me sad to even think it may be coming to an end. So many memories.

I think they're aware. I also think Mcafee is the heir apparent. He brings a similar energy, albeit a more modern version of it. I think this season is on the job training.

Sorry, it's called Football, not Soccer. You know, a game that is played principally with the feet, hence the word "Foot" being in it. How dare it be stolen like that.

It would be more accurate to call it American Rugby as it more closely resembles that game. Just as silly as Baseball having a "World Series" except the US is the only country that plays it.

We shouldn't be too harsh on the colonials. Remember that rugby is really called rugby football - and more than likely the first to use the term soccer (short for association football) as a pejorative term were the English snobs who played rugby in the posh schools.

American footballers don't want to get their nice clean boots all scuffed up by kicking the ball very often and even when they do it always goes over the crossbar.

Speaking of this thing called Baseball. Any place around the world that wants to put a league together then greases the palms of the NBL, probably could play in the World Series.

Slightly different note Cricket is becoming very popular in a few towns in my area. Due to the large numbers of people from India and other areas moving into the US. Should we inform them their sport is named after a bug....

Yeah next Saturday on the 8th I will completely miss the Vols-LSU game. Iam going 300 miles away to Dallas for the Texas state fair. My youngest one wanted to go so my wife decided we're going.

I will not be able to see the playback recording until that Tuesday of which I will already know of the score.

Much like Dan I can relate to the fam thing. But I do realize it's just a game as Iam sure he does too.

I've got several priorities that come before football - no questions asked. But I hate that saying and I hear it a lot.

I mean like it seems like it's been two years since we played last week. And I've got to plan my day around it. In my case, it'll be easy because it's live at 3:30 AM where I am. I can't even watch it, but I listen to the radio play-by-play and follow the ESPN game center page. My wife doesn't understand this obsession since they don't play it here.

I am absolutely positive that the cause of my death will be something broke loose that shouldn't have with all the yelling and table pounding. It'll probably happen one day when we're playing Miami. LOL

But yeah, it's just a game.

In a way( even though I used it above) I hate the saying too.
Mark, I think it is a coping mechanism that I use when Iam essentially doomed to miss watching a game that is beyond my control.

So I think that's why I use it for that reason alone.

Btw, you all have a relatively big one tomorrow against Wake. They're pretty tough.

Bama is suspect this year (at least for Bama they are). Maybe your boys can do the Country a favor this Saturday...

In fact, if they do, I'll send you a Buckeye care package.

Whatever it is Dan, a Buckeye care package sounds good to me. It will be interesting to see if Bryce Young suits up. If he does you might have to put that package on hold.

It was, until it wasn't. First 3 quarters was fun football...then the ghost of Woody Hayes showed up and scared the dickens out of the N. Lions.

Really, only challenge the Buckeyes have had this season.

They might not have had as tough a schedule as say my Vols but then again could we beat teams the margin they have beaten them if we played the same schedule ?? I am really not so sure we could , tbh.

I think the AP poll of putting OSU and UT tied for second is fair.

Well a wins a win and you guys poured it on when it mattered. I believe your man is going to win the Heisman. I just do not think Hooker or Bryce Young is playing quite to his level.

But if we win this Saturday at Georgia and Hooker has 400+ yards it could make it more complicated. That's a big "if" though.

  • Robert, you must be on cloud 9. I'm limited in what I can watch overseas but it looks like your Vols might be a legit NC contender.

then the ghost of Woody Hayes showed up and scared the dickens out of the N. Lions.
There at the end of his career, I was always afraid that Bobby Bowden would get frustrated and throw a punch or do something stupid. Do Buckeye fans hold the punch against Woody (ruined their feelings toward him) or do they mostly see it as a minor black eye on an otherwise legendary career?

Thanks Mark, I am excited but you're only as good as your next outing. And we have a tough one coming Saturday at GA.
The odds in Vegas are like Georgia by 8.5 points, so we will see.

Anyway, great win for you guys yesterday against Tech. You all have a legit shot of getting to that milestone of a 10 game season if you win out and get a bowl win. Beat Miami and then Syracuse and I think you can get there. Best of luck

Saw a video last night about a fight that took place in the tunnel after the game. Between Michigan and Michigan St. Jim Harbaugh wants criminal charges filed. From an article from today's Detroit Free Press - https://www.freep.com/story/sports/c...t/69606578007/

"Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh called the incident in the tunnel involving multiple Michigan State players fighting a Michigan football player "traumatic" for the program and said he expects criminal charges will be filed.

Shortly after Michigan's 29-7 victory over Michigan State, social media videos surfaced showing a number of MSU players pushing and shoving a Michigan player, identified as Ja'Den McBurrows. The video shows McBurrows was punched and kicked while on the ground.

A separate video appears to show a helmet was swung at Michigan defensive back Gemon Green. On Sunday night, MSU indefinitely suspended four players identified in the incident: Tank Brown, Khary Crump, Angelo Grose and Zion Young."

Dan, as much as I would like to say thank you I might have to defer. This was the worst case scenario for us going into Saturday's game against GA.

Tough loss, Robert. Georgia will jump to #1.

Bama looks beatable tonight, and I'm currently rooting for Notre Dame (don't tell my dad; a cardinal sin in my house) to beat Clemson.

    FSU looking good.

Added later: Rough day for the Top 6: Vols, Bama, and Clemson all take it on the chin. I took personal satisfaction in the Clemson loss.

That's a tired argument. In "England", rugby is actually called rugby football, which is then split into two codes: league and union.

  • Ours was closer than I wanted it to be 45-38. The Gators came to Tallahassee to play. Any win is a huge win over the Gators. Did I mention I hate the Gators? My first curse word slogan as a young boy was about them.

Good luck Don, Robert, and Dan. I don't know much about Rutgers but I know Vandy gave Florida their worst loss in a while. People don't lose to Vandy, that's just in the rules. Until this year. Tennessee better come with their best game and don't overlook them. OSU over Michigan easy.

Let's see how the next couple of weeks all play out. FSU won't be in the ACC championship game but if Clemson makes it to the top 4, we might play in the Orange bowl. I think we finally found our coach in Mike Norvell. He's turned things around big time.

Mark, regardless you have shown that you belong in the elite 10. Very impressive. You all really had a great chance of being 11-1.

Matter of fact if you were playing against Wake, Clumson, and the wolf pack the way you are playing today you all would be in the CFP.

  • Some of the bowl projections even Saturday had us playing people in places that would do zero for our transition, momentum, and recruiting. Who wants to watch FSU and Minnesota?

But Oklahoma in Orlando I can accept even though they are 6-6. They are a name and they have had our number for forever. We owe them big time. LOL

    Mark

Robert, earlier you talked about getting to the standards of places like OSU and FSU one day. The expectations are extremely difficult for any team to live up to consistently. See me above talking a little down about playing a 6-6 team when we've been in the dumpster fire for a few years. LOL There are FSU fans that are fighting mad at this situation when we haven't even gone to a bowl in 3 years.

But Oklahoma in Orlando I can accept even though they are 6-6. They are a name and they have had our number for forever. We owe them big time. LOL

      Cheez-It Bowl - Thu • Dec 29 • 5:30 PM

No. 13 Florida State vs. Oklahoma

      ESPN
Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida

" ORLANDO -- The Florida State Seminoles will meet the Oklahoma Sooners in the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl, Florida Citrus Sports chairman Paul Mears III and CEO Steve Hogan announced Sunday.

The game will kick off at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, at Camping World Stadium and will be televised nationally by ESPN. Florida State and Oklahoma have met seven times previously, with the Sooners claiming six wins, including a victory in the 2001 BCS Championship Game in Miami. The teams most recently met in 2011 in Tallahassee.

Florida State has made three previous Cheez-It Bowl appearances, with the most recent coming in 2011 against Notre Dame. The Seminoles also won the 2008 Champs Sports Bowl over Wisconsin and won the inaugural Cheez-It Bowl, known then as the Blockbuster Bowl, in Miami in 1990. Florida State also made an Orlando bowl appearance in the Tangerine Bowl in 1977 -- Bobby Bowden's first bowl win as head coach in Tallahassee.

Oklahoma's only previous Cheez-It Bowl appearance came in the 2011 edition of the game, known then as the Russell Athletic Bow " Source - https://cheezitbowl.com/florida-stat...cheez-it-bowl/

I don't know how Saturday night is going to go, but I'll probably be drinking heavily either way.

My beloved Gophers finished the season 9 - 4 after beating Syracuse 28 - 20 in the Pinstripe bowl.

Man there were some fun games this year!

Congrats, everybody. Glad to see a few victories in here.

We're just about to head out to a party for the game (the hosts are calling it a New Years Eve party, but we all know the truth...).

If the Bucks win, there may be some drunk posting later tonight. If they lose...I might not be suitable for conversation for a few days.

Be good. Be merry. Drink much. Be safe.

OSU had it. Just bad time management and play calling to get it closer in for a field goal. A few runs by CJ and they win with a chip shot

      Damn !!!

  • Robert, I've been pretty tied up lately and so never got around to congratulating you and your Vols for their huge win. You guys are going to be force to be reckoned with in 2023. Maybe a rematch of the 1999 Fiesta bowl is in order?

Dan, I know it hurts but y'all have been a force (more than usual) the last few years so I expect OSU will be back in prime shape for next year.

Yes, I am sorry to forget to congratulate Dan on a heck of a season. As Mark says it hurts and I do not doubt that but you guys were big under dogs and needed just a few yards away from taking it to the Final.

OSU will be back next year in the CFP, my prediction.

The culmination of a great season of college football comes to a pinnacle in a little over two hours.

        I am predicting a TCU victory 28-24.

You guys have any thoughts ??

Before the game started, I wrote that I only see two scenarios: TCU wins by a score or less OR Georgian humiliates them. Then I erased it and didn't post.

Looks like I was right. In a way, I hate to see blowouts in championship games, though. I want to see a good football game by supposedly the best two teams. On the other hand, if it was FSU and Georgia, I would have the starters and full playbook in the game no matter the score until 0:00.

Difference is a lot of people say TCU is a one hit wonder and definitely not a blue blood so maybe TCU has a sense of being the underdog and it's hard not to root for the underdog sometimes just because they are the underdog.

      Go Bucks!

Although, this is based on winning percentage. I believe TTUN has the most wins overall.
