Pipe burst upstairs, you should have seen it, water coming down walls, through light fittings and sprinkler outlets. Most Electronics salvaged but I suspect a few casualties. Bummer

Call Servpro and your Insurance Company to get it cleaned up properly. That sucks when you get flooded. Your horoscope calls for sheetrock, tape, spackling, and painting in your future.

Just a FYI, I never used them, but have plenty of flood damage experience.

Servopro is excellent. They are my customer and I theirs. I had the unfortunate need of their services when a pipe burst in a home I was selling but not living in at the time. What a disaster, but they took care of everything and did a quick, efficient job.

That said, Mark rents. The landlord should take care of everything. Mark's renter's insurance should cover personal effects.

In my State any low lying areas are getting flooded out. Thankfully l live on a hill as does the local shopping center, although yesterday with torrential rain l felt like l was in a car wash and river.

Mark, I am so sorry that happened to you. It sounds like Servepro is the route to go.

    Best of luck

  • Keep us updated.

We had a flood a week after we bought our home.

Servpro and State Farm insurance took care of everything. A week or so later, everything was as good as new.

I hope your experience is as good.

i have just got out of hospital, in for 7 days. i got a cut on my right toe, never healed properly, and swelled up to 3 times the size, infected the bone and i had to have it amputated. i was also diagnosed a type 2 diabetic. not a grain of sugar has passed my lips since then.staying with a friend

Rental still to be sorted they have done nothing to my place last time i looked. not a good time for me, however, even without the toe, my balance is good, and the site which still has the stiches in is healing well and does not hurt, just the neuropathy in both feet, but it seems to be lessening since i cut out the sugar so might be a side effect of the diabetes.

bear with me, hoping to resume normal sarcasm asap.

      Hope you are all well

I was starting to wonder if you were okay. Seven days is a long stretch. Glad to hear you're getting better.

I assume you're joking. Is any of that true?

I know this will get me a lashing from Riffle, but I really hope you're just playing with us.

          No, Claude l Googled it....

What does tingling in the foot indicate?

In such cases, tingling may be a sign of nerve damage, which can result from causes as varied as traumatic injuries or repetitive stress injuries, bacterial or viral infections, toxic exposures, and systemic diseases such as diabetes
But since Mark hasn't touched any sugar for a while most likely other factors are at work.

We haven't heard from Laurence for a while either hope he is recovering well.

I will let Riffle have first dibs, (had a hellish two weeks, with my OS seizing up and having to replace my Laptop HDD with a SSD one and reboot the OS from a mirror) but it was safe and effective to coin a cliche ridden,. term.

No playing, all true. just been the victim of unfortunate circumstances. life sometimes deals these hard blows close together.

Thanks frank, currently working off a windows tablet I bought, excuse the Grammer.

Nightmare time for me, hospital food was good but having tubes in your arm for 7 days delivering saline, antibiotics and insulin plus nurses coming in to check you vitals every three hours quickly got old. Stupid of me to ignore the cut, just put cream on it. My appetite had dwindled shortly before admission had dwindled to nothing, its come back now though no more choccy bars for me.except sugar free

Considering that just about everyone in the US is diabetic I'm surprised at the lack of diversity of diabetic prepared foods over here.

Check out 'prepared diabetic foods - there are quite a few 'delivery options'. Also a lot of recipes/advice/etc if you are 'cooking for diabetic'.

It's new an unexpected so it probably seems there is not support on the food level but I think once you dig into it you'll find quite a few options. Amazon has a LOAD of 'easy diabetic recipe' books.

life sometimes deals these hard blows close together.
Seems that way sometimes - life knocks you down and then kicks whenever you try to get back up. I have a tshirt that says 'I think my fairy godmother drinks'.....to wear on days like that.

Once the reality sets in you may find there's more info about eating and what you should/shouldn't do than you realize. Mainly BECAUSE so many in the USA are diabetic.

The bright side - you have TIME to learn your new diet parameters and even time to learn to cook accordingly - and also have the ability to order in if you choose to.

No more chocolate would break my heart...but you do what you gotta do. Take care of you.

I just called my rental complex, apparently they finally got around. To replacing the skirting boards and repainting, so tomorrow I'm going round there to direct my furniture placement

Things are looking up at Last.

Well appt looking good, unfortunately my Car had been towed away in the interim, been sitting out for two years. One thing after another, like not having my birth certificate I need to sign up with Medicare, to get a replacement if not found is a nightmare to get in the UK.

Mark, I am pre diabetic. But I can honestly say that exercising 6 days out of the week has kept me from being full blown diabetic.

I don't know your situation but diabetes can be easily controlled with a little bit of effort. It's just a matter of how much do you value your health ?? I have a feeling that you do value it and this is just a small obstacle in your way.

Eat smart and stay away from carbs and exercise whenever you can and you will be good to go.

    The best,
    Robert
