Just off the top of my head I would have to say The Shawshank Redemption, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, and The Wizard of Oz.

You ??

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

Circumference of Doom 3: "The Final Insult" was better in my opinion, more well rounded.

I would have thought The Wizard Of Oz would be your top choice too because some of your ancestors were in it.

I like "A Matter Of Life And Death", "The Edge Of Tomorrow", "The Matrix", "2001 A Space Odyssey", "Brainstorm", "Everything, Everywhere, All At Once" Currently. My tastes shift from year to year.

Circumference of Doom 4, " I Swear that This is the Last One, Don't Hit Me"!

Was the best of the best, the cinemas where packed, but they still managed to play the movie in-between renovations!

Best movies Shawshank, the first three Star Wars movies 2001, Avatar, and that part in Avator two where the star ships are putting on the brakes.

You know, my original post got deleted. Then I received a DM stating my post was approved. Very strange.

OK, I have to admit. That was really good. I couldn't wait to tell my wife. And she laughed too.

Right now, Mark and Dan are both wishing they said it.

The Ballad of Cable Hogue. Jason Robards, Stella Stevens, Strother Martin, David Warner and Slim and Easy Pickens. For a Sam Peckinpah (the original violent Quentin Taratino type director) movie, limited violence and a story well told with good acting.

    Just one of many favs.

I'm going to go off the beaten path.

The Seven Samurai and the original The Magnificent Seven -- I watched those two movies with my dad about a million times. My dad introduced me to The Magnificient Seven as a young child. I introduced him to The Seven Samurai as a young teen. He had no idea M7 was a remake.

There Will Be Blood - "I drink your milk shake. I DRINK IT UP!!" became a catchphrase at my office that lasted a lot longer than it had any right to.

No Country for Old Men - I started watching it because I thought it was an anti-Whitacre propaganda film. I finished it because it was one of the most fascinating movies I'd ever seen (and I kept hoping there would be a scene where Chigurh walked into a sweeper store with his captive bolt stunner in tow...).

  • The original The Day The Earth Stood Still.
    The original 12 Angry Men.
    Glengary Glen Ross.
The original War Of The Worlds.
    To Kill a Mockingbird
    The first Inherit The Wind
The Time Machine (The first one)

My favorite modern science fiction movie may be Arrival. Because the writing is so well done.

The Dark Knight, Logan, and the two Guardians Of The Galaxy movies are amazing to me.

The Directors cuts of Donnie Darko, Watchmen, and Zak Snyder's Justice League are exceptionally well done, and huge improvements over the theatrical releases.

    In my opinion.

Cars. It was the first full length movie my son ever watched. We probably watched it every day when he was two years old. I still love the hidden adult humor, the animation, the story, and the moral lessons.

Not a movie and definitely not for children, but my wife and I think The Legend of Vox Machina on Amazon Prime is hysterical. If you're a D&D- or Lord of the Rings-type fantasy fan, give it a watch. I repeat, though, it is not for kids.

Has too be the Toy story series, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc and phew Alice in Wonderland, (since it is dripping with nostalgia and has memorable multiple layered stories).

Interesting thing about PIXAR that created most above was Lucasfilm developed software called PIXAR gave up the rights and a company was developed by the same name.

Unfortunately the company's last two animated motion pictures were flops, but in their hay day they passed the buck for ideas, and they all went though the storylines and weren't afraid to say if something wasn't working, (sorry been going through the DIsney channel).

  • Most of the Star Wars and Rocky movies.

I remember being shocked and want to watch again an old movie called Capricorn One.

Dirty Harry, Pale Rider, and Charles Bronson did it for me. There was a John Wayne movie that I remember parts and pieces of and again wish I could watch it again.

The original Ghostbusters and the Police Squad movies are up there too.

We went to the movies very often as I was growing up. Most of the ones above were watched with my dad. Those are some of the highlights of my life and helped build a strong bond together. Maybe some of them aren't the best but it was the company I was with that made it the best of the week.

Avatar 1 is up there but I still haven't seen #2 and am not in a hurry to. I'm not sure why.

Top Gun, Maverick, Full Metal Jacket, and other war movies are enjoyable to me, as long as they leave the politics out of it and just blow crap up and have plenty of badassery. .

Mission Impossible and Spider/Super man (older versions) have to be mentioned too.

I know I listed a bunch. I would watch any of those again. I've seen the original Star Wars probably 15 times now - never gets old. If I had to choose just two (series) it would be Star Wars and Rocky.

Animated? Toy Story up until they....well never mind, Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast (I'm sorry I did a lot of babysitting )
    Mark

Edit: Shawshank Redemption, As Good as it Gets, Forest Gump, Castaway, Pink Panther series. Okay, I'll stop now.

Used to go to the movies every other week. Saw the most awful British spin off's from very average British half hour sitcoms, full of smutty inuendo some of it, what you would call, end of the pier stuff. One such was called "On The Buses", the life of a bus driver, his family, his bus conductor womanizer partner and the creepy Inspector who ran the Bus Depot who was always the butt of their jokes. Might have seen the first movie which was probably dire.

Come to find out that they made 3 movies from this awful show.

But, that is what you did back in the day. You went and saw anything and everything. Only 3 tv channels in the 70's, no video recorders for most of it, so, you went to the movies constantly.
